Who is in line to be the next coach at CovCath?
I am not slamming anyone. I just feel that based on Dale's record against Lynn Ray that Dale would be excited if Coach Ray came back. I respect Coach Ray and he did a nice job at CovCath. Dale had his number for 10 years though!

What was his record against Dale? I think CovCath only beat Highlands 3 times while Ray was coaching between the years of 1994 - 2004. 3 of those championships came before Dale was at Highlands.

Highlands Baseball or Spring Break vacation?
This is not even close to being the same situation. Here is a closer scenario, "Hey Coach Mueller, I am going skiing for vacation during Thanksgiving Break. Sorry I am going to miss the semi-finals." Would that fly? Dead Period is during the offseason. Spring Break is during the season. Completely different!

I think that Dale Mueller would enjoy life if Lynn Ray came back.

I heard it was Goldie Hawn!

Highlands Baseball or Spring Break vacation?
I think this is a great decision on the coaching staff's part. If you want to become a championship program you have to sacrifice. Football parents know to only go on vacation during the dead period. Great call coaches and good luckk HHS baseball!

How big of an obstacle is the money in hiring a new coach at Cov. Cath?
http://www.nacst.com/2005-2006_Salary_Survey.pdf Here is a link to a salary schedule from 2005/2006 at a bunch of catholic schools throughout the country. Covington is not on it, but Cincinnati, Owensboro and Columbus are. Could shed light on how much the catholic school teachers get paid.

I would say that money is an obstacle, but the biggest obstacle is the Kentucky Teacher Retirement System. Any coach who has been paying into this system for a long period of time cannot justify leaving a public school.

2007 Dixie Heights
4 more chances to get better. Just keep doing the same things. That way "the team from Ft. Thomas" can practice for CovCath during Dixie week.

Partly! It is twice as many practices. The more practice, the more reps! Also if you read my post I explain my point. Summer practice is where the young kids get the most reps. During the season the young kids are on scout team preparing the varsity kids for that week's game. I did not say it is the only way to develop talent, but it helps! No it is not that simple and read the post as a whole! Not just the part you highlight.

Agreed!

I strongly disagree with this. Why do you think Highlands has the "Jimmies and the Joes"? They work hard and develop players 12 months a year. That is why they have a winning season every year and are in title contention every year. It happens, but it is very rare that you just have better athletes and win. That is the excuse the losing team makes for not working very hard! On many occasions I have seen a less talented team win because they were better prepared and more technically sound. Believe it or not, all of the Highlands kids are not born with supreme athletic ability. I can tell you that Dixie will never develop young talent until they decide to have two-a-day practices. Summer time is an opportunity to create depth and focus on the young kids a little bit. Those kids who are not starters get tons of reps during the summer. They become better technicians of their position, become better players, develop more football savvy, and become more confident in their ability.

Got ya! :thumb: I predict "also ran"! Highlands and CovCath are not going to lower their expectations and work less hard. Dixie is going to have to raise the bar. I just do not see it happening if they will not even have two-a-days!

Can you explain the definition of success? Sounds more like "Insanity": Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Seems to me that Dixie is happy with status quo!

2007 Dayton
Not really sure. The sequence has been big class - small class - big class - small class. Dayton will have 18 seniors, 6 or 7 juniors and 10-15 sophomores.
-
2007 Dayton
Starters? Maybe only a couple, but will add a lot of depth and get a lot of playing time. Freshman team was 4-4. Beat Beechwood, lost to Newport in OT, and really competed very well in every game considering there were only 13 ironmen kids on the team.

The kids that will be sophomores have a lot of potential!

Cincinnati Elder's coach applies for Mason, OH opening
OK, then help me out. Explain the open records law to the board. I think everyone would like to know how this information got into the reporter's hands. Who would have to file the open records request if not the reporter? I guess we will just have to agree to disagree about the rebuilding player's trust. Kids feel betrayed pretty easily. Right or wrong, they will feel betrayed in this situation also.

Cincinnati Elder's coach applies for Mason, OH opening
OK, I read your first post. What am I supposed to figure out? That must have gone over my head also... IMO, it still should not be public knowledge! Fact: The reporter filed the open records order. Therefore his fault this is in the paper. Fact: Any coach who plans to go back to his old school will have to rebuild his player's trust. Finally, these coaches applied for a job and have now been hung out to dry! I hope this did not go over your head! Also, I wonder why the list is so small for the Colerain job. A Super USA top 25 team can only get a few applicants. Could it be because of the chance for a open records request screwing them over? Probably!

Did Mike Yeagle apply for the Conner job or not?
Who really cares? Is it even relevant? Leave the guy alone! Trosper is the head coach at Conner. It does not matter if Nick Saban applied at this point in the game. It is a moot point!

2007 Dixie Heights
Not favored, but why not. Bigger school! Better facilities! Open Enrollment! Seems to me like comparable demographics to Highlands and CovCath. I see no reason why Dixie could not and should not compete for this district title!
-
2007 Dixie Heights
Sure they could move up, but in reality if they win the NKY 5A district they will most likely be 5A champs. If they win the NKY 6A district the best they could probably hope for is State Runner-up!
-
2007 Dixie Heights
They could argue that, but IMO that is a loser's mentality and argument. They should embrace it as an opportunity to become elite!
-
2007 Dixie Heights
Why? IMO Dixie should beat CovCath and Highlands. They are a much larger school and loaded with talent every year. Also, the winner of this district will win the 5A State Title more times than not. Write that Down! I say Dixie needs to raise the bar! No reason for Dixie to get blown out by anybody!

Conner Head Coaching Position
It doesn't! I apparently did not read the post the same way you did. I thought 'onetech' stated "2 years of 10 - 0 and nothing else". Other than 8-3 in 2002. He was pretty accurate! On the other hand Conner has some potential!
