This year I believe District 1 is the toughest in 5A. Graves, Apollo, Owensboro and Madisonville-North Hopkins are all going to have good seasons

Is South Warren Expected to be good this yr?

I believe they lose to the Devils, and maybe the Aces. I don’t know much about Heritage Hills… Outside of those teams I don’t see any other team on their schedule really being able to beat them if they live up to expectations. In a ceiling year they might have what it takes to go 10-0.

I hope Apollo and Madisonville go at least 7-3 so our RPI within the district stays high. With Apollos schedule 8-2 or 9-1 is very possible if they meet expectations. I can see Madisonville-North Hopkins going 7-3. Graves shouldn’t be far behind. This district could possibly be the toughest in 5A this season.

Mind you Owensboro was without a top receiver(Morris), their best safety(Green) and their best OLB(Conrad). After they went up 35-7. Mayfield only scored on the JV defense. So I don’t think Owensboro gave their best shot. Offensively O is breaking in a brand new QB so there’s still some kinks to work out. Even then the offense basically did what they wanted against a pretty decent Mayfield defense. I think we have a great shot this year. I guess time will tell.

I honestly don’t think your defense is bad. Dillard will do that to pretty much every team in KY. He’s probably the most underrated player in the state due to size. And Hampton well…. He didn’t get all those offers for no reason. Plus this could one of the most loaded Devils offense in decades…. Offensively y’all have the guys just need better QB play.

Is there any stream of this scrimmage?

That’s where I’m at with it. I do think O has more good years ahead but as far as winning the state championship. This has to be it. Bowling Green is “rebuilding” Highlands is gone South Warren is gone. Cooper will probably be the favorite but O shouldn’t be far behind. Outside of line play this team should be as good or better than Kenyatta Carbons class. Play makers all over the offense and pretty much the same defense as last year.

We might lose our 1st 2 games. Adjusting to the new head coach, new system, new QB. But with all the talent returning for the Devils a loss to either the Aces or Apollo would be a busted season for the Devil’s imo.

I have been saying this since 2011. The culture of a program means so much in the mental aspect of the game. Unfortunately I don’t think Apollo believes they can win. The moment a little doubt creeps in it seems like it’s down hill from there for the Eagles. I see a 5-5 season at best until they prove me wrong… Wish the Eagles the best. Until they play the Devils of course.

I agree this might be more of an issue than coaching itself. I truly believe if Atwell, Carrico and Crowe were at OHS along with a few OC linemen. Red Devils probably win state in 5A even with Fallin as the HC.

Can’t underestimate that BG defense.

Ryle has some grown men. 1st time watching them play this season. I'm impressed. #0 and Savage are huge.

Yeah they’re definitely as fast as advertised.

As a fan. Would love to see a seasoned vet with a state championship under their belt take the job. But with a good portion of the talent coming back for their senior and junior season an in house hire sounds like a good shock absorber.

I gave him a pretty hard time but I think he did a great job during his tenure at OHS. Crazy to think he stepped down with so much returning. Makes me wonder if there are kids transferring.

I think he’s the X factor for the Aces. Just my opinion. The Aces win or lose starting with Crowe. Maybe the most underrated player in Western KY. They don’t beat Owensboro without Crowe. Atwell is no doubt the most important piece to the Aces offense. But Crowe is the most important 2 way player laying big hits on defense and busting big plays on offense consistently. Needs to touch the ball a minimum of 10 times in this game. Good luck bringing him down in open space.
