  1. Dixon caught a 44 yd pass and takes it for TD Bad snap on the XP and it is 20-0 Pirates Floyd Central, wearing sharp looking Jacksonville uniforms, but unable to get much going against the Big Red Machine tonight. End of the 1st quarter
  2. Belfry throws a TD pass to the tight end, Justin Barker and their speedster running back Isaac Dixon breaks a long run for another TD Pirates 14, Jaguars 0 4:12 1st quarter
  3. It's only a half stick of butter. :idunno: I am thinking I need to add about a pound of bacon crumbles to the finished dish.
  4. Threw together some bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers with the burgers tonight. Delicious I haven't tried it yet, so tomorrow will be a test run. From the looks of it you put in a bunch of butter and cream cheese with whole kernel corn and season it. Here is the recipe I am going to try... [h=2]SLOW COOKER CREAMED CORN[/h] yield: 6 SERVINGS prep time: 10 MINUTES cook time: 3 HOURS, 15 MINUTES total time: 3 HOURS, 25 MINUTES So rich and creamy, and unbelievably easy to make with just 5 ingredients. It does not get easier than that! [h=3]INGREDIENTS:[/h] 3 (15.25-ounces) cans whole kernel corn, drained 1 cup milk 1 tablespoon sugar 1/4 teaspoon pepper 8 ounces cream cheese, cubed 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, cut into thin slices [h=3]DIRECTIONS:[/h] Place corn into a slow cooker. Stir in milk, sugar and pepper until well combined. Without stirring, top with butter and cream cheese. Cover and cook on high heat for 2-3 hours. Uncover and stir until butter and cream cheese are well combined. Cover and cook on high heat for an additional 15 minutes. Serve immediately.
  5. Burgers and dogs on the grill tonight. Tomorrow night will be venison steak, baked potatoes and some crockpot cream corn. I bought a pork loin today that I will either smoke or fix in the crockpot in the next few days.
  6. I love what Fulton County is doing, and that they have found some out of district opponents that they can get some W's against, and it is a testament to their improvement that they are in this conversation. This is the kind of story that makes high school football so much fun to watch, and I always pull for the underdogs. That said, they won't be able to beat Russellville. I hope I am wrong and if I am, I will eat my crow.
  7. @sidelinedoc did you make the game?
  8. Unique idea. At first blush I think I like it for freshman and JV games where participation and reps are (or should be) the main objective. There is no playoffs at stake, and we are too wrapped up in winning and records as it is. I don't think it has a place in varsity, or any level where wins and losses have an impact on post season play. What has the reaction been to this method? I can imagine that implementation could be HUGELY unpopular among the fans, and probably the players too.
  9. This one is a little better up front, IMO. They don't have a Pugh on this team, but they have two Roberts' in the backfield and several nice receivers.
  10. I read today that Pikeville's total yards was 407 instead of 470. I'm not sure if I misheard it on the radio, or if they misspoke. Either way, that is a lot of yards and they outgained the Pirates on the night.
  11. Pikeville won some battles but Belfry won the war. The Panthers outgained the Pirates 470 yards to 355.
  12. For real. They are balanced and they have playmakers abound. Roberts runs the RPO well and makes good decisions. The OL is getting a good push and they are gaining yards in chunks on Belfry. And they can throw too but have 3 interceptions tonight I think.
  13. The good guys in red.
  14. This is a good Panther team too. Very solid on both sides of the ball. Turnovers have hurt them tonight but they have moved the ball well
  15. Connor Roberts is fun to watch
  16. Belfry has opened things up early in the third quarter. They are attacking the edges more and running less between the tackles.
  17. 22-15 Belfry Halftime
  18. 22-15 Pirates. Panthers with the ball at midfield 40 seconds to go
  19. 15-7 Belfry 4:33 2nd Q
  20. @ATLCat thanks for posting that video, I've never seen it before. I really like that perspective from field level. And that 2015 team was very fun to watch.
  21. Rankings are more art than science, especially in the first 1/2 of the season. The more they play, the clearer the picture will get.
  22. I think they do have a chance to win this one. Roberts is the type of QB that gives Belfry fits. A mobile QB that can throw, paired with a good line that can hold their own has been an Achilles heel for Belfry. The Pirates will try to take away the run, and keep Roberts in the pocket and take their chances with the ball in the air. They will rush 3 and drop 8, and that formula works well for them unless they run up against a really mobile QB who can hurt you with his feet. It also leaves about a 8 yard seam in front of the linebackers that is ripe for the picking if you are content with taking those short gains instead of going for home runs. This year it may be a little more scary for Belfry because they are not yet where they want to be in the secondary. I don't know if Pikeville is good enough on defense to consistently keep Belfry off the scoreboard, but if they can limit them to 21-28 then the Panthers have a shot, IMO.
  23. They aren't going to beat CAL or Beechwood. So they have to beat Conner, Lloyd, Newport and Holy Cross to break even and avoid the losing regular season. I don't personally think they will do that, and likely will end up under .500.
  24. That '89 Belfry team went on to advance to the 3A semifinals. They lost a heartbreaker at Highlands in overtime. I would love to see that video after all these years, I might be able to stomach it now.
