I'm sure Monroe will get the inspirational speech today with the catchphrase "I'd rather eat S*** with a rusty spoon than lose to Glasgow." Rivalry goes all the way back to 1938 before the Monroe county schools were consolidated. I think they've only not played each other 3 times in that span and we don't need to count the COVID year.

I think some may argue that. I think it is mostly that there aren't that many Blue Blood programs in 3A right now. Belfry left and went down to 2A, Franklin Simpson went back up to 4A. Paducah Tilghman went up to 4A a few years ago, as did Boyle before that. The traditional leaders in the Class that are left are CAL, Central, Lexington Catholic and Bell. There are several routine regional contenders like Bardstown, Rockcastle, Glasgow, Murray, and Lawrence County, they just don't have the perennial deep playoff success that some of the other classes have. I think it is more along the lines of the most unproven class vs the worst class.

Best team on Glasgow's Schedule besides maybe Franklin Simpson at the end of the year. Arguably the best team on Monroe's schedule could be Glasgow or Campbellsville. Last year 15-14.

Reminds me of a couple years ago when PT and belfry both went 4-6 in the regular reason and both ended up in the state finals in 2021. I believe Belfry started 0-5 or 1-4 or something like that.

Barren is getting a couple suspended players back and have two transfers from Glasgow in Daylan Thomas and Katavium Fryar (Went to Glasgow as a Freshman, Caverna as a Sophomore, and Barren as a Junior). I wonder how this matchup goes. Glasgow has speed. Barren has size, interesting matchup. I think Glasgow takes it 42-20.

Culture in Glasgow has already become apparent with how they kept their foot on the petal against Logan. I see this being close early and the Scotties running it up late 42-14.

I think Glasgow's speed vs Logan was too much offensively and defensively. I think Logan may be able to run their screen game vs Hart with more success.

How did the Barren/Logan Scrimmage go a week earlier? Is that any comparison to what may come week 2? Or are scrimmages that varied on talent and progression?

Many coaches opt for two type of week 11 games. Games where you can play a top tier opponent and keep an edge, or an opponent that is still quality, but is coached well enough that they will not start fights or intentionally sabotage your postseason. Coach Adler and Coach Smith always take care of each other in this regard. Memory serves that Taylor County played a fledgling Marion County team and several of their key players got into a fight and had to sit out of their playoff game. This is an administrative way to avoid that scenario.

Donations, Grants are a big thing that helps pay for them, multi sport use, and some school boards aren't afraid to go into the red to help pay for things. a SOKY school put classrooms in their football stadium and added it to their vocational campus and got it paid for by reaching into multiple pockets. Nickel and Dime property taxes also help fund some of these things. The Warren County schools spread their money to all schools, South Warren was the last to get turf and the first to get their indoor. Greenwood is currently having one built I believe. Not sure of the plans for Warren East and Warren Central, but they all have had their facilities updated recently.

I agree Calico, There is routinely about 40-45 job openings per year. I know this is a Basketball school in a tough football district but it seemed like the Admin was ready to support football the best they could when they released their statement last time they were hiring, This was quoted in the last forum: Mason County High School in Maysville, KY is searching for a new head football coach. Our former head coach, Joe Wynn, recently accepted the head coaching position at Simon Kenton High School. For the 2025-26 seasons, we will be classified as a 4A football school, assigned to District 5, and aligned with Covington Catholic, Harrison County & Highlands. Historically we have been classified as a 3A school, which has been reassigned to 4A a few times during realignment. We anticipate dropping to 3A at the conclusion of the 2026 season. With our anticipated drop, our football numbers continue to rise with 10% of our boy population K-12 playing football. Our principal is a former college football player and All-American at Georgetown College. Our assistant principal is a longtime assistant football coach of eighteen years. You will be supported and winning is important to us. How our young men perform inside the walls of our high school and in our community is more important. We are looking for our next head coach to continue developing strong relationships with our community and our young men, building upon what Coach Wynn has in place. A flexible teaching schedule will be considered. From a facilities perspective, you would have access to a stand-alone grass practice field, equipped with lights and a scoreboard. We also have a turf game field and we have upgraded our lighting and audio system this past year. Our new middle school has its football practice field separate from the high school and the game field. Our youth league and middle school utilize both the grass practice field and the game field for practices and games. We have two separate locker rooms, one for our varsity and one for freshmen. Our football facility has recently received a facelift. We have a new HVAC system, new weight room equipment, and plans to upgrade and make additions in the future. We have a track below the football facility and a huge hill behind the game field for hill sprints, plyometrics, etc. Our new hire will have full authority on all staffing hires and fires from grades 4-12. We currently offer four periods of in-school weight lifting classes and we currently have the full HUDL package and football fundraising is established and well built. Realistically, with the West side of the State and a preseason poll I saw the other day having the Scotties 6th in 3A. CAL and Murray being ranked ahead of them. Union and Hart have dropped in the polls, like a lot of us seem to think, Unsure of what to think when the playoffs shape up and RPI deals its hand. I could see a chance at a Region Title, and past that, anything can happen. I personally think their line will improve from last year with 3 returners getting another year of development and some of the younger guys getting stronger, I am not sure they'll be dominate though.

Am I right that they haven't won the district since '21 (12-2)? in '22 they were 6-6 (3rd/4th seed?), '23 they were 9-3 (two losses to HC and FS, 3rd seed) and last year 5-6. Its been a tough 3A district, even back to the Taylor County years, but I think they right the ship and win the district, more curious about how far they go.

Lots of good buzz from people I hear. Arnett seems to really be changing the culture and has them coming in early before school and working and word on the street is they are buying in and being held accountable. Big steps in the development of the program. Kids want to win, we'll see if the varsity line can develop. Big senior class and a big sophomore class, It'll be interesting how complete the football team can be. Athletes everywhere and second year starter at QB, Jerrick Martin is getting looks at some colleges and Xander Contreras as well with that Memphis offer. All Questions will be in the trenches and I am excited to see how the scotties answer the call.

Both Solid Coaches. Breeze really worked well with football at Adair, even though Adair was typically not very good at football. His basketball players worked out during weightlifting except on gamedays I believe. That was the case a few years ago when I was more familiar anyways. Also knew a couple other names thrown around earlier, all would be great hires IMO. Hagen Tyler and Keith Adkins are both great, Keith Coached Hagen at Campbellsville also. Not sure of their relationship, Could both of them head to Boyle and coach together?

Seems like a quality hire that would seemingly bring stability to a Lex Cath program that has had a lot of coaching turnover during the several years. Coached against him before and he definitely brings the best out of them when they had a tremendous talent

Last I heard the turf itself is about $750k and is lasting about 15 years at a time. Its honestly almost cheaper by the end of 15 years if a field is properly maintained with sand, sod, fertilizer, mowing, servicing reel mowers, painting, irrigation maintenance, especially if that is all contracted out and not done mostly by a coach, groundskeeper, AD, etc. Did a research paper about 10 years ago when turf costed about 1 million and it could pay for itself after about 7 years. I'd imagine even sooner now. Only caveat, Turf hurts my old back to stand on compared to grass. I am not sure of the reason but it does. There was talk that turf was more dangerous to play on a couple years ago, but I haven't heard any comments on that recently so I am assuming it was inconclusive or disproven. Also very hot in the summer. Little Metcalfe County also has turf this offseason after moving away from sharing the city park's football field. They also Misspelled their name on the sign "Metacalfe County"

Saw some tape on Murray last year vs Union County There were several STUDS. IS this a Preseason number 2 in the state after CAL? or any other arguments from any other 3A team? Central?, Bell?, Rock?, Bardstown? Lex cath if they can find a coach? Mercer? How are these teams stacking up? 3A seems wide open to me more so than any other class?

I agree with you TKinslow, The Monroe/Glasgow game was at home and coach Petitt really did a good job of grinding the game down with a plethora of first downs and chewing the clock, plus I think the Glasgow game means a lot to MonRoe. The Somerset game vs Glasgow was plagued by Somerset turnovers including a pick 6 in the first quarter and a bad snap on a punt later in the game. I just had to assume Somerset would be the favorite after going deep into the 2A playoffs the last couple years with Coach Clevenger.
