A Bardo at NCC? Who is his papa?

#22 from Male is a class act! After the game as both teams were headed to the locker rooms, #22 from Male came all the way across the field to shake hands and hug Josh Conner. I was standing in the endzone by JC's dad and he was just as impressed with the sportsmanship! Good luck to the young man from Male and to the entire Male squad towards a great 2009!

Drove by this morning on the way to work... it looks fantastic from I-471 North! Congrats Tigers!

Can't blame it all on the coaching... 17 members of the East squad were caught between floors in an elevator for more than 20 minutes on departure to Papa Johns. Several players were able to pry the elevator door open between floors to summom help. A player on the 4th floor came over to the stuck elevator and yelled into the elevator, "The East is going to kick your EDITED." One of the guys in the stuck elevator recognized the guy on the outside and said, "Hey your on our team - We are the East!" He then went to get some help... Although the game was ugly for the East, many on the East and West squads made friendships that will last for a very long time. Friendships that will carry well into their collgiate carrers. :thumb: In regards to the slight turnout... very disappointing. IMO, they should move the game to the very next Saturday following the state finals. Interest is high, the athletes are in football shape and the play on the field would be better...

75center: Who was the coach when your son played? (No names please.) I may have been the pres of the league at that time and certainly I would have addressed your son not starting... Neil is doing a great job with the league by continuing the principle of providing instructional football for our youth. Neil is taking what was given to him and taking it to a plateu yet achieved.

Bingo! Tony is going to have to play near flawless ball in the 7 on 7's and into the start of this season's campaign. I wish the best of luck to both qb's! Afterall, 15 games in a season is long - especially if you take into account the nicks and bumps one gets along the way at the qb position. I guess I am saying it will take Will and Tony to get to the Pizza box.

Dang! Where does Beechwood get all the size on the line? Seriously, for a Class A school, pound for pound, they have to have the biggest lineman year in and year out!

Actually, I'm just a football fan that likes good football. I have always respected the Cov Cath program because of their tradition of sound football and great athletes. They have an impressive program year in and year out. Not always agreed with their coaches. That does not make me a hater of Cov Cath. There is a difference. My point is the lack of effort put forth by the East staff in preparation for the game as well as offensive play calling during the course of the game. No doubt the best team won. My gripe is pick a staff that wants to have fun during the game and in the preparation before the game. Just one man's opinion...

Henry521: It could have been a little closer if the talent up and down the east's sideline got the opportunity to showcase their talent... It was a shame that the very respectable turn-out did not get the chance to see a true All-Star contest. The East boys were let down by a staff that gave little effort! Hopefully the coaching association will put deep thought towards the selection of coaches for the 2009 contest. Perhaps, they should just ask if the staff is up to the challenge... Somehow, I got the feeling that Brossart was trying to impress his college alma mater coaching staff in the stands, Georgetown, with the Georgetown recruits on the east squad. As a result, the contest became a battle between Georgetown bound Ryan Ball at rb on the East and Georgetown bound Adam Schmitz, rb on the West. (BTW, both studs had a fantastic game and it was fun to see smash mouth football in June!)

Excellent question... I really do not know. I have had two sons play in prior N. Ky. All-star games. I am not sure about the duration of the practice - but I know they had more than three and the practices were extremely organized.

Very disappointing effort by the Cov Cath coaches in this one... three practices about 1.5 hours per practice and should anyone be suprised by the outcome? Is this indicative on how they prepare the Blue Colonels for football games? I realize this sounds like a cheap shot, but many in the stands were saying the same thing... Part of the honor of playing in such games is meeting athletes who you lined up against all season and developing long lasting friendships. The qb for the East tosses three, perhaps four interceptions and he plays the entire game at qb.... What's up with that? Seemed to me that the West showcased multiple qbs, wide receivers and lineman for the O and showcased multiple talents on D. Perhaps a little more preparation for the game and a little bit of creativity on the running and passing game would have yielded a W for the East. Hats off to all the players who were honored by playing in the contest last evening. The seniors provided a very exciting year in Northern Kentucky football this year. Also, Dixie did a very nice job in hosting the event. I hope Detmer from Dixie will be OK from his shoulder injury. I understand he has hopes of playing for Thomas More College... Good luck son!

IMO, the key was the blocking by all 11 members of the offensive unit.

Dale only elected for the PAT about 50% of the time last year... heck, he may not even go for the PAT this year! Regarding field goals, don't think it will be a necessity. The birds will be scoring often... :thumb:

I hope you are correct. I will go back for a visit mid-May and will report back. I didn't see any grass, sprigs, or dormant grass seedlings. Just dirt, some black rubber at mid-field and a few clumps of weeds. I am more concerned about the trenches left by the bands and how the deeply worn paths can be safely covered by the burmuda... IMO... the Camels and all athletic teams who use the field for competitive play deserve better!

I attended a track meet at Campbell County last Saturday... the field appeared to be in very bad condition. Many remarked on the condition of the field. If it were not for the weeds - there would not be a green blade on the gridiron. The yard lines had deep ruts from the band practicing on the field. I saw patches of black rubber near mid-field. Any plans on the board for improvements? Brossart playing in Newport for their 2008 campaign?

I've been hearing some positives from several folks about JH's program and their run for the title in '08. Time will tell... should be anohter exciting season in 5 A football!

I heard last evening that the date of the N Ky All-Star may be moved to another date and time. This is due to the Kentucky State Track meet being held the same day... That is what I heard... hopefully this will be confirmed or denied in the near future!

My understanding is ... Cov Cath and Highlands were on opposite teams for many years. However, a bruhaha erupted during the senior games and the powers to be decided to put the two schools together. Something like, "If You Can't Beat 'em, Join 'em.

Prediction on HHS squad: Birds will play @ PJS against John Hardin!

I believe its on... someone close to me is on the team. The game is scheduled the week before the Kentucky East West game. I do not know of any rosters at this time.

10-4 that DMZ76! Your highschool coach, the team's reputation for winning football and ah yes, grades, will promote your son to a colligiate team faster than any Nike camp. The exception to that is the aforementioned blazed 40 and SIZE!
