GLFCA All-Stars West 30 - East 26

Featured Replies

West best the East in a game that went down to the wire. The west kept pushing ahead by double digits only to have the East get back into the game.

Def MVP of the West - Manual's Aundre Henderson , pressured the QB all game

It was an exciting game.

The G.L.F.C.A. put on a "First Class" event for the players and the fans...and there was a BUNCH of fans in attendance. I thought that both coaching staffs did a heck of a job preparing their players for this game.

The West created some turn overs and ran the ball very effectively-

The East put on an Air-Show and made the game a lot of fun!

East QB, Caleb Newton, was terrific.

Thanks to the players, coaches, GLFCA, and volunteers, who made this a memorable event!

It was very memorable everyone did great thanks to coach scroggins. He did a great job in preparing the team in only 3 days.

It was a great day for an all star football game. Both sides played hard and there were some hard hits. The fans really turned out and the association did a wonderful job of putting on this event. Great Job Coach Scroggins, Jackson, Washington, Walker, Webb, and the others. Joe Hall of Central Hardin was the offensive MVP.

Any More Details? Who Scored The Td's?

The game was a first class event, I hope someone considers seeking a professional PA next time. That would be the only negative in a day of positives though. Rico Neal - RB (Central) took an option pitch in for the first West score to put them up 7-0. A real impressive run and cut back to get the score. The west came back with a drive set up by the passing game and a shorter pass to Courtney Gibbs - WR (Fern Creek) but the PAT kick was blocked by #38 for the west. West 7 - East 6. Heck, I could go on but don't we have a sports page in the local paper? There was not one word about the game nor was a line score printed, did the GLFCA fail to get this information in? Either way, if this were a post season BASKETBALL all star game then the articles leading up to and following the event would have been aplenty, for sure! Anyway, I just want to say what a good experience this is for the players. I am able to say I have fond memories of the game I was a fortunate enough to play in (83). Some players were absent due to their teams still being in the playoffs as well as Male players not being there. Overall a very good display of talent on the field and I noticed a few coaches from some smaller colleges in attendance. Hopefully the game being played in late fall instead of mid summer will only help some of the players (who have not been contacted by some of these schools) get opportunities to go to school and continue playing football.

Great Post GR8BigBull! You make a great point regarding playing the game at this time of the year and getting players noticed by colleges. There were kids on these teams from outstanding football programs...BUT... for those kids from mediocre teams, it is an excellent vehicle to be scouted and have a chance to play football at some level in college. The QB for the WEST (I believe he was from Central Hardin) and the QB for the EAST from South Oldham certainly benefitted from playing in this game.

I got to see the 1st half and was impressed both with the caliber of players and the number of fans in attendance. It would have been even better if the word had gotten out to the press. I did see channel 41 there, so hopefully things will be a little more organized next year.

I am curious, does anyone know how come no Male HS players were there? Does coach Redmon belong to the GLFCA?

Coach Redmon belongs but for some reason Male doesn't make it a priority for their kids to play. They have over 30 seniors, at least a few would have played if given the opportunity and informed of the game. There were no John Hardin players either. There were some Central Hardin & North Hardin players there.
