  1. They were the top 2 all year.
  2. BW over Pius in 6th grade boys. I don’t know the final score though.
  3. Pius has kid(s) built like older kids, but not Beechwood. Beechwood has never beaten Pius over the years. This year, they've played them twice, lost by 3 and 30. This is where these teams have an advantage over the others as they've been playing together since 2nd or 3rd grade. For nearly all the other teams, it's their first year together. Guard play is the difference in the 2 teams. Beechwood has the big kid and their 2 forwards can light it up from deep. Guards are small. Plus they only go 6 to 7 deep at most on a 16 kid roster. Pius starting 5 are all solid as is their bench. The big man does not look like a freshman. He's strong with quick feet that causes a lot of problems. Only Grey's big man can really match up with him in the league. Beechwood has to limit turnovers and move the ball on offense, make Pius work defensively.
  4. 6th Grade Boys Championship: Beechwood vs St. Pius at I believe 9:45 Saturday at Conner
  5. There is already a Lexington FC youth organization that has been around for a while. The only way they take the LFC name is if they partner with them which is a possibility since it's a USL level team and not MLS.
  6. I haven’t seen Green play since 6th and 7th grade, however, I would imagine her coordination is catching up to her size. You could tell then she had potential to be a really good player. She’ll be one to follow over the next 3 years.
  7. Great kid and great family. I had the privilege of coaching her years ago during instructional baseball, and I grew up with her father’s family. Her dad was a regular in the gym at Erlanger Baptist back in the day, so it’s no surprise she picked the hardwood. I wish her nothing but the best.
  8. Looks like Wogenstahl didn't play for Dixie.
  9. Need to revamp that offensive line. That was the difference in this game.
  10. For those that officiate, who do you have the biggest issue with? Coaches Players Parents/fans Administration
  11. Dixie made this official today. Patrick Burke is the new head coach. Talking to some in the know, Dixie wanted to look outside and bring in some new blood to the program. Hopefully he can bring the kids out and have some success.
  12. I’ll believe it when I hear Brady say it.
  13. Hopefully said coach is being looked at for his abilities, and not because they have a common connection. Talking to some parents, this program needs a shot of energy put into it.
  14. I wouldn't say Dixie played that bad. They struggled to hit shots early, and forced some things here and there that they shouldn't have. There were a handful of times where they just sat on the ball offensively as Lloyd wasn't extending any pressure. They were packing it in trying to force Dixie to beat them from the outside. Lloyd definitely struggled. They couldn't get into rhythm offensively and gave up too many easy baskets defensively. I spoke to someone who was at their game against HC the other night, and they were impressed by their play. I'm guessing it was just an off night for them as they just seemed to be going through the motions.
  15. I heard it on the radio this morning and had to look it up to confirm. It’s hard to believe.
  16. And the Bengals have never won a road playoff game. I think it's time for these streaks to end this week too.
  17. The time to get to Dixie or SK for coach Woolley is the same. It’s the little ones that will likely keep him from applying to a head coaching job anytime soon.
  18. Love seeing Smith with 25. The kid can shoot and play, but has never really been that assertive on the offensive end. Not sure if it was a confidence issue or not, but she will add another dynamic to the Colonels' offense.
  19. Yes, he had a hand in getting the program started 3 years ago. Same goes for CovCath's program. And I'm not saying the coach needs to be at every game. However, to stop by a game every now and then goes a long way in building a program, IMO.
  20. Dixie likely is the biggest impacted school in NKY by private schools. Dixie's area is also CovCath's primary area (Edgewood, Villa Hills, Park Hills). From a football standpoint, you don't have the kids playing through TF and then leaving to CovCath like you used to. Those kids are now playing for CovCath's feeder program even though they attend school at a Dixie feeder. You will have kids at the starter program leave after a couple years since CovCath's doesn't start until 3rd grade (I think).
  21. Dixie needs someone that's willing to invest in their feeder programs in order to grow the high school program. Being a 6A school, they haven't been able to field a full freshman squad in at least 5 years. Dixie Youth Colonels is finally in place with people running it for the right intentions. Sekowski is running a great program at TF, and he is visible at Dixie Youth games. The high school coach needs to be visible at the middle school and youth programs. It goes a long way with these kids seeing the high school coach watching them play and interacting with them.
  22. Unless you're a goalkeeper on a hot day. Lol.
  23. 1. Grandma's buckeyes followed by my dad's peanut butter balls and fudge 2. Other grandma's hot dogs in BBQ. It sounds extremely basic, but there was something about them as a kid I loved. Both my grandma's had a way of making basic stuff taste so much better than anywhere else. 3. Rudolph 4. Home Alone & Christmas Vacation 5. Festival of Lights - been going every year since a kid.
  24. This game was dominated from Dixie from the tip. Dixie has multiple girls that can score as 5 were in double figures. SK really only has 2 in Webb and Baker.
  25. They have a little bit, but not nearly enough. As mentioned above, game time of meaningful events needs to be moved up to allow kids to watch. They've moved up the start time of some regular season games to help get kids to the field during the week. They need to really promote the younger stars more, but I think they're afraid to upset their old fan base. Today's young stars are bolder and more flamboyant than the young stars of the past (excluding Mike Trout). This lockout is definitely going to hurt the sport. I think the only thing they can do to help bring back the sport is to implement some type of salary cap. You can't have players being paid more than an entire team's payroll. If nothing is done, the contracts are going to get more absurd, and the gap between the top and bottom organizations is just going to grow.
