  1. Kris Hughes continues to dominate week after week. To be on a watchlist is more than impressive for a player that is not an actual QB. He stepped in to this position after the starting QB was injured in the 1st and only game they have lost this season. He’s broken two school all time records (in a 119 year program history) now leading in rushing and scoring. He’s also leading the entire state in both TD’s and Rushing Yds. Hughes plays both sides of the ball and is just as impressive on defense. Adding to his resume this past week, in the absence of their star kicker, Hughes stepped up to the plate without hesitation to fill those shoes as well showing off an impressive 55-60 yd punt. To this point there’s nothing he’s been faced with that he hasn’t dominated. Good in the classroom, outstanding humble young man and a textbook definition of Mr. Football. Hughes should definitely be watched more closely.
  2. Somerset will travel to Glasgow this Friday to finish off regular season play before heading into the playoffs. What can we expect to see and who do you predict to win?
  3. I have heard he isn't playing this week or next and planning to return for playoffs. But all hearsay - don't know for sure.
  4. Spot on. I expected Leslie to hang in there with Breathitt - that game really took me by surprise. Leslie has a few weapons we can't overlook, but the Jumpers should run away with this one.
  5. Leslie County will travel to The Briar Patch this Friday for the final district game of the season. Leslie is coming off a hard loss to Breathitt last week and Somerset with a runaway game against Danville. This will also be senior night for the Briar Jumpers. What can we expect?
  6. Somerset, coming off their bye week, will travel to Centre College to continue their district play against the Danville Admirals. What's your thoughts on this game?
  7. About half of their roster is there tonight.
  8. I heard yesterday from a N. Laurel parent that they had 8 or 9 players walk out this week .. can anyone verify this?
  9. I think we know Boyle has this in the bag. However, I’m interested to see how Russell hangs in there though! Russell has surprised me all season. They aren’t the same Lakers we’ve known for the past several years and in my opinion if they can hang with Boyle and prevent a running clock, or even lose by 2 or 3 TD’s that’s a statement for Russell. Boyle Co. is no joke and I think most teams would consider that a plus when playing Boyle, lol.
  10. PC by A LOT! is something going on with NL? I was shocked to see the outcome of the NLvSL game! Hines must be shaking his team up pretty well.
  11. Sharing a highlight film of the Somerset Breathitt game that was posted on fb for anyone interested. Video credits IMAGIO DEI MEDIA. They did an awesome job on this. Enjoy! RPReplay_Final1728255413.mov
  12. If I had to pick a game for Danville to win this season, from their schedule, this would probably be the only one that they could maybe pull off. I do think that Leslie will end up winning this one in the end but I want to root for Danville simply because I want to see them start trending upward so badly.
  13. I like to see a little celebration - as long as it’s appropriate and not taunting to another player. If they wanna cut a rug after a 60 yd TD what’s it hurting anyone? Let the players celebrate with their teammates and carry on.
  14. I’ve noticed they’ve added the Somerset / Breathitt game now on KHSAA.
  15. Somerset has several players that are consistently in contact with college recruiters which I like to see. In the past it seems we may have one per season or maybe a couple - but I know that we have had a handful or more that are getting gameday invites and official visits. Additionally we have some very good talent that isn't old enough to be recruited just yet. I’m excited to see where the future takes these boys and I’ll also add that somerset’s middle school players are about to come in and make some noise. The future of the Briar Jumpers is bright and I’m here for it!
  16. I'm really liking what I'm seeing out of Somerset. Their offense is coming together nicely with the o-line improving weekly as I predicted would happen. The play calling against Lincoln Co reminded me more of what we saw in the Perry Co game with multiple playmakers giving a chance for Hughes to breathe. The passing game is good - the running game is good ... and that d-line is nasty! I don't think Breathitt can hang with them. I say Somerset takes this one by 2 or 3 scores.
  17. Somerset is rebuilding in some areas where they lost some key players last year to graduation. This was to be expected, and although the past couple of weeks they haven't had the outcome I know they could've, I can still see improvement week after week. As I recall last year the o-line started the season struggling a little bit and week after week they were stronger and played smarter. I expect the same out of this group -- not saying that all of their troubles are coming from the o-line, just saying that they are building brick by brick and come district time I think they will have all the wrinkles ironed out. Campbellsville will be a tough one for them, hopefully we will see them come out ready to play in the 1st qtr. and the penalties will be kept to a minimum. I think this will be a good test for both teams, but I'm sticking with the Jumpers.
  18. Outstanding game! Congrats Boyle Co!
  19. Somerset will travel to Knox Co this Friday. Thoughts on this game?
  20. This is going to be bad ... the only player that stood out to me last year from Danville is now at Mercer County. I'm predicting Pulaski's JV will take the filed at the half - I'm not sure Danville will even score.
  21. Week 2 Somerset will travel to Russell County. Somerset pulled off a 48-7 win over Perry Co. Central on their opening game at the Briar Patch while Russell County fell to Adair County 22-16.
  22. Thanks for sharing - can't be there but will listen in!
