I feel bad for the injured QB. I think the X depth will take over if it is hot Friday night. I am glad the schools are meeting again. 2 out of 3 at DeSales tells me Alan Donhoff is once again making an effort to help one of the smaller Catholic schools financially. I applaud him. I recall the series became non-competitive as X remained true in size and DeSales got smaller. It had always been a competitive series over the years.

Agreed. Sometimes it is the only competition save for the Ohio schools.

I think you came close to hitting it on the head. We were never comfortable when throwing when we had to because we never threw when we did not have to. An offense has no confidence in a pass play called in late 3rd quarter at 3rd and 15 when we have not executed that pass in 2 games except in practice.

We have won too numerous of games to mention because of the running game, if for no other reason than we wore people out. I, for one, don't want 30 passes per game just for the sake of passing. I do, however, expect passing on first down, tight ends receiving, throwing under coverage when the deeps are covered instead of throwing anyway. Have never understood why every pro and college team in America has a pass on the goal line that only the receiver can catch, about a yard deep in the end zone, and sometimes on his knees, but we didn't. Never a fan of Petrino, but dang, copy some of his plays!

I think it is a football issue. Agnes is the same in size, but not enough for football. I think three things, which are actually related. First, the Moms are stepping up. They don't want their little boys to play football. Second, the CSAA went to tackle for 3rd and 4th grades. I think this was a mistake. In addition to the Moms, now if you go out in 3rd or 4th, and get scared, you will never step on that field again. Third, the rise of soccer, and now lacrosse. Travel teams, etc.

St. X and Flaget was the rivalry. They were both Xaverian taught schools. The game was played on Sunday afternoon at the Fairgrounds Stadium. I am sure that Trinity and Flaget were rivals. The problem is that Flaget was only open from about 1948 to 1973. About 25 years. Trinity opened about 1958 or so. I am probably a year or two off on both. Someone can help here.

Thanks. Just out of curiosity, who is responsible for counting? The team or the official scorer? I suspect that there is a lot of changing at the 50 and 75 count.

The comments from the BG fans are quite telling. I am also quite sure that the X Administration have gotten to know Coach Wallace over the past few years with our annual competition. Somethinh tells me they came away impressed with him, as well as his players and their discipline and attitude. Great hire!

This is a difficult one because I, like most people on here, love football. I played in high school and did sustain a significant physical injury. Still played my senior year and no repercussions since. My sons played at the highest high school level, and while I loved it, was quite relieved after each of the last games that it was over, with no significant injuries. I don't know what the answer is, but we can't ignore the injury factor and the subsequent backlash. Neither are going away.

Congrats to the young man. He certainly had a great season. Not to take away from the moment, but I understand that Will Crum from St. X has the same offer. I cannot think of a player from either school going to UK as walk-ons and not contributing. Would like to see some of these young men get scholarships right off the bat instead of later.

Agree totally. Why would you not apply? Doesn't sound like he was all that interested, or his ego is a little bigger than I thought.

I misspoke and generalized. My impression was that the team chemistry was off. Don't know the young man. Just my uneducated impression.

I am Catholic and don't know if that goes beyond the bounds of our teachings or not. But anyway, I do know that X will not take a local transfer for his senior year, and closely scrutinizes senior transfers, and will only take them from out of town, usually job transfers. It helps if Dad went to St. X. I don't know the standards. We admitted the Nagle boy a few years ago. That did not turn out favorable.
