For the second year in a row, Barren County took down a heavily favored team in the first round.  Last year they knocked out Warren Central, who had been the region favorite.  This night they mirrored a lot of that upset in taking down Clinton County, who had been considered the region's #2 team and biggest threat (by far) to Warren Central.  It started with a solid run at the beginning, where they reeled off the first nine points of the game, grabbing a lead they'd never relinquish.  It was 13-5 after one, and initially in the second quarter, it looked like Clinton County had righted the ship, closing to 15-11.  But the Trojans responded, working inside to Gavin Nunn (who had a dominant night), followed by a Shelton DEEP three, then a Shelton bank shot for two, and then Nunn scored in transition to push a 9-0 run to make it 24-11, and the lead would go back under double digits only one time the rest of the night.  Barren settled in for a 29-15 lead at the half, which became 47-24 after three, and it just continued on.  Clinton County did have success at times with a fullcourt press, but just as often it was broken and the Trojans got very easy baskets. The Bulldogs were atrocious shooting, and Barren played hard nosed basketball, worked on the boards, and worked inside over and over, riding it all the way to the region semifinals.  They'll now try to do a repeat trick, and try to beat Warren Central for a second year in a row to try to gain a 4th Region final berth.

I wasn't super surprised that Barren County won last night, but I was shocked by the scoring margin. 

It's still a one horse race.
