  1. I'll call Magee's and have them send me a couple and charge it to your tab. Or I could trade you some homemade combination and mountain moonshine for some transparent pie and something from Pasquale's
  2. I want to try some of that see-through pie @mcpapa
  3. Not just in the mountains. Lots of school districts accept out of district students.
  4. My young hunter and I can't make it this weekend, we are going to try and go muzzle loading next week. The youth hunt is fun, but a month too early IMO. Would rather see it the weekend before gun season.
  5. For when the you-know-what gets REAL... .
  6. Anybody taking any youngsters out this weekend? May have to hunt in shorts if the weather forecast holds, lol.
  7. Thanks. I know CAL won 24-9. I wonder how many possessions Etown had in that game? That is the beautiful part of that type of offense, being able to eat up clock and play keep away from the opposing offense. I know a lot of people don't like the "3 yards and a cloud of dust" offenses but I think they are very sexy, lol. If you limit a team to a few possessions when they are used to having more, sometimes they will tighten up and let it affect them mentally. I know Larue is not CAL, but if they can be patient on offense and move the chains methodically, they may be able to pull off something special. Maybe. Coach Brown is a great coach and I am a fan, but if your kids haven't faced that type of offense, it can be hard to prepare them for it, no matter how good your coach is. It used to be very familiar, but over the last 20 years nearly everybody has gotten away from that type of football. Probably fodder for another thread but I think that is a big part of Belfry and Johnson Central's playoff success. Larue's schedule has been soft, but from where they were last season to where they are now has been pretty dramatic. They may get shell shocked against the more talented Elizabethtown. I hope not, as I am on the Larue bandwagon. Either way, it is good to see them in the discussion.
  8. Who was the last team Etown has played that runs a ball control, wishbone type offense?
  9. Oh My!!! @Randy Parker , you are probably getting Das Boot, lol Happy Birthday Ram
  10. Nope, but I'm looking forward to it, hope it happens.
  11. I think the champ will come from the top 5, and the next 2 certainly could make a run at it. While we are talking about 3A playoffs, I don't know if I am the only one but I kind of looking forward to the cross bracketing now that it has sunk in. That isn't an endorsement of the cross bracketing, because I don't think it is the best option for this class, and I think it is going to increase travel time and expense, meaning schools will make less money. I especially don't think the 4 seeds will benefit. If I put all those practical things aside and just think like a fan, I believe I will enjoy the games. I think it is going to make the first few rounds more interesting and the playoff run will be fun, at least for Belfry. I know Louisville will be a long trip for the regional finals game, if they make it that far. but I think playing teams with different names on their jerseys than we are used to is going to add some interest. I would rather see Waggener/Belfry in the 2nd round instead of another Russell or Lawrence Co game. Mostly I think I am just pumped up thinking about a possible trip to Central. That really gets my juices flowing.
  12. I think I would choose Larue Co @ Etown. I know Etown is the favorite, but I'd like to see how Larue handles themselves, and get a look at the Hawks.
  13. Curious about the opinions of the BGPers. Of the "3 to See" games, which game is the better one to see this week? If travel wasn't a concern, merely from a fan's perspective, which game would you like to beam in to and watch from the stands? Lexington Catholic @ Boyle Co Larue Co @ Elizabethtown Fleming Co @ Bath Co
  14. Sizemore and Wellman are leaders on the field, and everything you want in a football player. They are two of the reasons a Corbin/Belfry game will be worth the price of admission if it happens. Either of those guys can just put the team on their back and carry them when the going gets tough.
  15. I rewatched the game only paying attention to the offensive line play for Belfry. I love the way those guys play. They all come off the ball low and hard, and the best part is watching the guys on the back side going after linebackers or DBs, sometimes several yards downfield. Workhorses, all of them. It is the little things that all add up to greatness, and that offensive line unit does the little things right.
  16. I think Raceland definitely could benefit from the timing of that game. I voted "yes" in the poll but I probably should have voted "maybe". It is really hard both physically and mentally to play two big, emotional games back-to-back. I think Hazard likely benefitted from that last season in the semifinals when they played Paintsville the week after Paintsville won the tough game after Raceland. Hazard had just beaten Pikeville in a much easier game, while Paintsville had used everything they had in the tank against Raceland.
  17. Too bad we don't have a mosquito
  18. Round 1 - The Rebel shoots the Hawk with a 50 caliber mini ball The Knight easy kills the Wolverine with his sword Round 2. The Pirate stabs the Rebel to death as the Rebel tries to reload. The Panther takes a couple stings, but finally swallows the yellowjacket whole The Knight defeats the Redhound with a jousting lance The Tiger stalks up behind the Rebel and he never knows what hit him Round 3 The Pirate is no match for the Panther The Tiger can't find a place to bite the Knight through his armor Championship The Knight defeats the Panther much the same way he dispatched the Tiger Conclusion In the world of mascots, a Knight is going to be very tough to defeat without some new world weapons.
  19. If the top 10 teams in 3A had a Death Match tournament between their mascots, how would it play out? Each match continues until one opponent is dead. It is your fantasy tournament, and you can use whatever criteria you want. Just tell us who wins each round and why. Here is the bracket, seeded by current BGP Rankings...
  20. Seems odd to be discussing Breathitt / Powell and there be no consensus on who is going to win. Nothing against Breathitt, but I hope the Pirates pull off the victory and the district title. :thumb: They won the district in 2015, right? Is that their only district title?
