  1. Since I am stuck at my desk tonight, and can't go to Belfry's game, I am identifying with BTO. These hard working ladies know what I'm talking about... [video=youtube;-9-R9S1m4dA]
  2. @Walk The Plank , Belfry definitely hit a rough patch in 2015 where they couldn't hold onto the ball, and didn't seem mentally prepared for battle. It happened last year in Knoxville too. They play a tough early season schedule, and then usually have a couple of weaker opponents before this mid season stretch. Maybe it is just a lapse in focus, I don't know, but they have been plagued. If they cough it up a lot tonight, they will get manhandled. This defense is improving, but they need the offense to stay on the field and use up a lot of the clock. Long sustained drives punctuated by 7 points will help the defense more than anything.
  3. Is there any streaming, audio or video, of this game?
  4. I had a fried bologna sandwich for breakfast. German balogna sliced thick.
  5. Make sure you research the differences between the two. For example the custodial controls, the ability to transfer the funds to another family member or back to the parent, etc. 529's are a bit more flexible by my understanding.
  6. Maybe. Most of them don't have the size a D1 program is looking for on the OL. There are 2 juniors who are listed at 6'3, 334 and 6'3, 295 who may get some D1 looks.
  7. Nice thread :thumb: Here is a shout out to all the guys who toil in the trenches. It is a thankless job, but the offense is only going to go as far as you guys take it. I don't know who's line is the best in any class, I don't see enough teams play. But I do know that EVERY lineman deserves to be noticed, they are the workhorses of any team. Belfry's offensive line coaches do a really good job of preparing their guys. Historically, our kids have been the type of kids who make good linemen. Blue collar, strong, hard working kids who are willing to work and take some pride in it. The sons of coal miners and railroad men. Playing in the trenches isn't sexy, but it definitely paves the way. In this offense, being a OL player flies in the face of the old stereotype of taking your biggest, dumbest kids and putting their hands on the ground. Those guys have to think, a lot. It isn't like pass blocking, it is very technical. I have a lot of respect for the hogs and a special appreciation for all of them who are Pirates.
  8. The Elk Night dinner is fantastic. I have heard great things about the Buffalo Night dinner. Buffalo Night - Prestonsburg, KY - Food & Wine Festivals & Events, Kentucky October 21, 2017 - 4:00 - 9:00 pm Proudly Serving the following entrees: Top Round Buffalo Carved on the Line Buffalo Meatloaf w/Cherokee Sauce Catfish with Hushpuppies Buffalo Stew Fried Chicken Buffalo Chili And they have a nice salad bar and desert bar.
  9. I can't get a handle on Waggener. They have 3 of the best players in the state, so they should be very good, but their play has been erratic. They got waxed by Boyle Co and LCA and also lost to 3-3 Eastern. They did hang with Danville in a close loss, but that is their best performance of the season and they don't have any quality wins. In fairness, neither does Larue Co. They are undefeated through a pretty easy schedule, but considering where they came from they are flying high. Casey's best win was against a fair Bell Co squad. This week will clear up some of the muddy water. Waggener hosts Central and Larue travels to Elizabethtown. We won't really find out what Casey Co has until they go to Corbin Oct 20.
  10. Those votes are spread out pretty well around the state. What regional bias are you seeing @thsrocks?
  11. How could an attorney who is employed by a TV network be stupid enough to say that publicly?
  12. What is wrong with some people? I seem to ask myself this more and more these days. Wow. A CBS corporate lawyer said on social media about the Las Vegas shooting that she wasn't sympathetic because "country music fans are often Republican gun-toters" She got fired  CBS fires lawyer for social media comment on Las Vegas
  13. Local TV, WYMT, just reported that CBS misreported and Petty is still clinging to life. They said he is in bad condition and life support may have been pulled, but he is still alive.
  14. Thanks, I couldn't decide if I agreed with you or not LOL.
  15. I understand that and if I was coaching a team, I think I would be too for the same reasons. What I wanted to know, and I couldn't quite decide from your post how you felt, was "Are you saying you think it should be that way for everyone?"
  16. I don't think so. It is my understanding you have 2 scheduling choices 1. Give up a scrimmage and open your regular season Week 0, and get a bye week later in the season 2. Have both scrimmages, open your regular season Week 1, and give up the bye week From Bylaw 23... "d) The season shall consist of a maximum of ten (10) regularseason games and the opportunity to play regular season gamesshall conclude at the end of NFHS corresponding week 17.(1) Any school may play one of the allowable regular season gamesduring Week 0 (normally NFHS corresponding week 7) providedthat the total schedule does not exceed ten (10) regular seasongames and that the allowable number of scrimmages is reducedto one."
  17. So even though you prefer it that way, you are still in favor of giving teams the choice, right? Each team's staff has the choice to do it the way they see fit. For some, having that bye week is desirable. For others, like Belfry, the value of a 2nd scrimmage is preferable. The current setup gives each of them the ability to tailor their schedule to their own needs, and for that very reason I am in favor of keeping it the way it is.
  18. @snakesnot_2000 , do you think we should force everyone to start Week 0 and then have a bye week?
