Somerset comfortably.

I'm really liking what I'm seeing out of Somerset. Their offense is coming together nicely with the o-line improving weekly as I predicted would happen. The play calling against Lincoln Co reminded me more of what we saw in the Perry Co game with multiple playmakers giving a chance for Hughes to breathe. The passing game is good - the running game is good ... and that d-line is nasty! I don't think Breathitt can hang with them. I say Somerset takes this one by 2 or 3 scores.

Somerset 35-14.

Probably a game to see who can avoid facing Beechwood in round 2.

This game intrigues me. Breathitt County is better than their record indicates. Somerset has lost to worse teams than Breathitt County. I think this could be a close game and a Breathitt County win would not shock me. It would be a mild upset in my mind.

The Rooster is dead on with what he said above. The Jumpers put together a 4 qtr effort last Friday vs. Lincoln. I enjoyed that game. The gameplan was spot on and executed well. Somerset won the LOS all night long on both sides. They will need to build on that effort and I believe they will. But this sets up for a pretty good district opener.  I will be out of town for this one and will be watching the live stream. Link is below.

This is the Lake Cumberland Sports Homepage with links to all of our broadcasts audio and video. We seem to be having a tech issue with the link to our YouTube page. I am sure we will have it worked out in plenty of time for Friday.

Also, the Riherds Page has mysteriously lost the information for the Somerset/Breathitt game. It is missing from the Master Schedule and each teams individual schedules.  Just an FYI

Jumpers Big!

Breathitt 28-13

Breathitt County wine the toss and defers. Somerset drives the ball 55 yards and scores on a 10 yard pass from Bruner to Hughes. All the yards were in the air. Breathitt County stacked the box and held the Jumpers to -5 yards on 5 carries.  7-0 Somerset.

After penalties and a bad snap short -circuited the last 2 Somerset drives, Zach Koger picks off Hollen and takes it back 55 yards for the touchdown.  14-0 Somerset with 4 minutes to go in the first half.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but when the Breathitt player picked up the fumble in the end zone, tried to advance it, and was tackled shouldn't it have been a safety?

Somerset drives the ball inside the Bobcats 10, but fumbles into the end zone for a touchback. 14-0 Somerset at halftime.
