Week 12:
Here’s your weekly recap for the 8th!
 

1. North Oldham (23-4)
North Oldham jumps back into the top of the rankings after going 1-1 on the week. They started off hot with a 17 point win over Collins before facing a 16 point setback to 12th region favorite DCA. Grant Neal led the way with 17 in the loss but as a team they only shot 34% from the field. The Mustangs wrap up the regular season with DuPont Manual at home today and then they’ll travel to St X. on Friday. 

2. Woodford County (22-5)
Woodford extended their win streak to five games as they knocked off Dunbar at home by 29 this past week. Layton Starks had a nice game with 24 in the win and as a team they shot 63% from the field. A winning recipe for any game. The Yellow Jackets wrap up the regular season with LCA at home on Thursday. 

3. Oldham County (21-8)
Oldham Co faced a setback this week as they went 0-2 on the week. They lost to St. X by 4 and Eastern by 13. These are games that will only help down the road, but still games you’d like to see won. Max Green finished with 31 in the loss to St X. and it seems like he didn’t play in the loss to Eastern according to Riherds scoreboard. Oldham Co finishes up their regular season with Butler at home on Thursday. 

4. Spencer County (18-8)
Spencer went 2-0 on the week and pushed their win streak to 11! This time with a 7 point win over Bullitt East and a 23 point win over Bardstown. Camden Cox led the way in the win over Bullitt East with 25. The Bears have a busy week as they travel to North Hardin tonight, to Owen County tomorrow, and then to Doss on Thursday. 

5. Simon Kenton (13-14)
The Pioneers put together a nice week going 2-0 with a 13 point win over Boone County and a 6 point win over Anderson County. This now pushes their win streak to 3 and 5 of their last 6. Simon Kenton wraps up their regular season with HIghlands at home tomorrow and Owen County at home on Thursday before they get ready for their opening round district game with Williamstown. 

6. Walton-Verona (21-8)
Walton-Verona went 2-0 on the week with a 2 point win over Dixie Heights in OT and a 9 point win over Newport Central Catholic. Aaron Gutman led the way in the Dixie win with 31 points and 7 boards. The Bearcats only have one game left in the regular season but it’s a massive one as they travel to the states number one ranked team and take on Great Crossing Tuesday. 

7. Anderson County (16-10)
Anderson went 1-1 on the week with a 6 point setback to Simon Kenton, but then responded well with a 7 point win over Owen County. Anderson County finishes up the regular season with a game at home with South Oldham Tuesday, then a game at home with Franklin County on Thursday. 

8. Grant County (13-16)
Grant County went 1-2 on the week. They started off with a 4 point win over Gallatin County in OT, but then took one on the chin against Great Crossing by 31 and followed that up with a 21 point loss to Cooper. Spencer Breeden led the way for Grant with 26 in the OT win against Gallatin. The Braves finish up their regular season with Bryan Station on the road Tuesday. 

9. Gallatin County (17-11)
Gallatin also went 1-2 on the week. They began the week with a 5 point setback to Augusta, then a 4 point loss to Grant in OT, before finishing the week on the upside with a 8 point win over South Oldham. Matthew Griffin led the way with 31 points and hit 5 3’s in the win over South Oldham. The Wildcats finish up the regular season with a game at home with Switzerland County IN, then they’ll travel to Holmes on Friday. 

10. South Oldham (14-12)
The Dragons started the week off with a 35 point win over Louisville Collegiate, but followed that with an 11 point loss to Madison Southern and an 8 point loss to Gallatin County. South Oldham will look to begin a new win streak as they travel to Anderson County Tuesday, and wrap up the regular season with a game at Bullitt East on Thursday.

Shoutout Spencer County, just set a school record for wins in a row at 11.

32nd might be the more intriguing of all the district tournaments.  Walton, Simon Kenton, and Grant County all have a legit shot to win it.  If Grant County wins it, there might be some who would argue this would be Utter's best coaching year.  Considering they've only been to the region 3 times in his time as head coach and have yet to win a district title, you could say he's hungry for it.  Hester topping his mentor in Steiner would be a great story in the potential championship matchup.
