I'll be a rebel and say that my membership allows me to step in on any threads-if you don't like it start your own Rock Grass Preps. Answers to your statements: 1. Then show it! 2. 6 for 17 passing is not bad when your starting QB plays thru a broken bone in his plant foot that he suffered on the Tigers 1st or 2nd possession-I wonder if Brohm and the Rocks would have fared better two years ago with the same circumstances. Last time I looked a 14-6 victory margin didn't spell dominance. You won and/or escaped with victory-enjoy the win.

and the mythical rants continue....I think if there would have been any talk of rings being designed I would have been advised since I would have had to pay for it. Show some intelligence.

Sorry LSU, but I believe Planet Tiger is just fine with their coach. Your displeasure with Coach G is well documented and I think you will have to remain irritated until he decides to step aside, which I am confident will be on his own terms. The disappointment in coming up "inches" short of keeping the Rockpile squirming for at least another 9 months while putting up clearly our worst showing of the season was a tough pill to swallow, but I didn't see finger pointing going on after the game, especially in Coach G's way. There were alot of contributing factors leading to the Tigers demise not excluding one of the best performances all year by the Rock defense but Coach Mike cannot legitimately be held responsible for the loss. These are HS kids who are going to have off nights but I guess you have grown accustomed to this never happening in the land of football perfection in St. Matthews when it matters most-see Dixie Heights 13 months ago. Yes, disappointment was in the air but this Tiger parent was more sorry about his son's 4 year journey with Coach Glaser being over than losing the game because I know what a great impact he has had on him as a football player and most importantly, as a human being. As a parent, I will take all the help I can get in my child's character building. Some of us like the fact that Coach G has a ton of "17 yr old friends" and you have the right to be happy with a legitimate football expert who so proudly boasts about his only job being "the football coach" if you so choose. I think the criticism your guy takes in his adopted homeland stems more from that line of thinking while nobody doubts his football pedigree and you appear to be the minority in supporting it (at least until the Rocks win). As a Tiger parent, I find your label of this season being "one of the most disappointing in the history of Tiger football" a slap in the face to what these young men accomplished. Friday night clearly was one of the most disappointing GAMES in Tiger football history, but wasn't it you that asked in September-"It is just a game isn't it?". Why should we find shame in losing to a perennial power such as Trinity? Oh BTW, spare me with the "we don't care how many losses we have as long as we win the one that matters most" talk too because the true "chaos" has been raining on Shelbyville Road from 9/23/04 to 10/2/05. The forecast calls for some pretty heavy precipitation/steady competition for the next few years at least so you might want to buy a poncho since they don't allow umbrellas at the "home of the Rock". I have enjoyed most of your posts because while sometimes a bit crass, they are primarily fact based and to the point (and most of the time, pretty darned funny). This thread does not meet that description and is truly I feel, beneath you. Personally, I think you rightfully could have reworded the question asking your brethren if it is STILL time to look for a coaching change at Trinity since you and Rockmom appeared to be the only two strongly supporting Coach Beatty on 9/24/05. I'll ask you a better question-did the Rocks victory give Coach Bob a reprieve that he might have so desperately needed?

Horse Manure! I will give you part of a factual conversation my son and I had with Coach Glaser and Coach Bergamani during the week before the entrance exam 4 years ago. For the record, the conversation took place within 30 days after my son completed a highlight film caliber 8th grade Toy Bowl year in football and a week after he hung 30 points on an opponent in his BBall jamboree held at St. X with Coach B in attendance working the scoreboard. It went something very close to this....."Son, you are an outstanding young athlete, but that doesn't get you anything at St. X unless you are willing to work as hard as everyone else will. We at St. X want boys who want to turn into great young men and look forward to being pushed towards excellence every day". Hence, the guy who pays the tuition (namely me) was sold on the spot despite a 15 year friendship with Roger Burkman and the fact that most of my son'e closest friends were going to DeSales. For the record, when I saw Coach Glaser hugging my son as he left the locker room last night for the last time as a St. X Tiger, it confirmed for the millionth time that my tuition bill is the best investment I could have ever made for my son. There is factual info for you-enjoy your victory and stop trying to stir nonsense up.

Congrats to the Rocks players and coaches on a much deserved Championship victory and to Nick Petrino as MVP. Nick proved that being elusive, tough and composed can be just as valuable of an asset in HS football as blazing speed and/or size. Redemption is always sweet and this story line goes down as one of the best. The Rocks were doubted by many within and outside the T family and by coming together as a TEAM they shared the last laugh. I, for one, felt all along that the Rocks stock of top notch skill players on this years squad could prove to be a great foundation to build on and the most dangerous threat to the Tigers reign if they bought into the TEAM concept. They did and it worked. Special congratulations to my favorite Rock-Elliott DeWeese on having the best game of his HS career at the best time possible-Big "E" you were the man last night!!! Also, kudos to 2 close friends of my son-Eric Senn and Tony Klausing. On the issues concerning the actions of a certain Tiger star-they were uncalled for and bush league at best and IMO he should be disciplined. Despite this, one persons actions should not tarnish the image/class of St. X football anymore than the pregame dance/taunting at midfield or post-game taunting of the St. X fans by a pair of Rock players. Even the most perfect of programs has "individuals" who will stray from the conduct expected by these outstanding schools. As those who were there witnessed, the majority showed great sportmanship and handled themselves like gentlemen in both victory and defeat. As for the game itself-penalties, play-calling, interrupting cadences, officiating or any other reasons leave nothing but questions of what has nothing to do with the fact that the Tigers flatly got beat. It is part of football and you have to overcome adversity to win. In the 2004 and 2005 regular season T/X games, the Tigers appeared to have ESP as to what Coach Bean would offer to counter their offensive attack and they took full advantage. Last night Coach Bean turned the tables-a couple of Tiger players even mentioned after the game that it appeared that the Rock defense already knew what the X offense was going to do before the ball was snapped on most occasions. Excellent preparation by the Rocks and poor execution by the Tigers. On the Tigers season-Hold your heads high on an outstanding year and don't let one loss to a great program ruin it for you. We fell a few inches short of potentially tying/winning a game that we truly didn't deserve to win with the showing we had. I think we looked the good luck gift horse in the mouth one too many times this season and it came back to bite us with the assistance of a great T defensive effort. To the Tiger seniors-you are the most special group of young men that I have had the pleasure of getting to know. Your brotherhood is second to none and the friendships my son has formed with all of you is one of the most pleasurable things I can witness as a parent. To my favorite Tiger-you have had 4 outstanding years of Tiger football and I could not be any prouder of you. Your accomplishments on and off the field have been wonderful and what every father dreams about for their son. Your track record of championships speaks for itself in life and on the field. The loss of HS football in my life on an everyday basis truly hurts much more than the Tigers loss to the Rocks. I think in a weird way that last night's game will enhance this great rivalry in a period where it appeared that the Tigers would explode to dominance for at least a fairly long cycle. For those who question why X and T are so good? I truly think you would have to experience it to fully understand. Great job Rocks-I'll be pulling for you against all opponents except one. TIGERS-you will BE BACK!!!

Class 4A Final: St. Xavier/Trinity discussion
I truly expect a great game due to the improvements made by the Shamrocks, but if the Tigers line play dominance is similar to what they showed last night they will be even tougher to beat. Looking forward to the game but dreading the personal attachment of HS football being over since my son is a Senior. Good luck and health to both teams.

I think you've missed the point again-the young man could not have attended Manual in the first place if he lived in Indiana, Oldham County or anywhere else other than Jefferson County, Kentucky. Moot point since obviously he is progressing in Fball to a level that sees the field in Varsity games while meeting the academic standards successfully at T, he & his family made the right choice in transferring.

Five Mr. Football finalists named
I haven't seen Micah Johnson so it is impossible for me to compare accurately, but I can't see anyone controlling the game like Justin Burke does. He played like a college sophomore against X and appeared very improved in the composure department when under heavy rush. His footwork, quickness, accuracy and intellectual advantage are unmatched from what I have seen in KY this year. Last season Joe Tronzo and crew gave him nightmares all night but this year the young man simply was bullet proof. It seems by his stats that he has put up stellar performances all year, therefore, much deserving of the award. I thought for sure that Ft. Campbell would make it to the finals allowing me to see Micah first hand and form an objective comparison on overall Mr. Football characteristics, but Owensboro Cath put an end to that thought. Anyone out there seen both that can offer some insight?

Sorry, I just don't get the gist on how X fans could be unhappy with an opposing coach seizing his best opportunity to win. IMO I can't see how we could disagree with a strategic move on the part of an opposing coach that led to our defeat? Regardless, it's over and he made the correct call-it was truthfully more accurate than gutsy and you would expect that from a great coach like Coach Brown.

I would be praising him for making the right call-it is a no brainer. Line em up and give X 4 tries to gain 10 yards and they will execute 9 out of 10 times against JH. The Wing-T was, for the most part, shut down by the Tiger D all night (hence, JH throwing the ball for the 2 point conversion) and I would hate to have to rely on throwing the ball in OT. My honest answer deserves one from you-what are you implying or why are you asking?

My HS AP Math (from a different venue) was from the same textbook as your Ram Math. If the QB doesn't fumble, he is down not in the endzone, therefore not qualifying for the score and the Tigers take over on downs. Kudos deserve to go out to the Tiger D for stopping him and forcing the fumble. The blocked punt was a great defensive play by JH and poor execution by the Tigers-it took way to long to get the punt attempt off after an excellent snap. Being a former Ram, you should remember the two blocked extra point attempts against your team along with last nights blocked punt-these have equally to do with poor execution from a normally bullet proof special teams squad. The "un-X-like" mistakes were a delay of game call while attempting to audible, a lineman jumping on 3rd and short inside the JH 30 with "mo" on our side and another drive killing penalty in the 2nd quarter which resulted in a Tiger punt. Please explain how you "game prepare" for that as a defense and I'll be glad to pass it on to Coach G to use next week against Warren Central. JH played an outstanding game, had a great season and I am not trying to take anything away from their efforts-it is just a fact that the X-Men normally make mistakes like these very rarely at this point in the season. Are you sure the grapes just might still be a little sour with the Rams demise at the Tigers expense?

Henry Clay / Trinity...Let's hear it
That was exactly my first thought! I was trying to make a Ram out of that acronym and wasn't having any luck. Wait I have it-Savoring One Win (over the Rocks in 03) Can Save Our Coach!

You might want to retake your "Talent Inventory" in Rockland. The Rocks arguably have the best group of skill players in the state. Rocks on their own "turf" are too tough to beat-T by 14 and another year of disappointment in Lexington. Hopefully for us Card fans, the Lexington disappointment continues thru basketball season, but that might be a stretch at this point.

Not really, it was on 4th and goal at the one (after being stopped 3 times)when he fumbled. If he doesn't fumble, they still don't score and X still takes over the ball on downs. The Tigers net gain on the play was 19 yards giving it to them on the 20 and only if JH recovers the fumble in the endzone would it have been a TD. On Coach Brown's going for 2-absolutely the right call. It was a no-brainer when considering going into a 10 yard game with the Tigers as the alternative. The Tigers shot themselves in the foot too many times last night to make it a close game. Alot of un-X-like mistakes kept it close. Extremely poor timing on a couple of penalties stalled strong offensive drives that normally would result in Tiger scores and a couple of mental lapses on our part helped give momentum to the Dogs when they needed it most. These are things that should not be happening at this point of the season and I would presume they will be hot topics Monday at practice. Great overall job by the Tiger D containing the Wing-T of JH to 47 yards. I am very proud of the Tigers for hanging tough on the road when it counted most. The JH QB was outstanding making something out of nothing several times. He scrambled extremely well, keeping his composure and completing timely passes or positive runs all night when it appeared the Tiger D had him in a hole with nowhere to go. Great game and season by JH-they played their hearts out while being dwarfed in size. They execute very well and are very well coached-I have a feeling JH will be a common name in KY HS football in the years to come. Great facility (especially liked the Sugar Hill Gang Rappers Delight before the game-ha), great fans and great foundation to build on. There were some typical "on the road" ball spots, clock starts/stops and a very timely "no call" on a blatant facemask but all of this was beyond the control of the JH players/staff. The only major negative I felt all night was what Alabama Larry had referred to last week-the PA announcer needs to GO! His antics are definitely a "black eye" of a class program. GO TIGERS-let's go to Bowling Green!!!!! :dancingpa

I think the Trinity offense will prove to be too tough for Boone Co. to handle. Rocks roll by at least 3 TD's on their own turf.

Stay focused Tigers and conquer step 3 of your 5 step goal to repeat. Swell up D and stop the Wing-T. I like the Tigers by 10 in a tremendously hard fought ballgame. Go X-Men!!!

Congratulations to Trinity's Eric Senn
Congrats to Eric-He and my son became friends back in grade school while attending either KYA or KUNA. The athletic rivalry between the two has been intense on the Football field and Basketball court over the years but they have remained good friends throughout. Always a classy young man on the field and off. :thumb:
