Beechwood has had 123 points scored on them in their first 4 games this season. That's more points than they allowed in either of their previous 15-game football seasons. On the flipside of that, Beechwood has hung 188 points on their opponents, and currently is sitting on a 4-0 record after playing a GCL football team, two 6A football teams, and one 5A team.

Cov Cath also has a 4-0 record heading into Week 5, with wins over a pair of 6A teams and a pair of 5A teams. The Colonels had action packed and closely contested games against Highlands in Week 2 and on Friday night against Dixie, and have outscored their opponents 153-79.

The Tigers have an extremely pass-heavy offense this year and have come up with some high-octane scores at the end of their games, with an average of 47 points per game. The Colonels, who also lean passing (although not quite so hard as Beechwood) average 38 points per game. With both teams having close contests against Dixie, and both offenses with similar results against Simon Kenton, what can we expect to see when Cov Cath rolls into Fort Mitchell on Friday?

Can Beechwood figure out something on defense to at least slow down the Colonels a little?

Can Clay Hayden do it again facing the best defense he has seen this year?

I look for the Colonels to go to the game plan from 2020 - a heavy dose of run the ball and control the clock. The best defense against an offense like Beechwood is to keep them off the field. Beechwood has struggled against the run and Cov Cath has the personnel to bring that pain to Beechwood again.

Great write up! Not to nitpick but it is 123 points given up. Still not great…

I’d be shocked if this game is within 2 touchdowns. Beechwood goes down for the first time in 2023.

Hearing the Campbell kid is doing better,  not sure the ruling or timeline of his injury , prayers for a speedy recovery 🙏 With that said... without him on both sides of the ball is a big blow.. hope he's good to go come next Friday... any word anyone?

I have to agree with The Oracle in the other thread, why don’t CCH target Willie more often. He is tall, big, and physical and makes it look easy but we throw to him only a few times a game. I don’t know his true stats on the year but he has 5 TDs on probably 10 receptions.

CCH was getting into that QB draw a lot in the 2nd half again. The whole time I’m thinking, just throw the ball to Willie, he will catch and run over someone to score. And sure enough that’s what he did on the final score last night.

Lol, not sure where I came up with 154, but good catch, thanks! I went back and corrected it in the original post.
