Not a bad list of players.

 

However, its a 2-man race: Burke and Micah.

Its a good list of finalists. Congratulations to all 5, it is a big honor to be one of the very few players ever considered for this award.

 

With LexCath the only team with a shot at the title, I think it is now a 1 man race unless Johnson verbals to UK in the next week.

I suppose this list of players are deserving, but when was the last time you saw a DE on the list? How can one say it's a one man race? Look at the teams Burke has played against!! Why not look at a Petrino, K.J. Black, Senn or X's QB? Is it because these four guys live in Louisiville? These four guys are just as athletic then the ones mention. This isn't a public vs private issue, this is a State vs. Jefferson County issue. I suppose I need to find out the definition or how one qualifies to be on this list because I've seen Burke play and Senn is a better player......period.

As much as you would like it to be the state of KY vs. Louisville, it isn't.

 

And Burke is the best QB in the state, but it matters not. IMO, Johnson & Minton are the two best football players in the state and a lot of colleges agree.

Petrino is a junior.

Who has Burke Played against? I know he played vs. St Xavier. Didn't he play against Highlands and Cov Cath, two of the top AAA teams? I really get tired of elitist attitudes that because one is from a bigger school then they must be better. :irked:

Are you kidding me? Your talking about Louisville getting left out when they usually have at least one player make the finalists each year. There always at least 1 deserving player east of Lexington who gets left out and thats because no one pays attention to EKY schools.

I haven't seen Micah Johnson so it is impossible for me to compare accurately, but I can't see anyone controlling the game like Justin Burke does. He played like a college sophomore against X and appeared very improved in the composure department when under heavy rush. His footwork, quickness, accuracy and intellectual advantage are unmatched from what I have seen in KY this year. Last season Joe Tronzo and crew gave him nightmares all night but this year the young man simply was bullet proof. It seems by his stats that he has put up stellar performances all year, therefore, much deserving of the award. I thought for sure that Ft. Campbell would make it to the finals allowing me to see Micah first hand and form an objective comparison on overall Mr. Football characteristics, but Owensboro Cath put an end to that thought. Anyone out there seen both that can offer some insight?

Sorry buddy but you are on your own at this point. Ballard's QB? Which one of the three that they used this season? Burke and LexCath played X tighter than anyone else this year. You might recall that My beloved Rocks didn't keep it so close. I will trust that the folks at NC State see something in the kid, they know a little more about it than anybody on this board. I would guess that coaches or sports writers establish the list of five from a list of nominees. I only hope that Nick Petrino can become the kind of polished senior leader next year that Burke is this year. FYI, I think he can.

LSU, I'm on my own most of the time. I've watched Burke the last several years and he has received alot of ink. More so than last years Savko. Not sure you can compare Lex Cath to X with T and X this year. Several factors, mainly at the QB spot. I'll compare after 12/2, if that is alright. I knew my comments would stir a few replies. I'd be the first to admit that I love my team's QB...Curley has done an excellent job leading the Tigers to a undefeated season....The other mentioned players from T are also very good. But none of these players can dominate a game like Micah and Burke...It's not just my Opinion...but maybe you should check out some recruiting websites and see how Burke and Micah rank in the Country. The players from our teams....while good....are not on these lists...I would have to trust guys who get paid to find talent over my own regional knowledge...not to mention home team bias!
