Dragons March the field again and score just before half and lead 30-23 at the half. The Dragons will receive the kickoff to start the second half. Taylor is explosive on offense, and I truly think if smith played last week, and didn’t go out against Larue in the third quarter, they would be sitting at 3-0. Taylor will score points against anyone they play, just how many will they give up is the issue.

Taylor scores on a fourth and 20 on a jump ball TD. Dragons still lead 24-23 with 4 to go in the second.

Taylor scored right after that post, to make it 16-15, and then Houchens broke another long run for about 50 to the house. Dragons lead 24-15 about 9 to go in the second.

I might also add Smith is playing for Taylor and he makes them an entirely different team. If he plays the entire game against Larue or Spencer, I think they may have won both those games, he’s that good.

11:42 to go in the second and Green leads 16-7. Taylor has loaded the box and the Dragons have thrown the ball well and Houchens broke a long 60 plus yard run down to the 2 and the Dragons punched it on for another score. Taylor has moved the ball easily, but the Dragons have stripped two Taylor backs fighting for extra yards and have scored after each turnover.

I would think Highlands handles Raceland fairly comfortably. Then again, one would assume Covington Catholic would have beat Pikeville comfortably and didn’t, you just never know. This is a very interesting game to see how good Raceland truly is. The longer they hang around the worse it’s going to be for Highlands. Should be a fun night in Highlands regardless. Good luck to both teams and hope they come out injury free and better for the rest of the season. Will this game be streamed anywhere? Would be a fun one to watch.

The Dragons roll into Taylor County looking to right the ship after a tough loss against Hart County, that saw the Dragons have multiple turnovers, at least 10-15 penalties and not score 4 times while inside of the redzone. These are mistakes that the Dragons must fix if they expect to win district and compete with the top teams in class 2A. I also want to commend Hart County, they made the plays when they needed them, and played a very good and smart game. The have some really nice players and play hard and fast. I really like the Hart team and I expect them to finish the year with at least 7 wins. I was out of town during the game and was unable to watch in person, but did catch clips from fans and friends of the game, and it looked like a great game to have been at, even if the Dragons didn't play one of there best games. The Dragons also lost two starting linemen during the Hart County game and I hear the line play really suffered after having to shift some kids around and having to play some young guys. I think with an extra week, those young men will do fine and build from the last game. Taylor County looks to stop the bleeding themselves after losing two straight. Taylor was without standout running back Payton Smith against Spencer County, as he was injured during the third quarter of the Larue County game, if he is unable to go again, Taylor will have to rely on a committee approach at running back and have them run behind that big offensive line. If Smith plays, Taylor is an entirely different animal and can score in bunches, if he doesn't, that surely helps the Dragons in trying to win this game. This should be a great game again, that will test the resolve of both teams, and should be a game of great running backs all over the field. What's your thought and predictions of this game? Give me the Dragons in a close one, 34 to 32.

I really like this Campbellsville team. They are tough and very athletic, and I really like the change in offensive scheme to fit the personnel they have, its done wonders. The issue for Campbellsville will be how that front line does against that big Metcalfe County defensive line. I think Metcalfe will try and impose there running game by using those big linemen to wear down the smaller Campbellsville front 7, but Campbellsville has speed all over the field and they get down hill in a hurry. This should be a great matchup, give me Campbellsville in the upset 26-21.

Hart County makes the trip down Highway 88 to Greensburg to face the Dragons. Hart County comes in at 2-0 after dominating wins in their first two games. Hart has some really talented kids, and I expect them to bring a great crowd and their A game. If they can limit turnovers and keep the Dragons from moving the ball, they are going to be tough. The Dragons come in at 1-0 after a tough game one victory over a much improved Nelson County. Nelson was as physical as any team we have played the last two years and really got after the Dragons, especially up front. The Dragons really started slow and finally got going Midway through the second and third quarters, and gutted out a cramp filled 4th quarter to hold on to the win. If they start the same way they did last week, It could be much of the same as last week, and be fighting to even keep it close at the beginning. Hopefully the Dragons come out and erase all the penalties and turnovers and bad snaps and get it running smooth this week. I really expect this to be a really close game, as I believe Hart is improved as well, and should give the Dragons all they can handle. What's your thoughts and Predictions? What a ball game. The Dragons are still explosive, but about what I figured defensively, very young and will take time to gel and will take some lumps along the way. They didn't give up and showed a ton of heart, and should bold well for the future. Nelson has improved a ton, and could really cause some teams some issues down the road. I hope they win every game the rest of the way. The Dragons don't win this game without Blake Houchens, numerous tackles, one being a massive hit on the QB that caused a fumble that the dragons returned for a TD, Big runs, and had close to 100 yards receiving as well. He has to be the best player in the entire area, no question about it.

I’m glad to hear it, Nelson had some rough years. As a Dragon fan, I can feel the same pain, as the Dragons had some rough years as well. I always can support teams building from the ground up and making a name for themselves. The Dragons return 4 guys who rushed for over 700 yards a piece, to include 1300 plus for Houchens and 1100 plus for Seymour. They also return every receiver besides one, and 4 of 5 offensive linemen. They are going to be very tough to handle offensively most nights. Where I think we could see a drop off is defense, and I think it’s going to take some time for those guys to gel like last years unit. They are talented and are much more athletic across the entire field compared to last year, and we return some very good players, but are missing three big members of the defense from last year, and those guys will be tough to replace early in the year. I plan to make the trip over to see this one, and I’ll take the Dragons 42-21.

I don’t think Highlands can play anywhere near as bad as they did last week. I know South Warren had a ton to do with that, but I think some of it was self inflicted mistakes that I think they fix this week. Even with that, give me SK in this one, with a high scoring close game. SK 42 to Highlands 35.

The Dragons travel to Nelson County to open the season after having an open week to begin the year. The Dragons look to open the year as they did last year with a dominant win over Nelson. Nelson comes in at 1-0, after their own dominant win over Washington County. Nelson looks to improve to 2-0, and upset the Dragons. Who wins and why?

I saw some of the Meade and Hart County scrimmage, and Hart looked like the better team and actually beat them in the scrimmage. I would think E-town is much better than Hart, so I'd go panthers by at least 3-4 touchdowns.

Taylor just scored again, lead 47-21. Taylor has scored 40 straight.

I just left a few minutes ago and Taylor had forced another Holy Cross punt and led 40-21. Taylor has dominated the entire second half.

Peyton Smith from Taylor is going to run for over 2k yards this season, and I haven't seen to many backs who are better. He's absolutely dynamic.

Beechwood has to be one of the best defensive teams in all of the state. They are always where they are supposed to be and attack the ball carrier non stop.

Talk about the tale of two halves so far, Casey looks like an entirely different team. This one is going to be a great game.

I hope this is a reality check of where Highlands is at. They still have a long way to go, I wish them the best, but some had unrealistic expectations. I hope they build back to the highlands of old, Kentucky High School Football is better when Highlands is great. I also think maybe the coaching wasn't the only issue at Highlands.

It's been a flag filled game, that's for sure.

I'm here watching this one, and can't say I've seen a more penalty called 2 mins in my lifetime of watching football right before the half. Rock has looked good, and has dominated at the point of attack, and Casey for some reason is running a four man front against a loaded back field. They haven't made an adjustment from the 4 man front either.
