District play begins for two teams this Friday night at Andy Frye Stadium on Centre College's campus as Leslie County (4-2) visits to face the Danville Admirals (0-6).

Leslie County was on a bye last week.  In their last game on September 28 they visited Paintsville and won 26-20.  Their two losses, to Prestonsburg and Clay County, happened by a combined four points.  Senior quarterback Landry Collett threw for 309 yards and 3 touchdowns in the Paintsville win.

The Admirals are still looking to put it all together this year.  The defense played hard against Campbellsville last Thursday but the offense was never able to get going, turning the ball over too much and making the defense play short field situations.  That contributed to a running clock by the second quarter and a 36-0 loss.  Offensive woes have plagued the Ads all season as they have not scored in four games.  Their 13 total points is the lowest in Class 2A.  The Ads get sophomore Trinden Sellers back for this game, which will add a much needed playmaker to special teams and the offense.

In last year's game the Ads came close to a win but ultimately fell 25-19.  Does the Ads 18-game losing streak end here?  Or does Leslie County add another win in their hunt for a district title?

Just don’t see the Ads generating enough offense to be able to win.

If I had to pick a game for Danville to win this season, from their schedule, this would probably be the only one that they could maybe pull off. I do think that Leslie will end up winning this one in the end but I want to root for Danville simply because I want to see them start trending upward so badly.

Got to score to win.  4 straight games with 0 points and only 2 touchdowns on the season is not going to get it done.

I watched part of one Danville game and I was impressed with the Ads effort.

1st & 10 - Dismeaux runs for a 1 yard gain.

2nd & 9 - Sweep to Jutayvion Beasley who runs for a 14 yard gain.  FIRST DOWN.

1st & 10 - Beasley (so.) rushes for a 5 yard gain.

2nd & 5 - Ball is snapped over QB Nathan Doyle's head.  Doyle (fr.) is able to get back and dive on the ball but it results in a massive 30-yard loss.

3rd & 30 - Ball is snapped over Doyle's head again.  Beasley picks it up in the end zone but is tackled.  SAFETY.

2nd & 4 - Sizemore rushes to the seven-yard line.  7 yard gain.  FIRST DOWN.

1st & goal - (7:00 to go in the quarter) Attempted run results in a 4-yard loss by Tanner Estep (sr.)

2nd & goal - Collett is flushed from the pocket and rushed out of bounds for no gain.

3rd & goal - Collett rolls left and throws to Hacker for a TOUCHDOWN.  Ball thrown just right over an Ads defender's head.

Leslie County pushes their lead to 16-0 with 6:08 to play in the first quarter.

Leslie County's kickoff goes out of bounds so the Admirals will start their second drive on their 40 yard line.

1st & 10 - Trinden Sellers (so.) takes a short screen pass from Doyle for 4 yards.

2nd & 6 - Dismeaux rushes for a yard.

3rd & 5 - Ads are flagged for a delay of game, nullifying the Ads gains from the last two plays.

3rd & 10 - Screen pass attempt bounces off the helmet of a Leslie County defender.  Refs huddle to discuss whether it was an incomplete pass or fumble.  Rule it a fumble but Beasley had recovered so Ads keep it.

4th & 10 - Kaleb Wilcher (sr.) punts and it rolls out of bounds near the 50 yard line.  Leslie came close to blocking it and may have gotten a hand on it.
