Huge win for Knox Central as they secure the #2 seed in the playoffs.

This officiating crew wanted to be the show instead of allowing the kids to play. Some of the calls were legit, but several were real head scratchers. That being said, Corbin cannot have somewhere around 150+ yards in penalties and expect to get to where they want to go. Casey Co. is legit and gave the Hounds more than they wanted tonight. Depth may be their Achilles heal though, but they will be a tough out in the playoffs.

I agree. The easy teams that are on their schedule were beating Casey Co. just a few seasons back. Casey Co. had success moving the ball on Corbin last year, but seems like turnovers plaqued them. I expect a closer game than most do, something like 28-14.

The KHSAA is doing everything they can to help us out, even heard they were thinking about moving Belfry, Central, Boyle Co. and a couple of others out of 3A and replacing them with Middlesboro, Clay Co. and Betsy Lane.

Their district will win at least 3 out of the 4 playoff games against the opposing district this year, so it must be stronger than at least that district.:no:

I believe that Corbin will win, but also believe that it will be a very competitive game, especially if Casey Co. can eliminate the turnovers that hurt them in the Bell Co. game. Last years playoff matchup between these two was a very good game with Corbin pulling away late after leading by less than a TD heading into the 4th quarter. I am very impressed with the Casey Co. coaching staff and the job they have done there, so I wouldn't count them out just yet.

Casey will score at will against McCreary. Their defense is still a long ways from being competitive.

Was Ashland missing a lot of players when they played Harlan County? Knox Central beat Harlan County badly and Harlan Co. beat Ashland pretty soundly as well. I guess that Knox Central's loss to Danville keeps them from getting any Top 10 mentions, but that game was a lot more competitive than the score would indicate. Knox turned it over 7 times with 2 pick 6's and 2 scoop and scores, plus they were playing their first game without their best player and team leader.

Wow. If that happened, the kid or kids need to be reprimanded. If it happened more than once, then that's on the North Laurel coaches.

Whitley Co. was the more physical team and were able to run the ball very effectively against the Bell Co. defense. The Colonels even their record at 2-2.

This is the ONLY reason Belfry beat Corbin last year, probably the year before as well. Corbin wasn't use to playing in the second half, therefore the players got tired and just couldn't perform. It obviously had nothing to do with the fact that Belfry was better.:sarcastic:

It's hard to know how North Laurel will respond to good competition. I believe that North has a lot of talent and is well coached, but I'm just not sure why they continue to schedule so many easy wins. I'm a believer that you need to test yourself if you want to improve for a playoff run. Somerset by 7.

Corbin will be moving up to 4A for sure. They have 960 students in the High School this year which will easily move them to 4A. If Belfry is moving to Class 2A, maybe we can run some students off and stay in 3A.:lol2:

Bell Co. at #6 seems way too high to me. I guess you can tell that the AP voter from the Middlesboro paper must be Dudley Hilton fan.:sssh:

Corbin would have to play mistake free football while keeping the ball away from the Pirate offense to be able to beat Belfry. Corbin has not shown the ability to do this so far, averaging about 2 turnovers and 10 penalties per game. Belfry has a lot larger margin of error than Corbin does.

Corbin has been very good against the deep pass all year, and the opponents have tried it too many times for their own good in my opinion. The difference is that Beechwood set Corbin up for the long throw very well and then executed it.

Championship teams don't make the mistakes and commit the penalties that Corbin did tonight. Corbin has a lot that needs to be cleaned up to be considered a true contender, but I imagine the coaching staff will have their full attention the next couple of weeks and will be working on getting it done. Coach Haddix scheduled these first 5 games so that weaknesses would be exposed before it's too late to do anything about them. Beechwood was the more disciplined team tonight and also the better team.
