South Warren heads up the Old Green River Parkway to Owensboro to take on the Red Devils at Rash Stadium in

both teams' final warmup before the first week of the season begins on the 22nd or 23rd of August.

The Red Devils were fun to keep up with over the off-season with a 40-page BGP thread regarding the hiring of their new coach after Coach Jay Fallin stepped down.  The Red Devils selected Demarcus Gannaway to lead and re-energize the program and through the pre-season I'd say the new Coach has done that!  He also brought his son along with him who happens to be a terrific athlete in his own right and just so happens is the likely starting QB for the Red Devils giving them at least the appearance of a dual threat QB, which is always tough to deal with.  

The Red Devils best player is SR RB Evan Hampton.  The young man has a plethera of high D1 offers and if I heard correctly, he is now going to play football at Vanderbilt.  Congratulations to the young man!  Happy for him getting rewarded for all that hard work!  But Owensboro has quality skill guys all over and a guy named King Dillard (WR) is likely one of the better players that about 2% of football fans across the state know about.  He is a very elusive and effective player and only a sophomore.  The Red Devils return quite a few on defense as well and from what was stated on their earlier scrimmage thread, played really well vs a Mayfield team that although have several injuries always plays hard.  If the O OLine can find continuity, I fully expect Owensboro to be playing on Black Friday if not further this year.

South Warren comes in this scrimmage after going a few rounds with Allen County Scottsville last Friday, but those rounds reportedly ended in a fight with the scrimmage called after because of it.  I have heard rumors of more specifics but feel it's unwise to spread anything I'm not sure about here.  

The Spartans step up to 6A this year and will have a new QB.  The likely candidates are JR Camden Page (a 3-sport athlete for South) or highly touted SO Chase Bell, who I have heard is the #1 player in KY for Sophomores on some ranking sites.  South was hurt by graduation on the OLine, but bring back some stout guys, especially JR JaQuise Smith, who is a LOAD!  Leading RB SR Kayden York and leading WR Jake Carter both return for South.  So, if the OLine can gel similar to the Red Devils, I can see South making a run in 6A as well.

Looking forward to watching this one.  Once OHS worked some early kinks out last week, their offense looked impressive.  The OL needs a lot of work, but getting QB Ganaway Jr out of the pocket seemed to work well.  WR Morris returning to the team after injury(DNP last week) is big.  Him and Dillard are as good of a 1-2 WR punch as you will find.  Combine those weapons with Evan Hampton, and OHS should have a very dangerous crop of skill players.  Getting a late scrimmage vs a program as good as South Warren is a great final tune up for St X next week.

Like I mentioned we love the Sporting Times but James Green video quality is usually top notch.

Yes to the 6:30pm start... I would assume central time, but I'm not 100% on that.

I know Chadyn Morris is not playing. 

I am a little worried we might get some players hurt and we can't afford that.
