Only other thing to consider is that many of these changes happen as a current head coach moves to another school and their vacancy has to be filled. That does skew the connotation of extreme turnover some. There may have been only 20 true job openings from firing, resignations, retirements, etc. If they hire a current head coach it then automatically doubles to 40. Longevity at one program is still a major concern with this though. Coaches' breath must get stale quicker in these places more now than before.

I'd be interested to see the average tenure at each school for each head coach. That might be a lot of work to figure out though.

GREAT GUY. He is a great coach and a good person. Very supportive of his coaches , parents, and students. Wins and losses aren’t always the best way to classify a coach. I see him as someone who has routinely overachieved everywhere he has been. Especially at Cumberland county.

“Hey Coach, we have about 40 of our 60 kids who should be playing JV/Freshman ball, we want all of them to get reps, not just the best 22, how do you feel about about playing the first half with the best 20 and the second half with the bottom 20?” “We could come back and play you guys freshman level on Thursday, but why don’t we just make one trip on Monday instead, we’ll shorten the quarters also so we aren’t out all night” The extreme situation that I think you are implying creates 3 games a week: One thing coach, our junior QB rolled his ankle walking his dog Sunday, if we play our freshman QB in both games, only on offense, getting about 40 snaps, would he be eligible if our starting QB goes down for any reason Friday? Oh, and he’s our holder on special teams, if he’s not eligible on Friday, our other 19 kids may not get work in cause they don’t have a QB” yes, by KY bylaw he is eligible if your varsity starter gets hurt and your backup isn’t good to go back in. this is basically what this league is saying. It’s not proposing “3 games a week” it’s just making it possible for the programs who are in between having 3 levels get extra work in for everyone. I didn’t realize it was causing such a fuss, it’s a pretty good solution to having 3 separate nights where freshman are out late. coaches get well-being of the players and let’s be clear- most of the time “quarters” are playing offense during JV and kickoff return on Friday, that literally counts as 8 quarters. One snap per quarter counts. many times, a varsity backup who goes in on third down as a corner may play offense during JV so round out their game. This is the what the 8 quarter rule is for. it’s been like this for as long as I’ve been around the game.

This structure would be the equivalent of playing JV the first half and Freshman the second half of a game. They are just calling it a double header and shortening the quarters. KHSAA Limits participation to "8 Quarters" per week. I think this is a misunderstanding of the structure provided. I would actually argue it is safer than trying to mix in weak freshman vs developed juniors. This also allows staying out one school night rather than two. Zero difference between a single JV game and a single Varsity game per week. They're are just designating that ability levels play against each other.

There are 13 other 3A schools closer to Glasgow than McCreary Central, who moves from district 8, to district 2.

Rooting for Coach Isaac and the Thorobreds!

Glasgow didn't have spring football for many years due to not wanting to pull kids away from in-season sports. The Quarterback for many years played baseball and they felt like there wasn't a huge point in having spring ball without a quarterback. In perspective, they were having regional success. Coach Arnett is having spring football before school and so they kids don't have to miss any practices with any other sport, which I think is a cool idea and all the kids have seemed to adjust. Football coaches there also help with track and baseball so it blends the sports well together.

Is there still a 90 day rule for people who retire from Teaching? Maybe that is the slow process here. Coach may not be allowed on the school campus for 90 days depending on when he did his retirement paperwork.

I have seen several places have the basketball coach sit in. Thoughts on this?

In my experience as of late, The schools post it to their websites and wait for applicants and perhaps see it as if they have to beg for applicants, they probably shouldn't be applying for that position anyway.

I was told by someone, I forget who, that Coach Greg Howard (District AD) requested that the Warren County schools were doing the hiring process Consecutively rather than Concurrently. I am assuming that is what is going on here.

Their roster this past year showed 21 players, but 10 seniors. 3rd smallest 1A school in the new alignment… makes it tough.

I heard they may have hired that assistant, but fielding a team may still be up in the air. Not sure about all of this.

Interesting play at the end of the game to put the ball in a sophomore's hand for a game winning three rather than your top 3-4 playmakers. Also Ironic that there has been talk of this player moving to Monroe County.

I wasn't super surprised that Barren County won last night, but I was shocked by the scoring margin.

I think they talked about this on TCOP this past episode. The board of control did a Private school multiplier, not an out of district school multiplier and the perspective cited was that it would be take an enormous amount of labor to track out of district students from all the member schools with enrollments changing every day. And potentially easier to mess with the numbers. If I am wrong please correct me.

Speaking with the three mentioned several times over the last few days, Parmley was offered the job as a paraprofessional and said he’d need a teaching job and they haven’t gotten back to him. The others to my knowledge haven’t heard anything at all. Perhaps hosting the district tournament has delayed things for them. I do know Coach Harness is continuing to work weightlifting for those guys. Which is admirable.

Great game, great crowd. Crazy that the referees kicked out the clock operator during the 3rd quarter for profanity.

I had heard one of the assistant coaches applied and the admin said don't bother. I think they may be contemplating doing away with the program. I am unsure of this however. I would love to hear someone closer to the program confirm that.
