Belfry 36 Cabell Midland (WV) 28

Featured Replies

After jumping out to a 36-14 lead and having a chance to close the game out Belfry limps down the stretch giving up a scoop and score then a bad Offensive possession to set up a late Midland score.

Until Belfry's last drive they basically moved the ball at will and played the top RB in West Virginia Ivan Vaughn about as well as any team has been able to.

Pirates look to win the District Title next week in Louisa.

Big Red Machine keeps on rolling!

Pirates! Pirates! Pirates!

Anyone know if this series is going to continue? I'd like to see it go on, but it's a bit of a drive for both teams and they've each made that drive a couple of times now.

I'm pretty sure Cabell Midland didn't renew. It is a tough game for them given the WV playoff system, it hurts them to lose to a smaller school.

This game was physical, and Belfry needed that. They hadn't had to play 4 quarters in a few weeks and they needed to play someone who would hit back. Even though physically competitive, the game itself wasn't really as close as the final score indicates, as Belfry held a 36-14 lead with under 5 min to go. CM scored a defensive TD on a Belfry fumble by a reserve RB and then got a late TD with just a few seconds left in the game.

Belfry has some defensive problems though against the run and I'm not sure what that answer is going to be. Hopefully they get it ironed out.

Would love to see Belfry pick up Poca.

Might force me to make an additional trip to Kentucky.

Ahh, the good ol' Poca Dots. Easily one of my favorite school names. You gotta love their sense of humor over there.
