I’m talking about all sports, and the lessons you learn and adversity you go through within sports. You learn far more by suffering with other people, getting kicked to the ground, building back up, together. And yes, my football experience in high school was far more impactful than any math class I took in high school. My groomsmen in my wedding - all teammates. Who visited the house my mother got sick? Coach Ray. Not any teacher I had. If you do not see the significance of athletics, and what one can do for a young person - confidence, strength both mentally and physically, discipline, accountability, and so much more, I can’t help you. And none of this was learned in a math class at CovCath. So yes, my math class while there was not that important, and I’ve been in what you could say is about the closest thing to the “math” industry for years and years.

I’ve always enjoyed the picture of Yeagle, Mueller, and Ray. @Colonels_Wear_Blue, do you know the ages of each one in that picture?

Chicken or the egg. Issac left CovCath for Campbell County first, if his father joined staff at CCHS, it was after Issac enrolled there. And Eviston has had a field day hiring former Ryle coaches or you could say, raiding the Ship. Ryan, Teegarden, now Morgan, and at one time, Warner.

I agree that CovCath and the Diocese is most likely not going to “buy out” a retirement plan, but to your comments in the bold - if you don’t think Eviston and Ruthsatz received significant benefits, including pay structures and/or investment tools far beyond say what the math department is receiving, then you are out of touch with reality. (And not saying you specifically CWB, just those in general.) Especially after Moeller (x2), Trinity, and GT College came after Eddie. I don’t know what or who, but Rowe and Baci went out and found something to keep Coach Eviston to stay. I can’t speak to if Ruthsatz was sought after by other schools, programs (I’d have to guess he was), but they either did the same or would have done the same. Yes, it’s a high school and academics come first, but high school sports, especially basketball and football at a place like CovCath, is just as crucial to the student than anything, I’d even argue, far more important in the grand scheme of things than a HS math class. Point being, if CovCath wants to get someone, and there is mutual interest from that candidate, Rowe and Baci are very competent, competitive, and savvy leaders, they will find a way. Whether it’s boosters putting up additional bonuses, setting up some additional retirement account/vehicle, or what have you, they’ll get it done. They will not, however, do this for a Math teacher - I don’t care how good he/she is. So, they do extend considerations to coaches (football and basketball specifically) that they do not extend to a teacher only position.

I don’t disagree with that, I’m not saying CovCath has had the best athletes/teams, I’m saying you give Kevin Gray the same teams Krumps has had, he still rattles off a couple regional titles at CovCath since 2005. He definitely doesn’t go, what Krumps commonly says, “wearing the collar” aka ZERO.

All fair points. But it’s time, fresh face, new blood. He’s had a heckuva career, but I know many in the CovCath baseball community, much like all Park Hills Mafia members, they are tired of the same old, same old. Build a statue, throw his name on a plaque, give him a ‘Lynn Ray’ rock, even name the pressbox after him, but it’s time. I know of at least one coach down the street that would have gotten much more out of the athletes and teams that Krumps did nothing with. He’s had the talent to win, he can’t win the big games, and he certainly can’t win at Thomas More Stadium. His stubborn old ways aren’t winning any type of titles. Zero regional titles since 2005. It’s time.

Time for Krumps to call it. He can’t get out of the region. A lot of people fed up with the “well we win 20+ games a season”, lose to Beechwood, and now this. Thanks for the memories but he should have been given the forced retirement when he retired from teaching a few years back. It’s time for a new face and fresh voice in that program.

Not when it comes to the big 2 at CovCath. (Football/Basketball). Baseball is the same but Krumps is grandfathered in, so that is on standby until after this season.

National search for sure. Call me crazy, but what is John Brannen doing these days? Sully. Matt Otte. Fleming.

Also - fantastic atmosphere in game 2. Game 1, not so much. They were packed in there today, now if only people could figure out how to leave a parking garage in a timely and orderly fashion!

@Mr. Sixer the switch Man made no sense to me. Cooper could do whatever they wanted down in the paint , especially in second chance opportunities, as Miller refuses to box out. The Jags weren’t afraid to get on the floor for a loose ball. And I have never seen a Scott Ruthsatz team just completely give up, aside from Cash Harney, as I thought he played his heart out, just had 0 help. I loved that the refs let them play. It was odd to see at one point in the 4th quarter it was 6 fouls to 0 - all called on CovCath, and you could see Scott arguing and pointing up at the video board informing the ref of the same thing. Do I have this right, 2 points in the 4th quarter?!? Wow. Out coached, out manned, and luckily, ran OUT of time because it was only going to get worse as Scott sat there dumbfounded. Jags are my favorite to win the 9th, and go get another State title for NKY!

If that’s true, they should call off the interviews and go ahead and name him, because I would have to assume no one else applying for the job would fit that description. But you know what they say about assuming.
