You're assuming Lawrence Co. should be as strong as the outcome of the Belfry game implies each following week, as if that close outcome meant Lawrence is almost as good as Belfry. That's simply not true. How do you know Lawrence wasn't playing wayyy over their heads that game ? Did Belfry play a sub-par game ? -OR- Is Belfry, Sheldon Clark, and P-burg simply closer in ability than you're implying ? :sssh: If one used your logic, Sheldon Clark would hands down be the best of the three. But it doesn't work that way. One team can match up better/worse than another with personel and play style (not to mention the role dumb luck plays in a game). As an example, last week Sheldon Clark caught Lawrence Co. unprepared for the run out of an offensive spread (typically, the Cards run out of closed formations and throw from the spread). Things like that can cause what should be a close game, to be one-sided. Not to be contrary, but no, Lawrence Co. has NOT been in the same class as Belfry, Sheldon Clark and P-burg for a few years. However, the Bulldog's last 3 games shows the program is definately coming back. Next year, the team will start winning some of these games - look for it. Congrats for a very improved team !!! :thumb:

Knew I was seeing far too many points in the prediction thread. Whenever a team is happy with 3-5 yds./carry in keeping it on the ground, it limits both team's possessions severely. Unfortunately for the Engineers, those kinds of offensive game plans are prone to mishaps because of the number of plays in a given drive (more chance for a mistake). But brother !!! Defensive games are a thing of beauty, IMO... Congratulations to both teams on an obviously great game !!!

Last year, Paintsville kicked some XP's. The unusual thing was...the player played soccer and was female. I think it was very cool. :thumb:

Estill Co. may be the only team in the state more run-oriented than Belfry. :lol: I'm seeing far too many points predicted (for both teams) on the posts in this thread. The only way Breathitt Co. breaks 40 points is if Estill Co. fumbles a few times. Now...none of that means I pick Estill Co. to win. Breathitt Co. has too many weapons to be shut down, but Estill Co. play style will limit the number of possessions all around. Breathitt Co. 28 Estill Co. 14 (with a TD coming late)

Frankly, the scheduling has been, IMO, too aggressive for the Bulldogs. It asks far too much of a young team and new coaching staff. Lawrence would have been better off playing only 2-4 of those teams you listed. A tough schedule is a good prep for the playoffs. However, taking it too far can leave a team disheartened, a coaching staff under pressure, and fans frustrated. :bunny:

Yes, Shepherd played the first half and part of the 3rd quarter. He was a good looking QB. The problem LC had was containing the Sheldon Clark running game out of the spread. I'm not convinced the Bulldog staff had its defense prepared for it. The Cardinal RB broke free into the secondary virtually every time they ran a delay. That RB (#32) could have run for more than 200 yds.. :bunny:

To date, Lloyd has lost to Central Hardin and Beechwood with neither game result ever being in doubt. Still, neither of those two opponents are noted for being high powered passing offenses. My point is... Lloyd's opponents have run against the defense well enough that they never had to use a passing game. I assume you speak well of Lloyd's passing defense from watching them in practice. But can you really know how good they'll perform vs. a quality passing team when it hasn't happened ?!? I'd suggest you wait until a team tries to throw more than 15 passes against your defense before you start crowing about how it "allows :sssh:

This is kind of funny... Neither Paintsville, nor Ashland fans have spoken ill of the Central program anywhere in this thread. But instead of thinking they maybe don't have anything negative to say, the assumption is they do (have negative input) and it's some kind of mystery why they don't post. :lol: The only non-positive thing to say about Central I can come up with can be worded with a question: With all the facilities, funds, and other resources available to the school, why did it take sooo long for Johnson Central to get their football act together ?? There's a lot of excellent big-school football everyone could have enjoyed, but never happened. Rather, the biggest goal of Central football for a number of years was beating Paintsville in the Apple Bowl. I'm glad to see that -finally- changing (though you still see -some- crowing by the Central crowd when they win the yearly mismatch ).

Huh? :confused: In Region 15, test scores from 2007 ranked the top 3 schools: 1. Paintsville 2. Pikeville 3. Phelps While it can be argued the first 2 have had bright days in the sun athletically, the only common factor of these three schools is their relative small size. How does academic excellence lead to success in athletics ?!? :bunny:

I -think- he's referring to the faux the CovCath radio announcer made 2 yrs. ago in his show once it became known CC would play Central where he referred to the game being in "Johnsonville". Some folks put up "X miles to NOWHERE" (meaning...there is no Johnsonville) signs to welcome the CovCath bunch coming up the Parkway. Heck, there were "Welcome to Johnsonville" signs put up at the Paintsville city limits, too. I think a couple of the culprits were members here at the time... :lol: Though it was all done in fun, possibly Ryan may have taken it out of context and applied it to his "Johnson Central gets no respect" thesis. :confused:

With all due respect, in the games they've played thus far, it's not easy to tell where the Juggs are fine and where they're lacking. (and no, Lloyd plays NewCath, but doesn't play Beechwood) :sssh:
