How many schools are there in KY that've never had any other schools in the same county with football programs?

Williamstown High School has never had a football program. Corinth, Dry Ridge and Crittenden high schools all had football teams for a decade or so prior to consolidation taking place, but I don't believe Mason High School ever had a football program. Regardless, since its opening, Grant County High School has never had any other school in the county to contend with for football players, and their football program is now in the middle of its 3rd decade on the scene and is STILL hunting for its first-ever playoff win. Seems like an awful long time coming.

I feel like there have to be a small handful, but how many other schools are there in the state that have never had any other schools in the same county with football programs?

Familiar with the SOKY area and I’ve never thought about it but there’s quite a few who are the lone school of their county.

2A - Monroe County (Tompkinsville for some years back in the day), Todd County Central

3A - Adair County, Butler County, Edmonson County, Union County

4A - Allen County-Scottsville, Franklin Simpson

5A - Grayson County

No District - Ohio County

Unsure the context of the discussion, but I did just name some decent programs and also some bad ones.

I'm pretty sure that Wayne, McCreary, Casey and Lincoln would fit that description.

I believe McLean county is one too

Spencer County only has one high school. Changed from Taylorsville High School in the 70s but was only ever one school.

Gamaliel also played football. Their last season was 1984, finishing 4-5.

Stanford High School and Lincoln High School, which was the segregated school in the county, both played football. @Mr.Network would tell you that without Lincoln High consolidating with Stanford in the early 1960s, the program at Stanford would have likely gone away.

For what its worth, Hustonville also had teams that played against Lancaster High in 1919 and 1920.

McCracken/Tilghman, Mayfield/Graves, Hopkinsville/Christian (for another year anyways)

Meade County

Maybe Lewis County?  Not sure if Tollesboro ever fielded a football team.

And I don’t know if Robertson County/Deming ever played football If not, that’s an entire county that never had prep football.

Did Carroll, or Trimble ever have other schools?

Carroll County had a bunch: Carrollton, Locust, Ghent, English, Worthville, and Sanders. Those last five all closed and fed into Carrollton. Carrollton's name was then changed to Carroll County in 1965. I don't know if any of them played football, though.

Probably add Russell County to that list in this part of the state.

When did Pulaski start a football program?  It was Somerset only for a long time.

1982. They went 0-10 under Coach Jerry Johns.
