  1. Poor Webster County. Had to come back for a 2nd time to play OCath in the playoffs! The KHSAA needs to look at changing this playoff structure!!! :deadhorse:
  2. Saw the twitter update from Adair's newspaper. Shocking score.
  3. A good ole' fashiond Indian War in Columbia. I think the long bus ride will not help the Braves. Union County probably not the same team since Paducah beat them. Talk about breaking your confidence. Adair will win if they can run the football effectively.
  4. In district 2, an Edmonson County win this week over Larue County gives them a 2-2 record. Unless Adair upsets Elizabethtown, they will probably finish 2-2. Edmonson County would win the heads up tie-breaker. If Edmonson County loses to Larue, they are out of the playoffs.
  5. Happy for Casey County but what a difference a few years make...
  6. Let me make a prediction. Paducah Tilghman wins their next 4 games of the regular season, finishing 5-5 and in 2nd place in the district. They win their home playoff game to go 6-5. They go on the road and win their second round game at either Adair or E-town to go 7-5. They lose at Caldwell in the regional finals to finish 7-6. I wouldn't be surprised to see them lose the second round game to Adair/Etown and I wouldn't be surprised to see them upset Caldwell in the regional finals.
  7. Probably not much different. I'd say E-town is the better team. It may have slowed a few drives for E-town and helped sustain a few drives for Edmonson. E-town is probably at least a 2-3 touchdown favorite if they played. E-town isn't as dominant as they have been the past couple seasons, but they are very well coached and have some tremendous talent. They will be the best team on Adair's schedule this year. Should be a good match-up. If Adair is going to beat them, it better be this year.
  8. Teachers make the same, regardless of subject area. Teacher pay is usually dependent on their "rank". A rank 3 teacher (college graduate), makes less than a Rank 2 teacher (Master's Degree). A rank 1 teacher (Master's Degree + 30 hours) gets paid more. The more education you get, the more you can expect to be paid. Driver Education is an endorsement any teacher can get if they so choose. With car crashes being the #1 killer of teens every single year, I'd say the subject is much needed in our schools. Now, how a teacher chooses to teach that subject and treat it with the importance that it deserves is another story. But the same can be said for the history teacher that sits at their desk and plays a movie three times a week. As far as other subjects, Driver Education is probably the only subject where the teacher is risking their own life every time they teach a kid. Not many subjects have that type of risk but also have the reward of teaching a lifelong skill that their students will use and remember the techniques and understanding that they learned in a good Driver Education class.
  9. Edmonson County has potential (led Butler County late in the 4th), but they are not the same team as earlier in the year. Caudill is a very good player and has the capability to break runs at any time. The Wildcats are missing their 6'6 370 sophomore lineman Logan Hagan. He was a two-way starter and made things very difficult for the opponent's interior run game. I believe the Wildcats also lost a couple other starters to injury. If & when the Wildcats can get these players back, I think they will win some games. Adair County is a tough task with their high scoring offense, but they should match up with the rest of their schedule.
  10. After looking closely at the Mr. Football trophies from the past decade or two, the figure on the trophy is Chuck Smith. So Chuck Smith is Mr. Football.
  11. Daniel Caudill--Edmonson County--SR. 5'11 195 Caudill has 513 yards rushing on 48 carries with 7 rushing TDs. Has 2 receptions for 85 yards and 1 TD. Has a kick return for a TD, a fumble return for a TD, an INT, and plays most every snap of defense. Caudill rushed for 1300 last year.
  12. I like the list but I don't think Paducah Tilghman should be on here at all. In their good years, they are in a great position to compete for a state title. Caldwell is on an upswing but their talent runs in cycles. E-Town is back to where they need to be, but Paducah has more athletes than anybody on that side of the state (Lou. Central is up there as well). Their coach resigned (don't blame him), but I don't consider them in a "bad" situation. Even on their "down" years, they are in a great situation to contend for at least the regional championship every year...
  13. An absolute NO!!! Coaches cannot dictate a kid, parents, families to not go on anywhere at any time, but especially when they are not in-season. I can understand a coach saying something like this during the season. Each coach can deal with that at their own discretion. But, telling anybody they CANNOT go.... Are you kidding me? You can't even tell kids (by KHSAA rules) that they have to be at off-season. Nothing is actually REQUIRED until the start of that sport's official practice date. Now a coach can decide to "cut" anybody after that date.
  14. Simply put... Rawlings balls are AWFUL compared to a Wilson GST ball. Absolutely NO COMPARISION. Bought a dozen Wilson GST's and used all year in practice and games and they are still in good shape. Had to use a Rawlings ball for practice the week of a playoff game and during the game.... Just threw the balls away after the game... They are that bad.
  15. Here's a crazy idea... Regardless of how many classes they have, divide them up EQUALLY! This 32 team class stuff is ridiculous. You CANNOT make everybody happy.
  16. Are you all really complaining about paying money to watch the finals or any game for that matter? What do you all do when you show up at your home games to watch? Do you pay? Or are you one of the people that "haven't paid in 20 years" and are mad when you have to pay $5 to get in... Games cost money for the schools to put on. They use that money to fund their athletic department. The KHSAA charges money to get into the game. It pays the bills for them. So what if they are charging a little money for the online broadcast so the people that can't travel there or don't want to spend the money to be AT the game can still watch? It's less than $20!!!! for all 6 games!!! It's like when a person says they would go on vacation but gas is too high... Really? If the extra .50 a gallon (about $10 more per fuel up) keeps you from taking a vacation somewhere, get this, you don't need to be taking a vacation somewhere.
  17. Care to share a link?
  18. Glasgow head football coach Rick Wood resigned today. Top notch football coach.
  19. I think if the KHSAA would offer the best of both worlds to the schools, you would see a different vote. First, a five class system pretty much guarantees that a school has to win to get in the playoffs. That takes care of the 0-10 teams. Still could have a 1-9, but most districts would require two wins. If you stay with 6 classes, break them up evenly and allow a little flexibility to make sure districts have at least five teams. Or, take top 3 and allow schools that are not making the playoffs the option to schedule one last game with another school in the same situation, so they could have another football gate. Schools usually know if they will make it or not, so this could be worked out during the year. Football gates help fund other sports. So an extra $1000 may be worth it to some schools to go play in the current system.
  20. Where is everybody seeing this new rule? Or is this just a rumor? Has KHSAA released anything about this?
  21. Hearing rumors out of Fort Campbell that Shawn Berner has resigned his head coaching position.
  22. They need to do another "M" on the other side of the 50... If it's a county school, a nice "C" would fix it quick...
  23. Heard he was giving it up at the end of the year. He was the backbone of that outfit.
