  1. Bell Co was up 7 with 1:53 in the half when LC turned the ball over at midfield. Bell drove but got backed up 4th and long in the redzone with about 13 seconds in the half still a 7-0 game. The officials threw a phantom flag and threw one of LC's players out of the game giving Bell the ball right on the goal line. Huge momentum swing there. LC came out the 2nd half and held Bell 3 and out but after getting stopped 3 and out themselves had a bad snap on the punt giving Bell the ball on the 22 yd line. Bell punched it in then got an interception for a TD. The wheels fell off after that. I apologize for the display when the 2nd Sr got thrown out of the game. That is not what the LC program is about and it is not what 99% of our kids are about. There was some jawing from both teams which happens in intense games sometimes but at the end of the game both teams showed a lot of sportsmanship. LC has worked to hard with character kids to have one or two make our program look bad. On the flip side I hope somebody talks to Bell Co's assistant that is a bigger guy that was wearing glasses and carrying a play call sheet. He cussed our players and told them how soft they were the whole night. After 3 quarters of pleaing with officials they never said a word. The frustration built up with a couple of SR's and it got out of control. This was a great game for a half. I never say anything about officiating but they were pathetic and took over what was a great game. As for Bell Co I tip my hat. They are the defending state champs for a reason. They flat out got after it on defense! Hilton and the other LBers are outstanding and Carton played well up front. Raines had a nice pick 6 and is a great looking athlete. That's one of the better defenses I've seen in awhile and they are young! Offensively they wear on you and have a ton of speed. It's a very nice combination that is tough to deal with. Their program has a lot to be proud of. It is obvious they work really hard in the weight room which is great. This group from LC is a special group in football history. There isn't a lot around Louisa but they are crazy about their football team and that was evident with the crowd they brought last night. This group of kids won 1 game in two years and turned it around to 12-1. That takes kids that have a lot of character and are willing to buy in even when times are tough. Things that people don't see are the way they act with the younger kids in the community that look up to them. Outsiders don't see the impact they have had on bringing a small community back together. They are some great role models. Pack (leading rusher) Bentley (3rd leading rusher) OBrian (leading tackler) and Bradley (2nd leading tackler) all were in the hospital Thurs with IV's from a stomach bug. OBrian spent Thurs night in the hospital. Every single one of them played and didn't come off the field even though they were sick. That takes a lot of heart! This group of kids also make the choice everyday to circle up and give thanks to God which is pretty special in this day and time. Congrats to both programs. The kids and communities have a lot to be proud of. Good luck to Bell Co as you make your journey towards achieving your goals.
  2. I played at Lawrence Co in the early 90's and Flemming along with Russell was always our best competition. He always did a great job then. I got to know him better when I started coaching. He is a good man and I have a lot of respect for him and how available he was to me as a young coach back then. Best wishes to him and to Flemming Co. I hope Billy Spencer has first crack if he stays around! I know he loves the kids there!
  3. Per KHSAA site: Knox Central 76 Rushing and 31 Passing for 107 yards. After the first drive they only had 2 first downs and one of those was on a penalty. I know we had a lot of 3 and out's on defense which looked like it wore them down at the end of the game.
  4. How's that for two huge predictions:banana:
  5. Defense was lights out again! 7 shutouts last 8 games for the starters I think it is. Knox had around 50 yds the first drive and 58 the rest of the game. They are a great program and should be preseason top 10 next year. James rushed for around 150 and Pack around 120. LC with close too 300yds on the ground. Great last game for our Srs on their home field! They have gone from 4 wins their first 3 years of high school to 12-0!!!
  6. I said 2 weeks ago they would win both. I really think they can and will get to the carpet.
  7. Shelby Valley is a lot better than they get credit for. I know Corbin is favored but I wouldn't be suprised if Valley pulls off the upset.
  8. Knox at LC. It is a great matchup. Both teams are physical. I asked last week and Coach Williams is not doing very well at all. Keep him in your prayers.
  9. Glad you made it home safe. Wish we had more time to talk but it was good meeting you.
  10. Starting defense now has 6 shutouts the last 7 games. GREAT matchup next week with Knox. The two teams are a lot alike in many ways.
  11. Man I hate to hear that about Aaron. I coached him in 8th grade and knew he would be a stud! How is Elijah Barnette doing? I figured he would be a man too. I had a lot of those kids: Jerry, Shannon, Shawn etc. I also knew Shaw would be tough!
  12. Prestonsburg is a great story too. They lost a slew of talent that I tought would win it all last year. They bounced back to go undefeated! Burchette has flown under the radar but is one of the best in the state!
  13. I think Rowan wins in what might be the best matchup in the state other than SC at Russell.
  14. Lawrence County also lost 1 QB that is starting for Boyle (Goldsmith) and the other that is one of the best athletes in the state (Shepard). Shep had surgery (best pitcher in the state) but is only a JR.
  15. Offense, special teams and defense. This is the best the defense has played since 1992-93. I think the starters have 5 shutouts the past 7 games.
  16. New coach/coaches last year. Took some time to find out the kids that wanted to work and do things the right way. Lots of sacrifice the first year but it sure has been fun to see those kids going from crying after losing heartbreaking games to great teams to all smiles and bleached hair now .
  17. I call on his dad a Dr. in Pburg. I can't tell you how much talent they lost last year. He stepped up as a leader and imposed his will! I talked to him after our scrimmage and he is a very impressive young man! He is the best QB Ive seen this year on the field and his ACT speaks for itself as to what he is off the field.
  18. I forgot about Mason in there lol. I think SC beats Russell and Belfrey.
  19. I like you HOP. I've watched your posts all year and you are a good fan with respect for other teams. Give me a yell if you make it too the game. I would imagine the best way to come is I64 to Ashland. Right before you get to the WV line there is a huge Ashland Oil factory. Rt 23 is right there. You will take Rt 23 to Louisa for 20 minutes. If you need more directions than that then PM me. Should be a fun game. McCreary has a very explosive offense! Should be fun!:thumb: Hope you all have safe travels!
  20. I might be wrong but I really feel like Sheldon Clark is under the radar more than any team in the state. I said preseason that Lawrence Co could go undefeated and pull the biggest turnaround in state history. I'm going on record now saying Sheldon Clark shocks the state and wins the Region from a 4 seed!
  21. I've been keeping an eye on them. That is a great story too. Is that the same Lucas that used to be at Erlanger Lloyd?
  22. 1-21 if you count the year before.
  23. McCaden has put up impressive numbers. I haven't seen him. McShara is right there with him IMO. Simpson is in the top 3 with those two guys I'd say. Shane Pack hasn't gotten nearly the carries or would be right up there numbers wise. Alber from Ashland is another back that should be mentioned along with these 4 guys as some of the better backs in the state. He's a load! Hayden from LCA is up there too. QB wise it seems like the kid out West is in a league of his own this year. Any other D1 QB's in the state this year? I'd like to here from somebody that has seen McShara, McCaden and Simpson play on how they would rank them. Collinsworth is in the mix but I think it will be one of those 3 guys.
  24. That's him. If it was a defensive award he would get my vote from the people I've seen. He's one heck of a LBer!
  25. My Jr year we got hot and beat a 1 seed that had beaten us by almost 40 at our place earlier in the year. We won at their place in double OT without our starting QB! We might have been a 3 seed can't remember if it was that or a 4. Went on and pulled a couple more upsets and were 4 points from playing in the state championship where the team that beat us lost by 3! Anything is possible come playoff time!
