  1. Thanks for clarifying. Both X and T have played Frosh up to JV.
  2. Freshmen on varsity is a pretty big jump at 6A. I know some schools, including X and T have done it. What positions are these 5? Size?
  3. Didn't finish my thought. Why would they never play ANY Jefferson County teams?
  4. It may have more to do with the Wolford 'experiment' finally coming to an end. A disaster to say the least.
  5. Any news or reports on the incoming Freshman class?
  6. Just saw this and wanted to add my two cents worth. Bellarmine has played D1 LAX for about 10 years, even before the school went D1. They play Notre Dame and others. A great program that recruits nationally. I did not have LAX players. Saint X does win, but it's because it puts an effort into the program. Many scholarship players have been produced. X goes out of state to play better competition. Schools don't want to play here. Many treat it like intramurals instead of a sport. If you don't want to play the best and compete to get better, make it intramurals and give everyone a Tshirt.
  7. Good luck to the Colts. How many Freshman FBers are expected this year?
  8. Coach Meihaus was my coach at Saint X. My Father-in-law also in team picture. Coach Meihaus and Coach Young both played at Kentucky under Bryant. Needless to say our practices could be a little overbearing, and without water.
  9. Thanks for the insight. I, too, would like to see eye protection. I asked the Saint X AD why we didn't play the Lexington schools in Lacrosse. Essentially they won't play us because they can't compete with the Louisville schools. I am obviously a Saint X guy, but have family ties to Manual. My Father and Father in Law went there. FIL and his brother in HOF. Jerry Mayes is a friend whom I knew from Saint X as AD. The Bakers are friends. I grew up in Germantown and used to sneak in the stadium during the 1959 season. Great team.
  10. I really don't know a lot about the situation so I can't criticize, but this reminds me a lot about the Chuck Servino hire years ago. Sometimes what appears to be a fit, isn't. Also, think Will Wolford here.
  11. Like the BG fans here, I love the series, and, like them, I don't like it week 10.
  12. I liken this to lacrosse. There should be more interest. The Central Kentucky schools play, but won't play the Louisville area schools. As a result, there are two championships, neither official, and the KHSAA won't sanction.
  13. Several of the ladies who played on Saturday and then on Monday have college athletic scholarships which may or may not be full rides. Usually partials. My Granddaughter a few years ago had one to a Big 10 school, but like other D1 sports, they own you, and she decided not to go there after signing.
  14. The "wet" field means that it is watered both before and during the game. Apparently gives the ball a truer bounce.
  15. Purple88. My son spoke with a D1 coach and TV announcer after the game who could not believe the officiating. The guy who made the corner call at the beginning of the game, and then the first stroke, had threatened to remove fans from the SHA Ballard game 4 minutes into the game. Having officiated HS FB for 20 years, rabbit ears are the worst thing you can have as an official.
  16. SHA, Assumption, Manual, KCD, CAL, and Mercy have turf fields which are also used for soccer, and in CAL's case, football. No difference. Male and Ballard have grass fields, but Ballard will play on turf on their football field. The colleges play on "wet" fields. They are watered even during games. UL has an excellent program. It is strong in the ACC and in Pennsylvania, NJ. NY. St. Louis has it. Big Ten schools play, as well as MAC. UK, Auburn, and a few others have clubs. SHA goes to Pennsylvania twice during the season to play in a tournament setting with the top teams in the country. That was 5 of their losses. The ACC FH on the ACC network is excellent.
  17. I don't understand why it hasn't caught on in Lexington, or especially in Northern Ky as there are several Catholic schools there. The Catholics and the Privates seem to compete the best. Here, Manual, Ballard, and the Oldhams are catching up.
  18. I don't know a lot about Bowling Green. I do want to say that I am glad that these two teams continue to play each other. It is great for football in the state.
  19. It was in fact a great game. I do question the KHSAA for assigning a first year official to the Sate Championship game. As a point of reference, in 27 prior games SHA had one stroke penalty called, and that was in Pennsylvania. And now, 2 in one game? Anyway, Congrats to Assumption. It was an entertaining game and both sides hustled their fannies off.
  20. Not said by anyone yet, but I want to give a shout out to Owensboro for playing Saint X and to Saint X for playing Owensboro. There are far too few matchups between Louisville and State schools. I like them. They are good for everyone, especially football in Kentucky.
  21. A great game to watch. X had some good speed in the backfield. Impressed with Owensboro. They will win a lot. How many for O went both ways?
