Is the Danville staff finalized yet and if so, who is on staff and what are the roles. In this day, a Head Coach has to have a solid staff around him if the program is going to succeed. The days of "a staff of one" are over.

The more that comes out about Breathitt, the more this stuff sounds bad...

While Lincoln County returns a nice group of key players both on the lines & in the backfield, so does North Laure, Madison Southern & Pulaski Co. Will be interesting to see what LC's out of district schedule looks like.

I guess that is exactly why I thought there might be more action around it. Not that the State coming in would be any indicator that sports and clubs are going to get more or less attention/support. Honestly, that could go either way if the leadership that the state puts in place has a grasp of how important extracurricular activities are to a successful high school. However, many times when the state comes in there are many changes made on the teaching level. From that standpoint, if new blood were to come in and also be able to coach, that might be a recipe for change. I have no dog in the fight, but I do think what ultimately happens with Breathitt County will be a big story over the next few years in athletics, particularly football. If &when Coach Moore is named as Head Coach, no doubt he'll do a solid job as he seems to have certainly earned that opportunity. Going to be tough for anyone to follow Holcomb at Breathitt, but in the mold of Eviston at Newport Catholic and some other cases, perhaps a successful former player can expand on the tradition of winning.

Has Kyle Moore in fact been named Head Coach. I'm surprised this opening is not drawing more attention & conversation.

Wayne County is returning a tremendous amount of talented players from a team that was one of the best in school history this past season. They took State Champ Central to the wire and continue an upward trend. Coach Thompson has done an outstanding job with the Wayne County program and the success they are having now is well deserved.

Joking aside, I think GURU should see if he can get Coach Smith to sit down & do a live stream webcast interview to answer the questions everyone wants to know. If this thread is any indicator, it'd be worth the time.

That fast break offense stuff is pretty cool until someone throws a pick on the 1st or 2nd play of the game and their offense doesn't see the field again for the remainder of the 1st quarter...

My mistake. Must be an error on the KHSAA page for 2009. There was one listed, but then when I looked, lots of others had tie listed as well. There was no indication of a tie on the actual game listing. 9-4 record that year.

A 36-14-1 record over last 4 years & those 2 1st rd exits mentioned were the first 2 seasons under Clevenger. That's not too bad considering the competition at the 6A level.

The Times Tribune sent out a Tweet last night that South Laurel would name their new Football Coach today. Anyone have any further information?

If it was an agreed upon deal as is suggested here, wouldn't Breathitt show their hand defensively as to how they might want to adjust? I don't doubt any of this, but there are holes in both sides of the argument. Looks like Belfry must've paid close attention to what the saw on that film...

The difference here as compared to the Harlan Co & Mercer Co situations is that in each of those cases schools were closed in consolidation. Here you have a brand new school added to the mix & Nelson Co HS numbers for classification were not known officially until late in the process.
