Thaaaaaaaats it! Perrrrfect!

I caught the Army All-Star game on ESPN this past Saturday. The top kicker in the country missed a 42 yarder and a P.A.T. ! The two kickers for both squads never placed the ball into the end zone kicking from the 35 yard line. I expected much better than what I witnessed on TV. Good luck Trey, hope to see you on ESPN in a few years!

Might have something to do with someone saying Tony was going to Elder next year... that was being said throughout the entire season including it being repeated by a relative at the Bowling Green game. I do recall Tony playing in the 2nd Qtr. , or at the very least, the entire second half of the four games leading to the state playoff game. In fact, I can only remember two games that Tony did not get the opportunity to enter, Central and Bowling Green. Unless I missed something... I don't think Tony ever stopped seeing game action. Besides, considering the quality of play Jake Turner displayed in the JV games, many were expecting Jake to get the snaps in the varsity games.

just 4 fun, The competition for the qb position is unlike the competition for any other starting position on football teams. Highlands is not any different. I would venture to say the three studs fighting for the starting position are in speed camps, working with personal qb coaches and going above and beyond the weight and conditioning that the rest of the team is going through right now... so when I mentioned stronger, swifter, faster, (the Olympic motto) I believe that will be the result the first day of Spring ball. The level and type of competition for the qb position at HHS cannot be patented... you have to earrrrrrrn it!

I will have to agree with you on that statement. William and Jacob will both have a legit shot at the qb position. My uneducated guess will be that Tony will start Spring ball as the leading qb and it will be up to Tony to keep the starting position. The competition amongst the three gifted athletes will only make each other stronger, faster, swifter! As mentioned by serveral posters, it should be exciting Spring football in Ft Thomas. ... good luck to the entire Highlands squad. It doesn't matter how many trophies are in the case... It doesn't matter if the whole state is watching. The talent is in the stable. It will take total committment and teamwork to repeat!

It will be moot as we will know the recipient of Mr and Ms. Kentucky Basketball before Mr Football is introduced...

Perhaps I chose a bad example! :thumb: Let's wait and see who gets the nod. My point will be moot if the award goes to an athlete from a high profile school.

I know #41, the little fella from Highlands, will simply be honored to be in company with some of the finer footballers in the state of Kentucky! Being honored by the most knowledgeable football fans in Kentucky is quite an accomplishment to #41 and to all who received this worthy recognition. Sincere congrats to all footballers for providing exciting Kentucky football during the '07 campaign!

I agree... however I am sure there are slots needed to be added. (Head coach and his assistants.) Also, interviews can be timely. Hopefully, someone at Scott is there to start the conditioning and weight lifting program through the start of Spring football. If the athletes are just sitting around getting fat... it will certainly be a long road to hoe in their efforts to turn the program in '08.

So, if Will Stein gets the MR Kentucky Football nod.. that honor will not help him get his name out to D-1 schools that currently do know Will from Adam or Eve? I agree with you if Corey Robinson or Corey Farris gets the coveted recognition as their name has been out there... but if a less recongized athlete earns the award, I still think that will be nothing but a positive in getting more attention from a D-1 school. If that isn't the case... please explain.

I agree with everything that has been mentioned regarding Coach Schneider's decision to stay at NCC. He has been a great role model for his kids for many many years. We do need more talented coaches like Bob to in the coaching professon! The only thing broke in this scenario is that he will not play the BIRDS! Many of us were hoping that would possibly change if there was a new coach on top of the hill. Good luck coach and congratulations to all the underclassman on the Bred squad!

I think that if you are selected as THE best footballer in the state of Kentucky, Ohio or Alaska for that matter... your stock just went up tenfold in the D-1 recruiting process. I would think it to be a positive for the college to boast they just recruited MR Kentucky Football. It certainly could do no harm to the awardee towards his recruiting process. IMO.. the excitement is waning each day and week post the championship games. It's anti-climatic at this point to what has been a very exciting season in Kentucky. Why not make the AP MR FOOTBALL and AP All- State announcement right after the 6A championship game?

I think the Frosh to Sophomore turnout will be the most interesting... I am confident the varisty 60 minutes will have both quantity and quality!

Regardless of the rhetoric that will follow the MR Football announcement... IMO, such a late announcement will only provide miminal bounce for that particular athlete in the D-1 recruiting process. Some will say that the award does not have any bearing on one's college prospects... but I will differ on that one. Being able to add MR KENTUCKY FOOTBALL to one's resume is HUGE! Hopefully, next year the AP will get the awards out to the athletes sooner. It is such a prestigous honor. It does mean a lot to the winner ~ above and beyond the recognition he receives from the media. Just an opinion...

Who? Petrovic of Highlands... never heard of him. Highlands had Bathiany from Bulgaria.

And the excitement starts in about two months! Should be an exciting contest for the starting qb position. Will Dale make adjustments to the line to help protect the qb? Or, are the horses in place from last year's squad? Should be fun to watch the action in March... I would take this over March Madness any day!

Obviously it's not in the water... the O and D line in Ohio are a tad taller and much slower!

I will try this again... for all who have seen Corey Robinson play, is he as good as Tim Couch was during his HS carreer? I saw Tim Couch play several times his senior year... he was the real deal and there were no questions regarding his MR Football status. Is Corey in the same company? Where is he planning to play at the next level?

I was more impressed with the hard hitting of #9 on the Purples squad in the state finals. Also, #34 was more prevalent in the game than #24. But as previously mentioned... I only saw one Purple game this year! Congrats to Jared Carpenter all the same. Your work will be cut out for you at MSU. Good luck and best wishes for a great academic opportunity.

Although I am a Stein supporter, I think his 3rd Team All-State selection may harm his chances of Mr. Football. I thoroughly enjoyed his play at the Class AAAAAA championships.. I wish I made the opportunity to see Corey Robinson play... I do not know, is he another Tim Couch? If so, he has my vote. (Actually, I do not vote.) I am not totally sold on the idea that stats gets you the Mr Football recognition. If he played AAAAAA ball in Louisville and had the same stats, I would be of a different opinion. Corey Farris of Boone would be my choice if I only had the three to chose from. Corey is a solid young man that is talented in Football, Baseball and probalby yachting if he had a boat! If Deuce Finch had an injury free year... I think he would be the top dog in the state. Unfortunately, that did not happen for the gifted running back.

CoachBuckett stole my thunder... if your son is the fastest in the county, take take him to a combine. If not, you will do far more harm by taking him and getting poor times posted on the internet! I have three boys that have played highschool football - all on state championship teams. My advise, let the play on the field do the talking vs. an unknown holding a stop watch and holding your son's future in his hands...:thumb: Save the money and prevent getting false expectations developed!

LN, my fellow friend, you did not mention the energy mustered in one outstanding footballer, Austin! Austin came on strong in Spring ball and never looked back. He will be a force on offense and defense the next three years. Also, Katie Collinsworth was named to The Enquirer's Soccer All-Star Team as a first team soccer player! In fact, there are two more Collinsworth siblings waiting in the wings who will be a force on the Highlands sports beat in years to come.
