Sheldon Clark visits Russell in a surprising first round matchup thanks to some late season injuries and suspensions. Sheldon Clark proved early in the year that they are a very good team by shutting out Breathitt County and Channing Fugate, beating Johnson Central, and nearly beating undefeated Lawrence County and Prestonsburg. Russell, however, hasn't been as impressive against the tougher teams on their schedule. They were soundly beaten by Ironton, Ashland, and Mason County and finished the season with a poor showing at Raceland. On the surface, it looks like this should be a Sheldon Clark win, but it's been a long time since Russell has made a 1st round playoff exit. Will pride, tradition, and home field advantage be enough for Russell to pull off the upset or will Sheldon Clark roll over the Devils?

I hope Russell can come out and get it done this week. When was the last time Russell lost in the first round of the playoffs?

I think Russell is going to have to do some things we haven't seen if they are going to win this game. Russell relies a lot on Travis Jones, but this Sheldon Clark team has proven they can completely shut down a running game as they did earlier this season against Breathitt and Fugate.

I might be wrong but I really feel like Sheldon Clark is under the radar more than any team in the state. I said preseason that Lawrence Co could go undefeated and pull the biggest turnaround in state history. I'm going on record now saying Sheldon Clark shocks the state and wins the Region from a 4 seed!

Yes P-burg won 28-22 that year, Russell can win this game but it will not be easy.

Have to agree....Sheldon Clark has played a tough schedule, & i think they've been under the radar. Russell will have to play their best game to win.

SC is the most dangerous 3 seed in the state and will be favored in this game. I predict the score will suggest it's a close game but no real worries. SC will put Russell away early in the fourth.
