A nice win for the Lady Saints against a 10th region foe.

The Mason County freshman ran their record to 9-3 on the season with the win at Pendleton County. Tyler Black led the Royals with 18 points. He was followed in double figures by Josh Harris with 13. The Royals return to action Monday night at the Fieldhouse at 6pm to play Bryan Station.

This will be the 4th meeting between the two teams this season with St. Patrick leading the season series 2-1. Who wins this game when it matters the most in the All A?

There aren't players that are high profile according to the hoops scout guru's across the nation like Miller was a year ago, but collectively this group of players are talented and each class has someone or a few players that are talented, have several different variables that they bring to the court. Again I will restate what I said in my first post, no there aren't any ticket drawing players yet, but collectively this group is a very talented bunch. Like Mcpapa says in a post above, 4 dollars is not bad to watch 2 games and I agree, but when you have a medium size family that sometimes puts a crunch on a household of lets say 5-6. By the time the gate, concessions roll around its an easy 30 dollars for a family of that size. I know the admission is reasonable for two games, and no I don't have a real solution. Just dropping possibilities to the decline of the attendance. I still say Title IX is a bit of the problem as well or at least a contributor. Again these are my opinions and no you don't have to take a honorable bow out 31.

I was going to include that in my earlier post as I agree, but I thought I had wrote enough. Families with kids, especially little ones, its very hard to get them out in temps as cold as we are experiencing.

Disagree, the talent level hasn't fell off that much if any at all. Lofton was a draw when he played for many different reasons. The economy is a difference from 2003 to present day. In fact there is a boat load of talent from the freshmen class up to the senior class presently. Mason Countys last appearance in a championship game at rupp before 2003 was 1981, so there is another factor for the large crowd on that March night. Someone help me out here, does the school system still offer incentives to students to get in free at games like for grades, etc? Some of these games are affected by Title IX, which girls games and boys games are on prime time nights. Such is the case coming up on February 6th when Mason visits Clark. The Mason girls will be on the road to Brossart the same night. Prime time nights are killing crowds, maybe not the major reason at Mason County, but across the board it has to hurt schools across the state. Just my opinion, I know when I was in high school years ago, there were different incentives for the student body to get in, ticket prices weren't sometimes five dollars and the crowds with much less talent level on the floor were greater.

Mason County's 7th,8th, and 9th is flat loaded. Two freshman and a 7th grader start varsity, with the JV comprised mostly of freshman. The freshman team is mainly middle school players. Very young squad that is only gonna get better in due time.

Fair enough, it might just have something to do with something bad being in the air.

There is not another Class A school in the region that can touch the hospitality room of Deming High School. Fine representatives who work it, outstanding food and selection is unlimited.

I will say it again, give Coach Breeze a chance with this group and the groups in the next few years and he will get everything out of them that is possible. Let him coach, knock out the outside distractions, and you will see progress. The region is full of talented coaches and you can add coach Breeze to that list.

Actually the stall ball would have lasted longer than Andy Clark allowed it to happen in the first half. 4:40 left on the clock before the half and the clock ran all the way down to the 2:20 mark and someone yelled GO but it came from the stands and Clark was about 25 feet out and let the ball fly(not that he hasn't hit it before from that range) but according to Coach Hinson, he wanted to melt it down to about 5 seconds left to get the shot. Coach Hinson had 3 players with 2 fouls, all 3 starters and with Thompson out he was limited. In my opinion, Coach Hinson has tons of energy on the sidelines and all he tries to do is get his players to feed off that energy. I think the two coaches will be fine with one another, frustration set in on the official scorebook that took a point away from Stephen Mason. Actually on the 15-4 run that St. Pat put together late in the 4th, the game is tied at 50 instead of Deming being ahead by 1 at 50-49. The outcome is still 2 points instead of 1 so the scorebook issue is over. Give it to Kyle King for knocking down 8 out of 10 free throws down the stretch to seal the win.

This play did not decide the outcome, there was still 3 plus minutes on the clock when this occurred. The fact of the matter is Mason rebounded the miss free throw, the buzzer sounded and Campbell County stopped dead in their tracks.
