I've been waiting for years for someone on here to prove that Uncle Bill's "moral/ethical core" is any worse than that of George W. Bush. I am just not convinced by all the right -wing Sunday School teachers that "W" is anymore moral in his core than Uncle Bill. Does anyone on here know the two men well enough to make a definitive judgment? I don't think so. The only thing that can be said for certain is that Bill is the much more intelligent and politically shrewd man. I certainly don't trust "W" anymore than I do Bill. In fact, probably less.

Read Coach T's post and I don't think anything more needs to be said about the state of Corbin football. Those '76 and '77 Hounds teams were the toughest I've ever seen.They would flat bust you in the mouth and feel mighty good about doing it. I don't want Sunday School boys on my football team. Football is a tough sport and I want TOUGH guys on my team. This Corbin team is on the "soft serve" side and the program is not what it once was. I have fond memories of those '76 and '77 teams(still bothered by that 14-13 loss to Mayfield).

Corbin's ducks stay pretty much in line this week against PC, but get knocked back out of line next week in the 'Boro!

While Corbin's performance was better, particularly in the second half, let's not get all warm and fuzzy about home field losses.We shouldn't feel good about losses here in Corbin. A return to the elite status that we all grew accustomed to in the '70's and '80's will see the Hounds regularly stomp a mudhole in teams like Bell and M'Boro.

Coach Burchette and his strength program really helped bring the Hounds up to the dominant power it was in the '70's and early '80's. Also, some of those '70's teams included some of the toughest, meanest, nastiest, boys ever to line-up on Friday nights. Where are the John Francioni's on this years's team? Where are the RC Thomas' ? What about Ronnie Watkins? These were guys that looked 25, had full facial beards and facial scars, and God-only knows what they did prior to the start of the game or what was on tap after they pulverized another opponent 63-0. Teams that played Corbin back then had a geniune fear for their safety and well-being. Teams were intimated and knew they were going to lose BEFORE game's beginning. Sadly, it is no longer that way. The Hounds have lost their edge. They have lost their toughness.You guys can debate the reasons for this. I'll pull out my old high school annuals and remember the glory days...the days of Corbin and M'Boro for winner-takes-all district and playoffs. You can have your Green County games(and now Garrad and Wayne). I remember old school TOUGH, take no prisoners blood and guts on Friday nights. The Hounds have lost their toughness. They no longer strike fear into opponents. Teams now feel they can walk onto the hallowed grounds of Campbell Field and come away with a win. I'm hearing comments from fans(both Hound and non-Hound), former players(both Hound and non-Hound), and other observers from around the area, that Corbin has lost its swagger, its mystique, its TOUGHNESS. A father of a player from one of Corbin's opponents recently told me that his son said, "Corbin is just a bunch of pansies. They are not tough like they used to be." Teams like Lynn Camp , South Laurel, Williamsburg, Knox Central, and Whitley Co. view themselves as Corbin's equal(or superior). Such nonsense used to not exist. Again, you guys keep debating the reasons for the fall from glory and what needs to be done to return to the top. But face reality right now, Corbin is no longer a top tier football program. It is in the same league as the schools mentioned above. Four straight losses to South, a loss to Williamsburg, and pre-season losses to Lynn Camp and Knox Central will attest to that. Having said all this, good luck to the Hounds tonight against an always tough Hilton-coached Bell County squad. It's time to regain pride and toughness and show it on the field instead of just mouthing it. My very educated guess is that the Hilton's Hosses and Roark's Roughneck's will just reinforce for all of us just as far the once mighty Hounds have fallen. I'm gonna go listen to a little Springsteen's "Glory Days" before having to endure the pain later tonight at Campbell Field. Good luck to the Hounds tonight. Nowadays, we need a lot of it.

The water"thing" is simply a sign of just how far this once powerful football program has fallen. Celebrating a home win over a lowly opponent like LCA(2 TD's called back by penalty or Corbin might be 0-4) with a water bath is a testament to Corbin's status now as a third tier program. The present incarnation of the Hounds would do well to compete against Lynn Camp, Williamsburg, North/South L., Whitley, maybe even Knox C. Hopefully, Corbin can once regain some degree of its glory-filled past. I can remember when the Hounds could compete with and punish any team in the state, regardless of class. Today's Hounds resort to a silly celebration over a hapless 1A team at home. Very sad.

Put the Wilfred Bremley look-a-like out to pasture. I loved the '70's, but, like the Brady Bunch, they're gone. Corbin needs new blood, more imagination.

From what I seen from the Hounds this season, SL can play "Name that Score." South by a boatload unless Corbin gets divine intervention or lots of homecooking.

The Corbin-Desales game was an excellent one from a fan standpoint. The Blackwood injury was unfortunate and seem to deflate the Hounds.

Who will be playing in Corbin's Pigskin Classic next season?

In response to a previous poster, Corbin has a fine girls basketball coach. Jennifer Parsons has already enjoyed a nice measure of success and will continue to build on that. On the football side, the Hounds should be fine next year, Cashen will be one of the top QB's in the state, and the youngsters will have a year of added experience under their belt. They could make a run deep into the playoffs. This year was a tough one for the Hounds and many of their "loyalists." Some live and die with Corbin football. Sure, for some it is all about "pride and tradition." For those who have yet to learn that football is just a game, Corbin football is in their blood and they take offense to any criticism of the team, the coaches, or the program as a whole. The fact that Lynn Camp was the team that Corbin had to share the limelight with this season was just a little too much for some ardent Hounds fanatics to deal with. One Lynn Camp football mom shared with me some feedback she had gotten from some Corbinites who had expressed the "Corbin is Corbin and Lynn Camp will always be Lynn Camp" philosophy. Sorry, Corbin, that Mitchell and the Campers stole some of your thunder this season. I know many of you never envisioned such a scenario.Redhounds, work hard during the offseason, inject a little new blood in the coaching staff, and maybe you can be better than Dave Mitchell's Wildcats next season and have a winning season again. "Pride and tradition" can only take you so far(it has the Hounds sitting on the couch and watching Somerset(1A) and Bell County(3A) play for state titles. It's time for some roundball , Hounds' fans. Even with Cody Dixon suiting up for the Campers, I believe the Hounds can take the Campers in basketball.

No, I have never had harsh words with the guy. My sister used to be around the girls' basketball program when he was coach and I didn't like some of the things I heard. I'd like to see him drawing his retirement check.
