Where is the tournament for Freshman?

I was asking around the other day and was provided this information. There are several All-State awards. The one that was released this weekend was the Associated Press which is voted on by sports writers from around the state that work at newspapers that are members of the Associated Press. That is only 16 voters and only one is in NKY. Around Christmas time the Louisville Courier Journal and the Lexington Herald release their All-State teams. BluegrassPreps will have their All-State team later this month. Additionally the Enquirer and the KY Post will have their NKY All-Stars and the NKAC will release their All-Stars and Player of the Year in Division I, II, and III. So we have the following to represent boys from this past football season. Associated Press - voted on by sports writers from the state - 16 voters Louisville Courier Journal - All-State Lexington Herald - All-State BluegrassPreps - All-State team later this month. Enquirer - NKY All-Stars KY Post - NKY All-Stars NKAC All-Stars and Player of the Year in Division I, II, and III.

Those at Boone would like to know as well. Not much has been said outside the doors of the coaches office.

I think the thread was to talk about Shrader leaving as Boone's offensive coordinator. There had been some rumors about Farris not playing football next year. I think some ran with the rumor and not what the thread was intended. Shrader was making changes and trying to get Boone to develop more of a balanced game plan. It will be interesting to see how the play calling goes next year.

Not sure why the side stepping. But I believe this thread is about Coach Shrader being let go this weekend by Coach Thompson. Different approaches to the game, I guess. Not sure what this means to the offense next year. Shrader was well liked by most of the boys and parents. We all wish him well. He brought a new look the typical Boone offense. I hope Boone continues what has been started over the last few years. Another note on this thread. Cory Farris will be playing football next year. I heard he would not play football only if offered a full ride and this was stipulated. I'm not sure if wording like this is usually included in offers. He loves the game. He said he passed on basketball to workout over the winter and be ready for baseball. He did not like showing up for baseball 3 weeks after the tryouts were completed and practice had started. Schools that are in contact with him have encouraged the level of competition he is involved in. Louisville and Kentucky even came to watch him play during the football season. They both said, "Hello, enjoyed watching you play, great game and stay healthy".

Boone and Ryle both have very good running games. The big difference in this game will be Ryle's defense. I think Ryle has the advantage and will win this game over Campbell. Ryle has the deepest defensive team of the 4 NKY 4A teams. This is what will get them through round 2. Ryle's problem from hear on is to continue working on the passing game. Mix in the pass with Murry, Grey and Smitty and they can make it deep into the state playoffs.

Any updates on the camp? Players with good outings? What colleges did attend?

Everytime he pitched against Boone he was tough. Have also seen him pitch in the summer and against other schools and he did fine. He is a very good 3rd baseman, but not a bad pitcher either.

UL did not hold to their promises to Miles. He has since left UL and is at UC. UC seems very interested in Miles. He was on the practice squad last year and did great. He should see time this year. Time will tell.

When is the JR-SR All-Star game? I heard it is at Mienken field. Anyone know the date and times of the games?

From the Enquirer: Ryle-St. Henry postponed: Ryle was leading St. Henry 2-1 in the top of the fifth inning when the 33rd District final was suspended because of lightning. The game will resume at Ryle at 5 p.m. today.

I heard Boone battled back to win this game. Is Boone still in the tournament?

Farris has decided to not play basketball next year. He said he wants to take the time between football and baseball to condition and be ready for baseball. When baseball tryouts start, he said he wants to be ready to hit the field and not play catchup after a long season of basketball.

At the beginning of the year, Campbellsville was ranked in the top 25 NAIA in the country. Any team that is ranked in the top 25 NAIA is as good if not better than middle of the road DI. Campbellsville has a very nice team this year. They have an assistant coach from Canada and he gets some of the top Canadian baseball players to attend Campbellsville. Curley will be a very good fit for this program. I see Curley possibly being more of a position player than pitcher. Many of these schools focus pitchers on the mound and not plate appearences. I think they will want Chris's bat in the lineup. He might be more of a reliever that would allow him to play the field and hit. Good Luck Chris. In baseball, it's not all about DI unless your are talking about a top 25 DI program.

Curley leads in dingers. I thought a post mentioned he hit his 9th HR recently. It looked like Beechwood did not submit their teams stats this week. Curley proabably has the edge. Who is the better all around player? (Offense, defense, base running) That might come into play here.

Boone and Scott slugged it out last night. Boone had 14 runs in the first off of 8 hits and 6 walks. Scott had a big 4th inning to avoid the run rule after 5 and force 7 innings. Scott continued to hit the ball and score, but Boone's 1st was to much to over come. Soph-Mark Reed had his first varisty HR. Scott's new lights add a nice touch to high school play in NKY. It's a shame that more schools do not have lights.

Boone starts out with scrimmages against Lafayette and Beechwood. Then games against Cov Cath, Scott Co and Meade Co.

Yes, Boone's catcher is a sophomore.

Yes, if the run scored before the 3rd out was completed. Umpire will usually acknowledge that the run did or did not score. Any other thoughts?

Cov Cath may make a few errors now and then, but like last nights game against Boone, Cov Cath executes very well. There is no question what they are supposed to do in most all situations. Boone's coach even told his team that the main difference in Cov Cath and Boone last night was playing a team that executes the game well. Boone is a relatively young team that can play with the better teams on a good day. But, they have not found the day in and day out execution that is needed when playing the better teams. If you make mistakes against a team like Cov Cath, you will lose. Boone's 5 errors to Cov Cath's 3 errors, shows that even with Cov Cath's errors they still know how to finish and get the job done. Boone had 9 hits and can only score 4 runs. The boys have to get it done up and down the lineup. Ferrel pitched a good game. Dietz did not have his best stuff last night. But the team did not support their pitchers Dietz/Morgan with 5 errors and only 4 runs. Boone also lost SR-Rathert with a shoulder injury. This has been giving him problems, but a throw to home, took Rathert to the ground. He had surgery last year on this shoulder. He could be lost for the rest of the year. Another whole to fill. Solid second baseman and #2 hitter.
