Covington Catholic at Mason County Predictions/Updates
It definitely does. If the Colonels play their game, they should win this one convincingly. Looks like it’ll be the toughest district game by far.

Harrison County at Covington Catholic Predictions/Updates
Running clock. Excited to be back at home and have the CCH video broadcast for this one. Had to settle on watching some old archived title games on NFHS to hold me over until this week. On an unrelated note, that 2017 team was so dominant and fun to watch (closest MOV was 21 and that was @ Kings). 2018 and 2019 were as well, but 2017 really had no challengers. 2018 should have been another title too.

Gators need to win this one badly. Gators 23 - Cats 16 Go Gators!!!!

Covington Catholic at Grant County Predictions/Updates
This does worry me, especially considering how uncompetitive the rest of the regular season schedule looks. However, the way Eddie meticulously prepares his teams I am not too worried when it comes to playoff time. Additionally, a lot of young, talented players get lots of experience which is a huge plus.

It’s all good man! Bengals deserve all the criticism in the world though, haha.

What a game!!!! These Colonels make the clutch plays when it matters. This team is going to rip through the rest of their schedule until the playoff.

Covington Catholic at Beechwood Predictions/Updates
I feel the same way. It’s somewhat of a 1a and 1b situation in terms of whats the bigger rivalry, especially when it came to the playoff implications when playing Highlands — but it’s very personal nonetheless. Any way you spin it, one of the best and classic rivalries of NKY football.

Covington Catholic at Beechwood Predictions/Updates
I feel like they’ll have success. Cov Cath hasn’t been a consistent defensive unit this year. They shut down SK which was impressive, and limiting Highlands to 21 in their own house was pretty solid as well. But Ryle had success moving the ball down the field against them and so did Dixie. I think Ryle is decent and Dixie is much, much better than their record, but still. I think this is going to be a close game. Of course, I hope I’m wrong in that regard haha.

Covington Catholic at Beechwood Predictions/Updates
As a Colonels fan this is the matchup I look forward to the most, by far, each season (I know most would say Highlands). If I could choose one team to beat every single year it would be the Tigers. Don’t play Beechwood’s game and get into a track meet. I hope some of the defensive lapses from last week don’t rear their head in this one. Colonels by 7 but I hope it’s more. Beat Beechwood!!!!!!

Covington Catholic at Simon Kenton Predictions/Updates
This will be a nice test on the road against a good SK team. The Colonels have a lot of talent this year. Obviously Willie is a beast but Miller is also a very, very solid receiver who will continue to shine this year. Pitzer can drop dimes yet also has scrambling ability when plays break down. I have been very impressed with how he can create when it looks like there is nothing there. Shows a ton of toughness and poise as a leader. Owen is a very nice running back. With that being said, I think the Colonels take this one by 10 at least. They’ve had a couple of nice early tests and I think they will continue to excel. There’s also a point to be made regarding how top-heavy the schedule is. I believe Highlands was the toughest game on the schedule with Beechwood being a not too-distant second. I’m getting ahead of myself here but if we can get past the Tigers in a couple of weeks we should be undefeated heading into the playoffs. Moreover, I know the popular opinion on here (for some at least) is that 4A belongs to Boyle/Corbin. I can see the Colonels taking down Corbin if that matchup arises. Toppling Boyle, on the other hand, is a different story — quite the dynasty they have going on at the moment. Go Colonels!!!!!

Let’s go Colonels!!!!!!!!!

Covington Catholic 10 Ryle 3
First off -- it was an honor to be on the field with my brother for his senior night and I'm proud of the way he and all his fellow seniors played tonight. It was my first time being back at Dennis Griffin in over a year and the atmosphere and game was awesome. I feel like that was our best defensive performance of the year, and our best win of the year overall against a solid Ryle squad. The D-Line played solid against the run the entire night and our secondary flew to the ball and was all over their receivers. Our special teams play was very solid too besides the one turnover we had on the punt return. Didn't give them favorable field position much at all on some booming punts. I loved all the noise we brought and it certainly didnt help Ryle. They had quite a few penalties and I believe two/three false starts on one drive on consecutive plays. Its Playoff time -- Go Colonels!!!!!

Is it time for Florida to let Dan Mullen go?
This is a loaded question but there is no doubt that his hypothetical "seat" has gotten warm in the collective minds of most Gator fans. What's most frustrating is that it didn't have to be this way. First off fire Todd Grantham. It was obvious in 2019 when he underperformed and failed against the elite teams on our schedule (I'll give him a break regarding 2019 LSU) and made the offenses of bad teams look competent that this was a trend that would continue. In 2020 that was just exacerbated and caused some really painful losses (looking at you LSU Fog Game & Texas A&M). What's worse is that we had one of our most potent offenses ever last year with the best TE in CFB history (Pitts) and one of the best QBs we've ever had (Trask), along with some amazingly talented WR's, and it was just squandered. This year was the absolute nail in the coffin. The fact that LSU had one of the worst rushing attacks in the FBS coming into the game against us (I think ranked 127th!!!) and managed to brutalize our defense to that extent using the same counter play was one of the most pathetic and disheartening showings by a Gator defense I think I've ever seen. On top of it all, recruiting has been far from where we want it to be and what's very interesting to Gator fans is that Mullen has produced most of his success using mostly players McElwain recruited (Trask, Pitts, Toney, Copeland, Perine, etc.). McElwain was a mess at UF, but at the end of his tenure he did recruit multiple players that will be legends in Florida Gator lore forever. However it's not just Mullen. Our facilities aren't on par with Georgia, Bama, Clemson, etc. but they will be soon when the new facility is finished early next year. That should help some. And I think Mullen desperately needs to accept some accountability. What will fly at Miss State wont fly here. Can't have that mentality. And that's from the top of the administration down (Strickland came from MSU too). Have to be committed to football in every facet of the organization if you want to reach the top of the mountain. What's amazing is that Mullen has a saving grace here. He has the most potent weapon in college football, Anthony Richardson. He needs to start Richardson and not look back. Richardson is the most talented player in CFB already, or one of them at the very least. Get rid of Todd Grantham, improve on recruiting, start Richardson and have some humility. That is the path for Mullen. If not he will not succeed.

#1 Are you as Big of a College Football Fan as You are a High School Football Fan? #2 Which Conference?
College Football is a deeply unique and incredible sport that perhaps has the most passionate fans on earth imo. I enjoy all of CFB but follow the SEC more closely than other conferences. I bleed Orange and Blue. Its Great To Be A Florida Gator. Massive Gators fan and will not miss a game no matter what. I'm a High School fan in the sense that I'm invested in the team my brother plays for. Luckily I've been able to experience the really cool environment that Cov Cath is as a spectator.

Covington Catholic 8 Highlands 7
Yeah. Should have stuck with Holtz at QB. Beat Dixie comfortably who is a team that's better than their record indicates. Would have beat Cooper by a bigger margin and wouldve helped tonight. However , CCH deserved the W tonight. They are a talented team but the problem is they dont have an identity. Sometimes rivalry games are like that. Colonels showed grit tonight.

Covington Catholic 24 Dixie Heights 8
Good win. I would like to see some more throws to the middle of the field and getting our explosive receivers the ball in some space to work with. Holtz has some awesome throws each game and our offense is improving, but we still have work to do on that front. Agee coming in as QB at times also helps us change things up, and lets us keep the defense honest on both his and Holtz's skillset. And I think its about getting this offense into a flow. We bent a bit on defense but didnt break, unlike last week. Also had some spectacular defensive plays. Were very stout and had better coverage on the deep balls than our earlier games. All in all, I'm pleased with our performance. Huge game next week.
