Lexington Catholic 64 Mason County 61 (OT)

Recommended Posts

After Mason had a eight point lead at half, the offense was as cold as the weather outside. Mason only shot like 31% and was something like 5-27 from three point land. Middleton scored 12 points in the first quarter and never scored another FG until the tied the game up at the buzzer. Mason scores the first three points of OT and have a break away with Middleton and only Sanford back with four fouls and Middleton fades away with a wild shot instead of taking it to him. LC scores the next six points to take a three point lead and Mason gets a wide open look for a three at the buzzer by Gilbert but it does not go down. On the Bright side Setty played the best game of his young career. He scored 29 pts and had 17 boards. Mason needs that effort the rest of the way and get Pawsat back on the floor. Mason must learn to put these types of games away. A Good competitive game.

Sloppy game on both sides,Mason Let this one get away they lead by 12 in the 3rd and then just went flat out cold.Shot 19% for the 2nd half after 50% for the 1st half,Give LexCath credit they fought and fought and took one.Mason did play without Starter Neal Pawsat again tonight though.Don't get any easier for the Royals as Madison Central comes to Maysville Tuesday night.

Catholic has a way of doing this to the other teams. I am sure that the Royals will bounce back from this loss.

Royals have a huge second quarter to take a 9-point halftime lead, only to go cold and lose their intensity. Middleton hits the shot at the buzzer to send the game into OT; but several missed opportunities/poor shot selection result in the loss. Great look for Gilbert at the end of OT, it just didn't fall.

Monster game for Setty tonight, and congrats to the Knights on the win. These two teams always seem to play down to the wire.

Home many points did Vee Sanford have?

I didn't catch the stats. He was obviously hampered by a bad right wrist. Pretty much every shot he took was a floater. Tried his first 2 FTs left-handed; missed them. Took the rest (maybe 3 or 4 more) right-handed, but missed them all (as I recall).

I'm guessing he scored something like 10 or 12. Botkin had a nice game; he basically led the 2nd-half comeback. #23 also had a good game, including the 2 FTs at the end.
