The Meade County Greenwave travel to Owensboro to play the Eagles of Apollo.Really good matchup in this one Friday night.

For Apollo I have 2 questions 

1. Is the offensive line ready to help Max Johnson. Last year Johnson ran for his life and still made plays to help the Eagles.

2. Who replaces Niles Boards big play capabilities?

1. New head coach Blake Powers takes over his Alma mater, what changes does he make to the program.

2. Who replaces QB Cade Scott, who left early to go to Tulane?

Meade County Enters the 2025 Football Season with a new coach in Blake Powers, a 2003 Graduate of Meade County and former QB. Powers spent the last three years on the Army coaching staff coaching running backs and tight ends. He played quarterback and tight end at Indiana University. Last season, the Black Knights led the country in rushing, averaging more than 300 yards an outing as Army finished 12-2.

He is comfortable running a Wing-T run heavy offense. The challenge for him will be to figure out how to open the offense up with an incoming QB that has great arm strength and can be very accurate. 

Cade Scott didn't leave early? He was a a senior last season.

Durelle Loggins, who split time with Jakylin Kirkland at QB last season for North Hardin has transferred to Meade County. He threw for 1,433 yards last season and has a strong arm. he Will fit in nicely with this program and is a godsend for the Greenewave at the position they were the weakest on offense.

So is their offense a flexbone option offense like Army?

Not sure what he will be running. He was the QB back in 2003 for Meade County and they ran the Wing-T. 

Replacing Niles Board is something that is difficult to do. He could make plays at running back, receiver, returner, and on defense. What Apollo has going for them is their skill players. Badger, Tutt, Bratcher, Williams, Edge, Milburn--- all of these athletes have great speed and can make defenders miss in open space. Badger, Tutt, Edge are big players on both sides of the ball and could very easily be one of the best DB squad in their respective class. These athletes have the ability to meet the demands of a high tempo/scoring offense that we know Apollo can produce. I think this group of skill players will be able to accomplish that mission. 

The O-Line has taken major strides in the past two seasons. They should have 3 returning starters who have been huge leaders for their team and that showed great improvements as their season went on last year. From what I hear, they have moved some guys who mainly played d-line to the offensive side of the ball as well. Anthony Hester would be a great addition to their trenches. He has a massive frame and can move with authority at his size. If they can stay healthy, then you will see more opportunities in their run game, as well as giving Max Johnson time to make big plays with his arm or legs. 

The Eagles have a lot to prove this season!

I did not go to the game, but I heard Max Johnson was on it tonight. Not sure how good Meade was but I do know the varsity played well it sounds.

Definitely makes this district interesting. Madisonville is a force to be reckoned with. That running back is a stud!!!

Our district could go us, Apollo and Madisonville. Who Knows? Apollo could beat us and we be in second place in the district.

I hope Apollo and Madisonville go at least 7-3 so our RPI within the district stays high. With Apollos schedule 8-2 or 9-1 is very possible if they meet expectations. I can see Madisonville-North Hopkins going 7-3. Graves shouldn’t be far behind. This district could possibly be the toughest in 5A this season.

I believe they lose to the Devils, and maybe the Aces. I don’t know much about Heritage Hills… Outside of those teams I don’t see any other team on their schedule really being able to beat them if they live up to expectations. In a ceiling year they might have what it takes to go 10-0.
