Not quite the mountains, but Ashland High School's JP Walters kicked a field goal in 1952? to beat Ironton,Oh 3 - 0, which if I'm correct is the only game decided by only a field goal in Ashland's history.

Maybe not a state wide memory but I remember the '95 SK/Holmes game. SK had to win to make the playoffs, Holmes had a 20 point plus lead in the 3rd quarter and roared back to take the lead. Holmes had one more shot at the win, drove the field and had a last 2nd field goal attempt for the win. Holmes' kicker missed to the right and took a dive, never appeared to be touched but roughing was called and on his second attempt he converted and Holmes went on to the playoffs, great game.....for Bulldogs fans.

I don't remember the details, but I seem to recall a playoff game in the late 90's at Bell Co (when the only water within 100 miles was on the playing field) in which a late field goal made allmof the difference.

St. X beat gave Lex Cath their only loss last year on a last second FG.

Lex Cath came from way behind on Harrison Co last year to kick a winning FG under 50 seconds. Both of these FG's were long and clutch!

3 weeks ago Mayfield kicks a 44 yard field go with 20 seconds to go to knock of Hopkinsville 34-33

LaFayette a week ago kicked a 40+ yarder with 5 seconds left to beat Boyle. It was a definate big bummmer.

I was thinking of this same one. It was a playoff game and Highlands went on to State after that. I just remember it as a cold misserable night. But that last play made it all worth while.:thumb:

Last year JC missed a field goal as time expired to lose a game as well. Also, Ashland lost by 1 point to Ironton last year and missed a field goal as time expired...:cry:

Referees are human, they make mistakes just like everybody else. The Johnson Central faithfull believe that field goal was good, Ashland got the win though. The game this year wont come down to a field goal.

In Tim Grogan's senior year at CCH, the Colonels went over to Highlands for the regional championship. Highlands layed a 30 something point smackdown on CCH earlier that year, but CCH ran a trick play and extra point to take a 3 point lead late. Highlands missed the field goal for the tie.

 

3 seasons ago CCH travelled to the Pit to play Elder high school, and back-up kicker Tony Roch kicked a field goal at the end of the game that soared over the post of the upright, and was virtually impossible to tell if it went in or not without replay - GCL officials callled it no good. Noone really knows for sure if it was good or not.
