Well stated bruin66. I was a Catholic School AD for a number of years. FB is a tough sport. If you lose them early, you don't get them back. I think the powers that be who changed this were "machos" and made a horrible decision. High schools and colleges are getting away from contact everyday in practice (like I had in HS), and these clowns want to make 9s and 10s hit.

Several reasons, the first being that the census for boys in the Catholic school system is down. I know that Saint X has been planning for the last few years to deal with this. Second, the scare over injury, primarily to the head are keeping players away, primarily as a result of their Mother's protests. Other sports are gaining popularity. Third, the rise in year round sports limits a young man's time and his options. Fourth, and this is simply my opinion because I think it was an error, the CSAA a few years back made 3rd and 4th grade flag football a tackle game. The flag football was a fun sport. 9 and 10 year old boys wearing equipment and getting hit while in the heat is not fun. Plus, if a young child becomes afraid, you will never see him again.

6A #3 Saint Xavier at 6A #5 Manual Predictions/Updates
Tigercat replied to Bac2369's topic in KY Football (High School)
Is Male pulling players away from Manual, or has higher academics caught upu with Manual, or is it just lower male population in JCPS? Just have a hard time believing Manual has fallen so much in numbers. -
First, congrats to Trinity on winning the regional. Good luck in the State. Secondly, I don't like the new format where only the winner of the region, and not the runner-up, only goes to the state. I understand that in some regions the runner-up really won't be competitive, but in other regions 2 or 3 teams may be competitive in the State. Why the change? Does the KHSAA pay the greens fees for the tournament? Save a few bucks at the expense of high school kids? Just wondering.

No excuses here. Geez. Just look at the score. There is always a pendulum. Some are just longer than others!

Wasn't there. Didn't see the game. It's obvious X got a beat down, so no excuses. This wasn't a 2 point game. I will say, however, that when my sons played they all complained about T calling the cadence causing false starts.

Sacred Heart Academy fills out its aggressive scheduling this weekend by travelling to New Jersey to take on Nationally #1 ranked Oak Knoll, N.J. (9-0), #2 ranked Eastern Vorhees, N.J. (7-1-0), and #19 ranked Wyoming Seminary, Pa. (8-0). SHA will play Eastern Vorhees on Friday and Oak Knoll and Wyoming Seminary on Saturday.

Three Louisville area teams traveled north to Philadelphia this past weekend to compete in the prestigious Max Preps Field Hockey Invitational. Teams from around the country competed, especially those teams from the Northeast and Atlantic coast where field hockey is especially strong. Sacred Heart went 0-3, playing three games in less than 22 hours, one of which was OT. Assumption went 1-2, and Manual 3-0. The scoring confirms that these three teams are competitive with the best of the best, with Manual showing why they are ranked #1 in Kentucky. SHA and Manual will play Tuesday in a rubber match between them, SHA having won by a 3-0 score, and Manual winning 1-0 in the Apple Tournament final. Should be a great game to be played at SHA at 6:45. Freshman and JV games precede the varsity match.

The BG and X relationship over the years has been a good one. Coach Wallace continues to speak highly of the Purples, and deservedly so. Hope the series continues for many years. I would have expected nothing less of the BG administration and crowd. -

This weekend three of Louisville's finest will travel to Pennsylvania for MaxPreps National Invitational. They are Manual (#15 nationally), Sacred Heart (# 18), and Assumption. The competition is for the best schools nationally, and regionally. SHA will play New Trier (NJ) #11 nationally and # 1 Midwest; The Hill (Pa.) #14; and Notre Dame (Md.) #10, Mid-Atlantic. Manual and SHA are ranked #2 and 3 in the West/Midwest. -
I agree on the end of the first half clock. I have not heard an explanation, nor have I even heard anyone question this decision. Has any been given?

6A #1 Trinity at 6A #2 Male Predictions/Updates
Tigercat replied to Bac2369's topic in KY Football (High School)
I'll take Trinity in a surprisingly low scoring game. -
I think Male's stadium holds the crowd. Visitors seats are far better and bigger than ours. I agree lighting does seem to be an issue.

If the announcers were wrong, and later corrected, then I was wrong or assumed more also. I don't mind getting beat up if we are outplayed, and It was obvious that we were. We are big boys and can take it. I do think that X has a good reputation among JCPS, and state schools for playing everyone with a big lead. I think Mike Glaser was good at that. My point is simply that if a team waves the white flag and subs, do likewise. I can't deny that some scores get out of hand.
