  1. I've read it before somewhere, it is a power rating, not a scoreboard prediction. Male is rated higher than Simon Kenton, but the formula isn't predicting the score would be 125-114
  2. @theguru, I agree these aren't worth the paper they are printed on, but I don't think the rating for each team is supposed to be a score comparison or predictor of point spread.
  3. Yes, against Huntington WV in game one and it was a problem for them.
  4. If Highlands and South Oldham had played during the regular season the week after SO's mid season bye week, would the same logic apply? Would HHS refuse to trade films because SO is coming off a bye week? Yeah that slope isn't slippery at all...
  5. Tomorrow night on Pond Creek everyone will be "Gettin Down in a Pirate Town"
  6. I still have a hard time wrapping my head around this going on at Highlands. It doesn't compute. I am glad Birdsfan isn't here to suffer through it.
  7. I can't imagine the pain and heartbreak in that kind of situation. Coach Williams and his daughter are certainly in my prayers, and especially the twins. Sports are so insignificant in the big picture.

  9. Doesn't the KHSAA bylaws require you to trade 2 films?
  10. I like Belfry's new playoff shirt one of the local sporting goods stores is carrying... .

  12. From KSR LaVar Ball canceled his press conference in China Yesterday, LiAngelo Ball and two of his UCLA teammates were arrested for shoplifting in China, and after initially planning a press conference for this morning, LaVar Ball has been told to keep his mouth shut, an epic feat for the outspoken father. A few hours ago, Ball, Cody Riley, and Jalen Hill were released on bail, and will stay at a hotel until the legal process is over. Chinese lawyers told Yahoo’s Dan Wetzel that could take over a month, and if convicted, the trio could be sentenced to three to ten YEARS in prison. Wow. Yeah…best to stay quiet, LaVar. and... UPDATE: This doesn’t look good… Here’s what happens when a U.S. citizen is arrested in China: Anyone who breaks the law in China is subject to prosecution under the Chinese legal system. If a person is convicted and sentenced to imprisonment by a Chinese court, this sentence will be served in a Chinese prison. While in China one is subject to the same laws as is a Chinese citizen. A U.S. passport does not entitle its bearer to any special privileges. One should not expect to receive preferential treatment or to expect that the same array of legal rights accorded one under the U.S. judicial system are necessarily applicable in China. Maybe don’t steal in China, especially when you’re a big baller. UPDATE 2: ESPN has more on the story: One source told ESPN that nearly 20 police officers came into the Hyatt Hangzhou around 8 a.m. local time Tuesday and spoke to several Georgia Tech and UCLA players. The players, according to the source, were kept in a room for hours and not allowed to speak to any coaches. “They weren’t messing around,” the source told ESPN. “The kids were scared.” The Georgia Tech players were allowed to leave the room hours later, and the UCLA players were seen getting into a police vehicle around 1 p.m. local time, according to the source.
  13. @Shuttlesworth can you explain what you meant by "two different types of physical"? That one puzzled me.
  14. Belfry has a couple of guys with nice speed in the skill positions, but what you will notice about them defensively is they have really good team speed. They pursue well and they make up open space pretty quickly. They aren't very big on that side of the ball, especially if compared to their most recent defensive teams. They make up for it by being disciplined and quick. I'm excited about seeing Brents and Rice in action in particular. I hope Belfry can contain him reasonably well. As to your comment about Waggener not being able to block, don't bet on it. Belfry plays an undersized front line on D, but their LB's are very talented. Should be an interesting matchup. That is elite speed, not too many of those guys around. :thumb:
  15. Depends on the situation and my mood I like seeing the .30-30 comments and I second the LEVERevolution ammo. There's been more deer killed with a .30-30 lever gun by a wide margin than anything else in history. There is a reason for that and I have an old mid 80's Marlin 336 that is a unequaled for a short range gun in the woods or brush. I don't hunt with it a whole lot, but I do on occasion. Plus it is fun to shoot and I can pretend I'm a cowboy. I used to shoot a Remington 7400 in .270 that I honestly never really liked. I have a 1972 Remington 700 in .30-06 I am fond of and a sweet Winchester Model 70 XTR .30-06 from the mid 80's that is a tack driver. Recently I bought a Weatherby Vanguard S2 in .270 that I am excited to try out. I once had a Savage 110 that was a really nice hunting gun. I can't remember why I got rid of it, it was a long time ago, but I wish I never had.
  16. Belfry sometimes struggles with mobile QBs who are a dual threat. I've seen Brents on film and he fits the mold. Could be interesting.
  17. Agreed, Central should win this one with relative ease, but Floyd Central has had an incredible first year. Coach Hager is off to a tremendous start at Floyd Central. And Coach Dantzler has the Yellow Jackets playing at a high level in his first season also.
  18. I don't mind the idea of rotating brackets, so you aren't playing the same teams every year in the first few rounds. But I think 1, 2, 3 & 4 should rotate with each other and on the other side 5, 6, 7 & 8 should rotate. I don't understand the logic in having 3, 4, 5 & 6 rotate while leaving 1 & 2, and 7 & 8 out of the rotation altogether. And another problem with this alignment is Belfry, Sheldon Clark, Lawrenc Co, etc. should not be D6. They are so far east, they should be D8 like they have always been. That adds a lot of travel to this scenario. Same is true for teams in Russell's district, they should not be D5 because they are too far east.
  19. Belfry plays nearly every game on turf, they haven't played many games on grass the past few years. 2015 1 regular season game and 0 playoff games 2016 1 regular season game and 1 playoff games (Corbin) 2017 1 regular season game and 1 possible playoff game (Central) I haven't noticed a difference in their play.
  20. Do the even make the "turf shoes" now? Don't teams wear regular cleats now on the new turf fields?
  21. I really liked the TNHS program and how they represented themselves last night. Their crowd was small but enthusiastic, even deep into the game when the outcome was evident, they were really supporting their team. The team really was disciplined and they never gave up. The adrenaline eventually wore off some after Belfry pulled away, but the fight was still there. They were a pretty decent football team, and they had some nice athletes. They hung in there with Belfry for quite some time. The future looks bright for the Generals.
