  1. A favorite episode, lol. And my picture hangs in the post office but not many shrines to me at BHS
  2. I'm confused VOR. Are we supposed to pick 3 or are we supposed to rank them 1-6?
  3. Yeah, really. I would have a hard time picking a favorite in 3A right now. If forced to pick one, given their track record I wouldn't bet against Belfry in the playoffs. If you add some 2A powers, I don't think that changes. Danville beat Boyle on a last second FG in horrible weather at home. I'm not sure they would beat them again in the playoffs three months later on a neutral field with all the marbles on the table. The same Danville team struggled to beat Waggener in a game with zero defense. And they barely squeaked by a decent but not great Tates Creek. Point being, one game, one win isn't a good litmus test to judge an entire class. If you throw the top 3-4 2A teams into the 3A mix, I am not sure there would be a favorite. I think you would suddenly have about 8 teams with a shot at a title instead of 4.
  4. Its not everybody but here is most of them
  5. I have been hearing about this all weekend and knew it would be funny, but never dreamed it would turn out this good. These guys nailed it.
  6. You got me, I'm all about the gloat. Those 2A teams could win 3A or 4A. I don't think they would be the favorites over the top 3A teams, but they definitely would have a shot.
  7. An opposing thought might be to ask why do you need the running clock to get your 2's and 3's in the game? If you go for 1, couldn't you still put your younger guys in the game, and they would get more minutes without the running clock?
  8. I am neither for nor against it. I view it as a coaching decision to be made in-game and whatever the coach feels is needed I support it.
  9. Here is a few highlights from WYMT TV. SPOILER ALERT: You will see the rare and mythical Belfry passing TD  And a nice interview with Coach Haywood. HIGHLIGHTS: Johnson Central vs. Belfry
  10. This. Nobody is good enough to beat T. The only way we have another 6A champ is if T has a melt down.
  11. Some of my favorite teams are 4A and I'm not picking on any of them. I hope it's OK with you if I still follow those teams. It is an interesting discussion, and as has been pointed out, there are several 2A teams and a 1A team that could win 3A or 4A as well. That isn't disrespectful to those classes either, just a topic to share opinions on.
  12. I will probably forget someone but here are a few teams I like to see win Phelps Raceland Paintsville Ft Knox Ft Campbell Johnson Central Somerset Garrard Co Hazard Tate's Creek
  13. The podcast is long but worth it. The KHSAA Commish gives a good glimpse into the thinking behind several association decisions on various issues. Whether you you agree or disagree with him, here you can get it straight from the horse's mouth.
  14. This is a good listen. Kentucky.com sports reporter Josh Moore interviewed Julian Tackett, the commissioner of the Kentucky High School Athletics Association, about classification and other issues facing high school athletics. Tackett spoke about the KHSAA's goal being one rooted in participation, not competition (3:20); current discussions occurring about postseason formats (9:58); why school size isn't always the biggest factor in success (16:55); the state of classification in football (25:30); how schools and the KHSAA can build interest in prep sports (33:00); and looked ahead to the state football finals moving to Lexington (41:45). 15. Neat little tidbit... In District 6, the three way tie for 2nd, 3rd, 4th place came down to a tie breaker between Floyd Central, Lawrence County and Pike Central. Pike Central had the lowest point total in the tie breaker and finished 4th. Lawrence and Floyd Central each ended up with 16 points after using 4 wins. In the final week of the season, Betsy Layne, who was 0-9 picked up a win over Jenkins, and that lone point is what gave Floyd Central the 2nd seed over Lawrence County. This will allow Floyd Central to host a home playoff game in its first year of existence. Congrats to the Jaguars and an assit to the Betsy Layne Bobcats.
  16. You should grow some thicker skin if you want to take part in discussions. There is nothing disrespectful in my post.
  17. Even though I would only choose Belfry, Boyle and Corbin as the favorites, I do think Etown and Central "could" win 4A.
  18. OK but that has nothing to do with the question, LOL
  19. Class 3A is a stronger class than Class 4A, especially at the top. This question is not about the strength of the entire class. It is simply asking among the top ranked 3A teams, which of them do you think could win 4A this season? Please vote in the poll. NOTE: the poll is multiple choice, please pick every 3A team you think would have a ligitimate shot at winning 4A. Several top 3A teams have taken some of the top 4A teams to the woodshed. Notable 2017 wins over teams who are currently ranked in 4A top ten. Boyle 38, #1 Wayne Co 14 Belfry 35, #3 Johnson Central 19 Boyle 45, #4 Collins 17 Elizabethtown 55, #5 Franklin Simpson 23 Corbin 36, #7 Knox Central 21
  20. Belfry has been a pretty good 2nd half team over the last few years. An exception to that would be the opening game vs Huntington where I think their youth worked against them, but for the most part, they are good at making adjustments at the half. A lot of that is coaching staff, who are experienced and good at it, but a lot of it also is the maturity of the kids. Even though they haven't been in a hole very often, when they do fall behind they don't panic. Last night after the teams traded a few punts, JC found their stride and really pushed Belfry around for a couple of series. Then we helped them out and gave them the ball inside the 15 yd line on the third one. Their OL is BIG. They are an impressive looking bunch. Belfry completed a long pass for a TD and found a way to get a few stops on defense and the worm turned. Boyle built the type of program that EVERYBODY hoped to have. They won titles in 2A and 3A when there was only 4 classes. And they did it in dominating fashion beating some of the state's best. Then they won at least one in 4A after the change to 6 classes. They were a machine and produced some of the best talent ever to play this sport in KY. Their fans, and others, have said this team is the best they have had since those days and has the potential over the next couple years to be as good as any of those prior teams. That made me take notice. I haven't seen them play, but I have no doubt they are the real deal. Plus they have crushed their opponents, so SOS is not necessarily a good indictor. If all goes as chalk, Belfry and Boyle should be on a collision course. A lot of football to play before we can really talk about that, but it would be a really exciting game to plan for, especially for us fans. As far as Belfry's playoff path, it will likely be like this IF they keep winning. Thomas Nelson @ Belfry Waggener @ Belfry Belfry @ Central Corbin @ Belfry
  21. What an exciting win. Congrats on earning your first playoff birth!! Welcome to Pond Creek.
  22. Very impressive win by the Yellow Jackets
  23. Belfry looked off balance on defense the bulk of the first half. JC had them guessing, it looked like, and they alternated well between the various options out of the wishbone, and bubble screens. Preece does a nice job running that offense. Midway the 2nd quarter the Pirates started to find some offense, and the defense started to figure it out. 2nd half was ALL pirates. It was really fun to watch the Belfry team settle in and get to work. Down 19 to a quality team is a tough mountain to climb, but the Pirates didn't panic and just did what they do.
