  1. The St. X Board of Directors approved the start of Phase II at their last meeting two weeks ago. While construction will start as soon as possible, I understand that a formal groundbreaking ceremony will not be held until later this spring. The baseball teams will be without a home field this year, I am not sure what arrangements are being made to accommodate the ball teams. Project X was able to move on to Phase II so soon due to the generosity of many donors, both large and small, who believe in the lifelong values taught at St. Xavier High School. The stadium is to be named in honor of Brother Thomas Moore Page, CFX, at the request of an anonymous donor. Brother Thomas Moore was instrumental in St. X moving from its’ Broadway location to the current site on Poplar Level Road.
  2. The Jefferson County coaches hold a combine for upcoming High School seniors the Monday after Derby Day at Ballard High School. It is typically well attended by local college coaches.
  3. First off, congratulations to all of the St. X seniors, you had a great 4 years. Good luck and enjoy the rest of your senior year. The Tigers will have to replace a lot of talented seniors next year, 19 of 22 starters were seniors. The offense does return a good group of experienced running backs in Anderson, Eckman, Simmons, and several key linemen; O'Daniel, Ott, and McDonald. Zoeller got a lot of good experience this year at QB and should be a lot more comfortable running the offense next year. Simmons may see time at WR along with Passafiume, and Hottell. Look for Anderson to have a break out year if he can stay healthy. The defense looses all 11 starters. The D-line should be the strength of the defense at the the beginning of the year with Androla, Smith, Carpenter, and Meyer all getting quality playing time this year due to Glaser's substituting style . Barito and Huelsman played a lot of DB and Bisig got some good minutes at LB. Corwin Hammond, a transfer from Trinity will get a look at LB or DE next year. The D should be a bit faster next year. Look for some players out of this years sophmore class to make an impact next year. Besides Zoeller, Smith, Carpenter, Simmons; Gahm, Hale, Bosscher, and Slayton are sophmores to watch. DJ Hall and Deuce Finch are two current freshmen who could see some playing time next year.
  4. The 2006 schedule is already posted on the St. X web site, it is identical to this years.
  5. Congratulations Trinity, good game. See you next September.
  6. Trinity will be fired up and score early in the game. The Tigers will start slow and take control in the 2nd half and win by 10. Good luck to everyone.
  7. I believe that Male had a very good freshman back that played JV and Varisty as well until he got hurt in the Butler JV game.
  8. I got to see the 1st half and was impressed both with the caliber of players and the number of fans in attendance. It would have been even better if the word had gotten out to the press. I did see channel 41 there, so hopefully things will be a little more organized next year. I am curious, does anyone know how come no Male HS players were there? Does coach Redmon belong to the GLFCA?
  9. Tim Daugherty for St. X is the best kicker I seen this year and is D1 talent. He is talking to UL, UK, among others.
  10. Joe Hall the QB from Central Hardin was the best player I seen this year that hasn't gotten any pub. I don't see him playing QB in college, but at 6'3" and 235 he can play FB, TE, or LB. Even though he is very raw at QB, he was named the offensive MVP at the GLFCA? all star game yesterday. I hope colleges are checking him out.
  11. Perhaps the Highlands JV could play the St. X JV next year? Sounds like that would be a great game.
  12. St. X had about 95 players on this years team, Trinity has had a lot fewer players these past few years. The coaches at St. X do a very good job of substituting players and trying to get as many as they can playing time, although it might be for just a few plays. However, the players all understand that playing time is earned not given, and those that work the hardest and produce get the most playing time. (The players seem to understand this better than some parents.) St. X is fortunate to have 9 paid coaches and several other volunteer coaches, so the ratio of players to coach is fairly low. The players get a lot of individual instruction during drills and practice. The one thing that is hard to explain is the desire of so many kids to be a part of the St. X tradition, and being a part of a St. X football team is more important to them than playing time. The coaching staff encourages the kids to stick with it if that is what they want. A good example is this year’s group of 55 seniors. Not all of them play, but they stuck with it for 4 years to be part of that tradition. At the football banquet next month when the players are introduced you will not be able to tell the difference between the all stars and the substitutes, they will all be part of the team.
  13. I believe that is 26 wins in a row for the St. X freshman. The "infamous" Coach Brown has got a good thing going on. I am sure he will have the next group of Baby Bengals ready to extend that streak next year.
  14. Another close game for the Tigers. WC has some great players on both sides of the ball. Several "speed" players go both ways and are very talented. The WC offense is balanced and hard to defend. I think the weather will play a factor and keep the game low scoring. The St. X defense will be ready and the offense will score late to win by a TD.
  15. Last year they did not play this game. So if the option is to play the game with the players available or not at all, then by all means play the game. Due to several reasons such as the NCAA allowing scholarship players to start school in June the only time to play the game was this weekend. Having UK and UL playing at home just about rules out Saturday, so Friday at 2:00 will have to due.
  16. I understand he also made the St. X freshman basketball team. He has great potential and once he gets into St. X shape he will be a good one. I wouldn't be surprised to see him get a little varisity playing time next year. That is quite an accomplishment for a sophmore at St. X. I hope he keeps up the good work.
  17. I have to second that nomination. St. X played the toughest schedule in the state and still remain undefeated. People can remark on how the Tigers were ranked #1 all year and they just have to "reload", but the pressure is unbelievable. Just try replacing over 80% of the starters of a state championship team and remain #1 the next year. I would also like to nominate Mark Sanders of DeSales. He took over a program that was on the verge of extinction and turned them into champions. He is not only trying to save the football program but the future of the school itself. Here's hoping he can revive that once strong Colt tradition. I still remember Joe Fed.
  18. I thought this was a St. X vs Warren Central thread. Trinity should should worry about Henry Clay instead of trying to take over the St. X vs Warren Central thread. Must be some type of complex. By the way, I predict another close game against WC with the Tigers pulling it out in the 2nd half.
  19. Throughout the past week St. X fans have shown nothing but respect for the JH team and their coaches. There was nothing that happened at the game last night that would change anyone’s mind. Going for 2 was the only way to go. Why do you ask such a question?
  20. I can't agree more. JH made the the correct decision to go for 2 at the end of the game. They capitalized on several St. X miscues and had the momentum at the time. The JH players, coaches, and fans should not second guess the call. Congratulations to JH, their coaches and fans. JH played a great game, especially on defense, St. X really didn't have what I would call a break away play which has been a trade mark of this team. St. X shot theirselves in the foot several times during the game, but do not take anything away from the Bulldogs. Call it what you want, but the Tigers came away with a win and that is all that matters this time of the year. St. X lives to play another day and will take on Warren Central, perhaps as part of a double header with Bowling Green at WKU.
  21. Blowout Trinity over Boone Closet DeSales over Western
  22. The weather could play a big role in tomorrow's game. With temps approaching freezing the ball gets slick and becomes harder to hold on too. This will be more of a factor for JH's slight of hand wing-T offense, (which they run very well), than St. X's straight ahead style of football. If St. X can hang on to the ball I think they can control the clock and get a few break-away TDs for the win.
  23. Great job! I'm sure he will achieve much success in college and in life.
