Covington Catholic at Grant County Predictions/Updates

The 6-0 Colonels will be heading to Dry Ridge on Friday for their second district challenge of 2023. The 2-3 Braves will have hosting honors, and will have a tall order to try to pull off a win. Grant County has been allowing a respectable 25.5 points per game to their opponents to their own 23.8 points per game, but then looking further at the RPI for opponents, their highest rated opponent is Rockcastle County at 0.85835 and an average RPI of 0.65866 for their five opponents this season. Rockcastle County beat Grant County 63-37.

Covington Catholic, on the other hand, has been allowing 18.3 points per game to their opponents to their own 41.5 points per game in their thus far undefeated 2023 season. The highest RPI rating for any of Cov Cath's opponents is Beechwood at 1.17466, and the average RPI for all six teams the Colonels have faced this season is 0.98960.

Too Long; Didn't Read - Grant County's averages look okay against their schedule, but when you look at their highest rated opponent, Grant kinda got boat raced. Cov Cath is currently undefeated, and the average RPI of their opponents to-date is higher than the highest RPI of any of the teams Grant has played thus far. It's more than likely gonna be a tough row to hoe for Grant County this week.

More Dylan Gaiser, please. Plus with Leen recouping his ankle this is a great opportunity to experiment with some wildcat looks with both Gaiser and Harney available for use in the backfield on offense.

Using one of those two for a halfback option play like the Mixon to Higgins touchdown pass in the Super Bowl would be pretty righteous.
