Glasgow would hate to lose him. He's done a fine job and we hope he sticks around for a few years at least. Pedigree is very good for him, winning regions as a player, coaching up at LCA and Southwestern. Multiple levels and a lot of knowledge gained from each stop. Wonderkind so to speak and will be a big name soon if not already. Admins should start adding him to coaching search committees. I think Glasgow has been blessed with multiple head coach quality coaches on their staff if they ever leave a good thing that is going. Many other coaches have been mentioned on their staff this year.

I feel like most coaches would never want to spend the night unless it was for the state championship. It also depends on money situations and availability for the coach busses. Many schools have no choice but to take a school bus and probably leave early from school or maybe skip that day of school if it is an essessive. In hs I just don't see traveling the night before in KY. If it is 6-7 hours for a trip I could see driving, stopping halfway to eat and potentially even doing a walk thru practice before finishing the trek.

Looking at their roster it has 74 kids and only 11 seniors unless I can't count. It is mostly a younger team it appears. I am more curious about why we all think this is such a long road for a turnaround. I think the right guy can come in there and change the culture the first year, good weight room year and really get things rolling after the 2nd year. It might be ugly the first year, but participation doesn't seem to be the issue. Is it culture or just lack of talent being dispersed to other area schools?

You would have to think if they are throwing the ball, the Glasgow defense would have the advantage. They have serval interceptions by multiple players.

Matchup: Glasgow (11-0) #5 vs Union County (6-5) Storyline: Glasgow’s only remaining loss from last year (they had 6) was to Union County — the Scotties have since redeemed all other losses (to Barren County 22-8; Allen 41-6; Adair County 49-0; Hart County 35-6; Franklin Simpson 27-24 in 2OT). Will the redemption tour continue over the Braves, or will the Cinderella story come to an end? Glasgow: another dominating win over a fledgling Webster county saw two great punt returns for TD from junior Jaylen Bradley and kickoff return TD from So. Keyshawn Austin. This team seems motivated and chomping at the bit to prove themselves in the deeper playoff rounds. They do not need to overlook Coach Johns and the Union County Braves. Union County: They saw a terrific 2024 campaign end in the state championship against CAL last year and finished 12-3. Many of those seniors have moved on, but a solid core remains. They have a very good running back talent in Willem McPeake who has amassed 1300 yards. They have had the Scottie’s number in the only two meetings between these schools; winning last years matchup 45-16 and the 2022 matchup 50-20. The play style of Union is very physical, the most physical team that the Scottie’s have faced has been the Franklin-Simpson Wildcats and were forced to take them to double overtime to finally manage to come home with the W. I think Union may be just as good if not better. I think for the Scottie’s to come out with a win they have to play clean crisp football and execute like I have seen them this season in the Hart, Barren, LaRue, and Monroe games. I am certain Union is a good enough team to beat Glasgow if Glasgow doesn’t bring their at least A- game. Do either of these teams have a chance after this round? If Union won they would undoubtedly play CAL next week and Glasgow will most likely go against Murray #4 BGP.

Coach Randal Parmley does the special teams for Glasgow. Super organized, schematically sound, and really gets these guys fired up for a 3rd dimension of the game. They scored 3 special teams touchdowns tonight.. Glasgow running clocked them with their special teams and defense and could have honestly left their offense at home. Webster county kids were super respectful, saw them eating at Freddy’s burgers after the game and were sweeping and mopping the floors. Good kids have to give them props.

I think the Scotties will pull starters early if there is a running clock. With weather coming in and a probable physical matchup next week in Union County. They will need to stay healthy to make any kind of run.

This is very well thought out and I think very practical. I think there will be some Male/Highlands/Mayfield fans who love their national win totals who have enjoyed that round and hate to lose a game. I like taking the top 16 left, I am not sure about the East/West moving over I would just take the top 8 at still at large in the east and west and go from there. Very Impressive.

Can someone elaborate on what exactly happened? If a new coach comes in I am sure he would want to know the Admin would support him and he wouldn't be faced with the same situation later on down the line. What exactly do you think their non negotiables be in a coach? Saw they have had several 7-5 and 8-5 seasons and then ran into the Boyle Counties and Highlands of the world. Is that the expectations? Is it loftier than that? I do not know the temperature of the area in what is expected from Scott.

Glasgow (10-0) #5 BGP take on Webster County (2-8) in this first round matchup. Glasgow has a lot of speed, but Webster has some good size on their line and a few good skill position kids. This Matchup takes place on Scottie Field 7:00 Friday.

I've always heard Harrison County coach was doing a good job with what they had up there. I haven't seen any product, but is the talent pool maybe low there right now? He's a hometown guy and was coached by hall of famer Ray Graham, also played a Georgetown. still young, I figure he'll get things going for them up there. Tough district to play in.

Any chance Glasgow can give Murray a run for their money? Likely 3rd round matchup. Glasgow didn’t bring their A Game versus Franklin, but I haven't seen Murray play this year?

Can we just have a sense that if a team decided to not play in a playoff game that it is for their program’s well being and give the understanding that the coach and administrators have the programs best interest at heart no matter what they decided. Many coaches have team councils that decide things like this and have player input. Can we just not blindly judge and think we know more than the people who are inside their programs every day. Maybe they aren’t competitive enough to even consider going and aren’t afraid to call it like it is. Participation is down again and when you have 15 kids, not taking a chance of one quitting after getting their brains beat in after a long bus ride might be the best option for the program. I just can’t judge someone. I’ve been on teams that were 1-9 and couldn’t wait to go deer hunting after losing our playoff game and teams that were double digit wins and wanted to practice even after they were beat. Every situation is so different.

This seems like a decent job. Anyone know what admin support, pay, expectations are for this job. What is the state of the feeders and transfers. Do they lose kids when stuff like this happens?

FS is always tough and physical. Scottie’s knew they would hold the ball and get first down after first down. They dropped a pass that would’ve been a walk in TD and got beat on a flea flicker. Very bad start for the Glasgow team, maybe due to the bad schedule they have encountered the last few weeks. QB Hudson Gumm started slow it seemed, but ended up 14/17 for 246 and 4 TD. Jaylan Bradley showing off with 3 TD and another called back on the KOR. Pretty impressive stat line by both of those guys. Well fought by both teams and I think both teams should feel confident going into the playoffs. I would not be surprised if FS gave John Hardin and their former coach a run for their money.

I think this is a great topic! What would some examples be on what makes assistant coaches stand out? Are these the type of people who make the HC life easier by taking responsibilities off his plate: ie fundraising, laundry, field maintenance, JV/Frosh Scheduling, Tutoring, Equipment, weightlifting, do we mean like Xs and Os and really creating a depth of knowledge heard from more than just the head coach, or do we mean a leader of young men who really exemplifies what coaching should really be about? I feel like there are about three types of coaches HCs/HC level coaches X/O schemers Character Coaches. all are valuable and I think your staff needs to be a mix of them all.

In '21 Belfry and Paducah Tilghman both entered the playoffs 4-6 and ended up in the state championship, knocking off CAL for PT and Belfry starting like 0-5.

If the Scotties give up less than 28 points, it will be the best defensive PPG regular season since 1974 when they pitched 8 shutouts, gave up 19 points to Bowling Green and 7 points to Etown for a total of 26 points on the season. In 2011, the last year the Scotties made it to the state championship, they gave up a total of 69 points. So far this year, 41.

Getting closer to taking the top 16/24/32 per class in whatever metric you want to use. RPI/HRS Ratings/TP94/etc and the rest of the teams can schedule "Bowl" games with whoever they want left.
