About a month into the season, who are the early candidates for NKY POY (player of the year)?

I like Chris Curley for Beechwood.

Also, remember that the NKY POY is divided up into 2 categories. One for 1A schools and the other for 2A-4A. So include one for each category.

So Curley would take the 1A division. Possibly another pitcher for the other catagory?

If it's divided this way, I think Curley is a mortal lock in class A. His stiffest competition would come from teammates Sawyer and Muth, I would guess. Is Muth healthy and playing, haven't seen his name in the paper in the early going?

 

Among the bigger schools, I guess with Bleser missing a lot of time, it's wide open. Farris at Boone (or is he too young), Blazejewski at CCH, and Keener at Dixie seem like they have had stand out years thus far. I'm certain I'm missing several candidates from the larger schools though.

 

I think Curley is the overall POY.

Mark Guttridge & Garrett Wagner for Ryle. Both hitting for high average and high on base %. Both very solid defensivly.

Kyle Kramer from Brossart.

I have not seen every hitter in NKY so I may be missing someone.

 

With that said, if any hitter has a smoother stroke than Blazejewski they are big-time.

I know Ryle has a several really nice players, thanks for adding some names. But it seems CSHS81, has reaffirmed my assessment of Blazejewski.

He has been extremely hot lately.

ill put a word in for andrew "blaze" blazejewski as well,... he has been in a hitting slump past few games, but the boy can absolutely drill the ball,... very smooth swing and plays the outfield smart as well. Great kid as well

Curley leads in dingers. I thought a post mentioned he hit his 9th HR recently. It looked like Beechwood did not submit their teams stats this week. Curley proabably has the edge.

 

Who is the better all around player? (Offense, defense, base running) That might come into play here.

You cant go wrong with those 3. :thumb:

Chris Curley- .667 avg, 28 RBI, 28 Runs scored. All 3 lead NKY. I cant find his HR, but I would guess he has at least 13 or so.
