St. Xavier 24 Trinity 15
As far who has a chance to win the 2007 6A championship I only have an opinion on the teams I have seen play this year. I do not know how you can dismiss so many teams so quickly? In my opinion, St. X is by far the best team I have seen play this year, followed by Manual, Trinity and Male. Manual is very physical on both sides of the ball, has a true multifaceted offense, and plays a tough aggressive defense. St. X beat Manual by only 7 points with its’ whole team intact. It is highly likely that St. X and Manual will meet again in the 2nd round of the playoffs. I would hate to speculate past that. Not to change the thread, but I think It is unfortunate for Louisville High School football that Manual and Trinity do not play on a regular basis.

St. Xavier 24 Trinity 15
I did not realize that they were so many history majors at Trinity; they seem to multiply after a loss. I stand by my statement that St. X will not look past any game on their schedule and no one is guaranteed a free ride to the finals. I also believe that you cannot compare the past with the present in this instance; this is a different year, different teams, different players, and different attitudes. As stated before, we can agree to disagree. What I do know is that St. X won despite losing their QB, TB, S, and kick returner to injuries and blew several golden opportunities on both offense and defense due to penalties, mistakes, and turnovers. So while St. X played better than Trinity on Friday night, they did not play a perfect game as some on here have insinuated. I also know that tomorrow is a new day and the St. X football team will work on improving and preparing for Butler. They will take nothing for granted.

St. Xavier 24 Trinity 15
You might want to check out Henry Clay before you buy your advance tickets to the championship game. They have a huge line that is a lot more physical than Trinity’s on both sides of the ball, a QB who is one of the most athletic players in the state, a solid running game, and a WR/DB who is being pursued by every D1 college in the nation. Right now St. X is completely focused on Thursday's game with Butler and not even thinking about looking past them to "open date" the following week.

St. Xavier 24 Trinity 15
Great explanation. The broom symbolizing “sweeping” a series has been used for decades. Anyone who has lived in city with pro sports teams has seen it many times during home stands and playoff series. The umbrella was purely a student body prop keeping with the theme on the t-shirts the St. X student body was wearing for the game. Some people just need to lighten up, I am sure if Trinity had won neither symbol would have been seen. By the way I loved the “We Are Trinity” t-shirts I seen the students wearing.

Congratulations to St. X on a big win. Without a doubt the Tigers are the best TEAM in the state.

St. X vs. Trinity - Freshmen
Good game baby Bengals. Keep working on the basics. For everyone who was concerned about the St. X seating capacity on the visitors side of the stadium don't worry, there was plenty of room for fans this week.

Trinity vs St. X
Does that mean that Trinity has scored less than 20 points in 22 of the past 30 years?
-
St. X vs. Trinity - Freshmen
I haven't seen the Trinity freshmen play yet, but they better be able to stop the run as St. X has a bunch of good running backs this year. They also have a solid passing attack and seem to do a good job of mixing up the play calling. I will have to take the Tigers in this one.

Trinity vs St. X
At first I thought St. X might get lucky and eek out a victory, but after reading some of the posts on this board I will have to reconsider. It seems that Trinity has no weaknesses; after all they scored 31 points on the St. X Bombers. Compared to the Tiger opponents Trinity is faster than Male (sorry Justin), more physical than Manual (sorry Dave), and have a more sophisticated passing attack than Lex Cath (sorry coach Franklin). I will have to go with Trinity by at least 2 touchdowns with the JVs possibly seeing some playing time.

Trinity 48 Eastern 12
Looks like the Trinity offense had a good night. What hapened to Rick Miller, did he graduate last year?
-
X vs. Manual
Most important reason is that the winner of this game will probably win the District and have "home field" advantage for the first 3 games of the playoffs if they continue to win. St. X finally has a true home field.

X vs. Manual
This will be one of the best games in the state this week along with being the most important on St. X's schedule. St. X leads 6A scoring with a total of 154 points, Manual is 2nd with 149 points scored. St. X also leads in defense allowing only 29 points, Manual is 4th allowing 41 points in 4 games. The St. X offense has really stepped up, along with the added dimension of Ben Zoeller's running to put more pressure on opposing defenses. Manual's defense will be the best St. X has faced to date, being both bigger and stronger than Male's. St. X will have to mix it up a little more than usual to keep the Manual defense off balance. The St. X defense is getting better every week. All of the early injuries have helped develop some much needed depth which will come in handy as the year goes on. The St. X defense may not be at 100% strength this week, but they are getting closer. Manual did defeat St. X in the UL 7 on 7 tournament so it will be interesting to see if St. X can defend a "wing T" team with a strong passing game.

St. Xavier 42 Male 6
Great job St. X. I thought this game would be much closer, but the Tigers proved to be faster, stronger and deeper than Male from top to bottom. The St. running attack was unstoppable and the defense was able to shut down an explosive Male offense. However, St. X needs to crank it up a notch this week if they expect to beat a very good Manual team next Friday.

St Xavier/Male Predictions
This will be a traditional St. X vs. Male game. Male always has several athletes that are as good as any in the state, and that is true this year, but St. X manages to wear Male out with the number of athletes it has on its' roster. The St. X offense will settle for a “3 and out”, “3 and out”, “breakaway” for a score all night long. This type of play will eventually catch up to Male and St. X will pull out a victory in the 2nd half. I am anxious to see Heyman against the St. X defense. My understanding is that he has been playing running back and is looking very good. Personally I believe he is better suited as an “H” back type player where he can use his size and speed more out in the open. Male has put up some impressive offensive numbers so far this year but so has Lex Cath, until last week. St. X by 2 TDs.

St. X 41 Lexington Catholic 9
I was surprised at the score, I thought LC would have moved the ball better, but the St. X defense did a good job of containing the run and not giving the LC QB much time to throw. Quick hitters to the TE and screens seemed to work the best for LC tonight. #5 made a good catch down field for the Knights, he just out jumped the St. X DB for maybe their longest gain of the night. The offense was able to break off several long runs and completed several passes at key times to keep drives going. Deuce Finch and Ben Zoeller both out ran the LC defense tonight. They still show a little inconsistency, but the offense is looking a lot better than they did the first week. St. X still has a lot of room for improvement, they had several fumbles, a TD called back on a penalty, and they are still having trouble on PATs. They will need to improve to hang with Male next week.

St. X Versus Lex. Cath Predictions
Lex Cath has averaged over 50 points a game for the first 2 games, but I don't think they can score 50 on the St. X defense. With Matt Smith and Trevor Foy back on the d-line throwing the ball will become a little more difficult, and with Lex Cath's best running back playing at less than 100%, if he plays at all, it will put more pressure on the passing game. I look for several long drives by the St. X offense and the Tigers will pick off a couple of LC passes to come away with a 28-14 victory.

St. X./Henry Clay Scrimmage
It seems like most of the St. X starters are a little banged up and Deuce is no exception. As everyone knows, Coach Glaser does not like to show a lot during these types of scrimmages and play calling is limited. Combine the two situations and I can see how some fans may be concerned with the offense, but I know that the coaches are not. With a little time the players will heal, the offense will improve, and St. X will be St. X.

Saint Xavier/Fern Creek Scrimmage
Good post. I noticed Villa T did not rake any Trinity players over the coals regarding the Scott Co. scrimmage and that is the way it should be. Ben Zoeller will be the QB this year, take it to the bank. The coaches, and more importantly the players believe in Ben. Ben is one of the most athletic players on the team and he spent the spring and summer playing baseball as he has the potential to play baseball at the next level. He is just now getting his football legs under him but he will be ready for the season opener.

Saint Xavier/Fern Creek Scrimmage
Jack is up to 6'-0" and 215 lbs now and is one of the strongest players on the team. As you probably know, Jack suffered a season ending ACL injury last year but he did not let that get him down and he is back bigger and stonger than ever. Look for Jack to have a great year.

Saint Xavier/Fern Creek Scrimmage
I thought is was a great opening scrimmage for both teams: The St. X O-line got an early look at the same type of defense Male runs and realized they have room for improvement. This learning experience will pay off later this season. FC has some good speed and spent a good deal of time in the backfield disrupting many plays due to the confusion up front. St. X mixed the pass vs run fairly well, some passes were off and a number of them dropped, but that can be expected this time of year. I believe St. X found their goto receiver in tight end Ben Brown who put on a great display catching and running. The St. X defense looked good considering they are putting in a new defensive scheme and were missing all four starting D-linemen due to various bumps and bruises. There were a lot of big hits by the defense. The FC QB proved he can pass the ball if he has the time. He has a lot of speed to throw to. I was impressed by FC's numbers, they seemed up from past seasons. FC showed good discipline and had few penalties. The St. X kicking game was much improved. Most of the kickoffs ended up in the endzone and they were perfect on PATs and a field goal. They need a little more practice long snapping though. Both teams showed some good young talent.

Is Bill Glaser back at St. X
Coach Bill Glaser is coaching the DL and the players seem to really respond to him. Coach Todd Walsh is still the D-coordinator.
