Owensboro vs Mayfield

OWENSBORO

Mayfield travels to Rash in what could be a great match-up. Last year it ended in a 10-10 varsity tie. The highly anticipated debut of Coach Demarcus Ganaway, who took over in February has got a lot of buzz going on in Red Devil Nation. Couple things to look for in Owensboro,

1. How well will Owensboro’s offensive line do in this scrimmage?

2. We will get a great look at new QB Demarcus Ganaway Jr. I think this scrimmage will show everyone what this young man can do. 
 

MAYFIELD 

For the first time in over 15 years Mayfield didn’t make it to the Semi Finals last year.

I don’t know much about Mayfield this year so couple questions for Mayfield fans.

1. Was last year a “rebuild” year?

2. Will we see a fired up Mayfield program with a re-charge?

Let me know what everyone thinks. 

I know it's a scrimmage, but this seems like a scrimmage in which both fan bases' old guards will be looking at very closely (and critically) to see what the programs come out of the gate looking like. 

Since Mayfield will be without it's starting QB, I don't really have a clue. I know Mayfield will try to run the ball and it all depends on the line and that will be something that really needs to be watched. Last year a rebuild year? Yes and no. Lots of injuries derailed that team and we weren't as good as I thought or anybody else thought. Looking forward to this scrimmage to answer a few questions and see what this season could be.

I hear Red Helmet Video is doing the game. What time does it start?

Both teams are similar athletically always.  I think they usually play a half then it goes JV and Freshman.  It’s usually right around tied, but really both teams use this to get ready for week 1 and the focus isn’t on Winning the scrimmage.  Now I’m sure the kids want to win and maybe the coaches, but if you lose 21-14 it’s not a huge deal.  Just 2 of Western KY’s best programs going at it.

Any more updates 

21-7 Owensboro. Mayfield is giving lots of looks to just about everyone. Kirby got to throwing it all right after a shaky start. England hardly ran the ball.
