Ballard & Fern Creek
The Bruins won by about 20 in a very ugly game. Cant remember the final score it was something like 90 to 70. It should be up in a few minutes on the Rieherds scoreboard

Your School's All-Time Starting 5
As much as it hurts some to say, Brandon Bender does belong on that starting five of Allan Houston, Jeff Lamp, Jerry Eaves and DeJuan Wheat. Reserves include Lee Raker, Mark Bell, Al Miller, Don Jackson to name a select few.

Ballard 94 Memphis Kingsbury,Tenn. 45 KOB
Actually Kingsbury lost some players after their first game because of an altercation they had. The lone win they had was that first game which ended after one half. Im not sure how many or how important they were but it had to hurt. From looking at boxscores at least two from that first game are missing.

Cross Country Rule Change (?!)
The AMA and a lot of coaches believe that its not in a younger athletes best interest to compete and train at the high school level. Cross Country has one of the highest injury rate among HS sports. I personally dont think its wise to have kids that young being with HS age kids as well.I think the rule is long overdue. it does allow for younger kids to continue competing for their HS team if they ran on the Regional Track or Cross Country team last season. ( grandfather clause)

Anyone going to the State Meet this weekend? (Track)
 X could have put it away with the 3200 run. Scott McClain finished 3rd but Long the #1 seed in the event failed to score.Im curious as to what happened to him since he was out of it from the begginng

Who are the favorites in 3A?
Dunbar didnt look like a favorite last year either. but they came prepared to race and put on a show. i wouldnt move them or Assumption to a lower tier yet . Especially with Dunbar being at home. After its all said and done though im picking Owensboro to take the crown. If you come to the AAA meet check out Chelsea Brown from Butler who will put her team in contention with a possible 40 points at the meet. She is top ranked in 4 events 100,200,400, and 300 H. On the boys side the quality of Trinity's sprinters looks like the edge theyll need to repeat. Orndorf isnt 100% ,but no one still seems able to beat him. I think both AAA races will be very close. I do however hope to see the boys Class A division which is supposed to be a battle between Ft Campbell and Bardstown !!:fight:

State High School Track Meet
Id also bet that the Trinity Jumper does some work on their new turf football field. They have it so it makes sense to use it. Trinity doesnt have a Track facility so he has to do his HJ work somewhere

How has Javelin gone this year?
No Javelins at the high school level. They did however score it in the Middle school state meet yesterday.
-
Steeplechase
They do contest that event in Jr. Olympics, AAU and USATF. not many state have it on their High school schedule though. Check the ktccca web page for the dates of the JO State meets in June.
-
Steeplechase
I had some kids do it in those same meets. It isnt in a lot of states and its only done as an exhibition event in those meets. Not enough facilities to have it in most places.

Words can't express the dissappointment
Im feelin you on this one.! Dunbar is a great high school facility but I think someone should have looked at one of the other College tracks, WKU or UL. i dont think the argument about throwing facilities is a good one. Im sure everyone is going to make the best of the decision(including trying to defeat the defending State Champs on their own track) But im not looking forward to jumping (TJ, LJ or HJ) at this venue. I think they could have done better with a little thought.

Mason Dixon Games
Thought id check to see what happened in the Single HS meet .Here is what I found. Coaches were asked to submit times from Outdoor meets corresponding to the event. ie 100M times for 55M dash. if coaches entered 55 or 60 M times they were asked to change to an outdoor time or receive a NT on their entry. here is the performance list from Class A. 55M dash. All the indoor times had to be changed or given no time. the reason being that not everyone has an indoor time and most coaches dont understand times for indoor ie the 5.00 time on the list. Indoor sprint races are also varied (50M,55M,60M) Its unfortunate but coaches very seldom make that mistake twice. Mason Dixon Games
we are working on a new format for next year, but I dont think limiting the athletes will be part of it. The Masters meet drew more than expected and The middle school meet hit record numbers. We are definitly experiencing growing pains, but as a coach in the State thats a good thing. The open and master athletes did express that running earlier in the day is an option for them. we have a lot to consider and I welcome any ideas to make the event better. Being a Track Fanatic though we will probably give everyone who wants the chance to run on the boards that opportunity. As for the HS meet if an athlete ran in the last heat he either had a bad seed time or none at all. My guess is they didnt send in a time.

Injured Waggener player in the Ballard game?
It was a compound fracture ,but I havnt heard anything about how he's doing now. After seeing the reactions of the people who attended to him on the floor i didnt even want to look at the video of what happened. (I filmed it) Hopefuly he'll recover and be able to continue in athletics or whatever he chooses to do in the future.

J-Town 91 Eastern 87 5OT
I heard there would be a blind draw and there is a possibility Eastern and JTown could draw each other in the first round of the districts..............which means there is a possibility someone could be going home for good after the Districts. Anyone else know how this works?
