Hearing that there may be an issue with Yamil going to Newport and could very well wind up back at Cooper. In addition to Conner being in rebuilding mode so the job wasn't as appealing as Sully thought.

I believe the feeling around Cooper is that Sullivan is leaving. He is ready for a new challenge with a more supportive administration.

I don’t know Sam but he isn’t exactly Red Auerbach. He isn’t in a position in his career to say “ no not at this time.” If he ever wants it, now is when he can get it.

Big loss? 0 district/region championships and only 3 appearances in the region in 8 years. I know it isn't all about that in terms of success but I don't think it's a big loss.

I think that the right person would make a big difference. There are 2 players on Newport's roster that would've been at Holmes with the "right person". I anticipate there being a lot more than that who could help Holmes.

First call better be to Ricardo now that he has the experience they can’t pass on him.

I've known coach H for a long time and he loves a challenge and while he has been very successful on the girls side he interviewed for boys' jobs just didn't land one. Now that he has the experience of being a head coach, he would be the #1 option. Plus he already teaches in the district so it would be an easy transfer.

I agree. While they don't have the depth of other teams, I would've expected a better season/tournament. I think they let EJ roam around the perimeter too much and don't use the Blaackar kid the right way. I think he could be a stud but is too timid and isn't a threat to shoot from 3 on most night with only 6 attempts on the year.

There are a couple I’ve heard whose fan base and alumni are unhappy with. The Holmes coach keeps his job due to the buddy-buddy system in the school.

32nd might be the more intriguing of all the district tournaments. Walton, Simon Kenton, and Grant County all have a legit shot to win it. If Grant County wins it, there might be some who would argue this would be Utter's best coaching year. Considering they've only been to the region 3 times in his time as head coach and have yet to win a district title, you could say he's hungry for it. Hester topping his mentor in Steiner would be a great story in the potential championship matchup.

10th Region is extremely top heavy! Seeing a poor Scott team ranked 5th is a testament to this fact. Hard to believe that they're an astounding 54-87 over the last 5 seasons. I don't think Carr ever had a 5 year span that poor.

Their address while playing at Bracken County is locked in. Some school districts have an open-enrollment policy which allows out of district kids to enroll and play at that school. If they wanted to end their careers at Mason County, then dad should have never taken them out of that district just to coach them until this year.

This does not matter. There are only 8 reasons that a student can transfer and be allowed to play without sitting out and not one of those 8 include the "my dad resigned as basketball coach". While I understand the desire to just let them play and they were only at Bracken County due to their dad being the coach, this does not fit the "transfer for non-athletic reason" criteria. If the address that they currently have is the same as the address they used while at BC, then they are ineligible by KHSAA rules.

Heard today that eligibility might be an issue.

If nothing changes between now and Friday, Ricardo Johnson will be the next head coach at Holy Cross. Some of the powers that be were against it somewhat but gave in to the decision.

UH OH! It sounds like there was a disruption in this announcement. One of the money people at HC doesn't agree with the decision.

I like the rule change. I'm not sure why we feel that the offense should be penalized (old 1-and-1 rule) for being in the lead. This also helps games finish quicker when a team racks up fouls in the 3rd quarter it isn't a free throw show in the 4th.

If UK offers, he will commit and reclassify to 2024.
